In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the “The Zappy Shipwreck” side quest invites players to assist a ship owner in Seesyde Village by eliminating an electric jellyfish infestation aboard his vessel. Here’s a comprehensive guide to completing this quest:
Quest Overview
Location: Seesyde Village
Quest Giver: Bald man standing on a boat near the docks
Objective: Clear the shipwreck of the electric jellyfish and defeat the boss, Barinade
Reward: Fairy Bottle and a Piece of Heart
Starting the Quest
After completing the “Still Missing” main quest, head to Seesyde Village and locate the bald man atop his boat near the docks. Engage in conversation to learn about his ship being overtaken by a “zappy” sea creature resembling a jellyfish. He will mark the location of his ship on your map, initiating “The Zappy Shipwreck” quest.
Locating the Shipwreck
The shipwreck is situated in the southwest part of Zora Cove. Swim to the marked location, and use a Water Block Echo or wooden boxes to climb onto the ship’s deck. At the back of the ship, use the Bind ability on the hatch to pry it open, revealing a staircase leading into the vessel’s interior.
Navigating the Wrecked Ship
- Initial Room: Upon entering, you’ll find a room cluttered with crates and barrels. Move or destroy the boxes in the northeast section to uncover a hidden doorway.
- Flooded Chamber: The next area is partially submerged and inhabited by Tektites. You can eliminate them using a Spark Echo when they’re in the water or bypass them to proceed to the subsequent room.
- Submerged Passage: In the following chamber, dive into the water-filled hole to enter a side-scrolling underwater section. Navigate through the dark passages, utilizing glowing corals or a Tangler Lv. 2 Echo to illuminate your path. Be cautious of enemies and monitor your oxygen levels as you swim toward the northwest exit.
- Crew Quarters: After resurfacing, you’ll find yourself in a room with multiple beds. Collect 5 Electro Apples from a chest and use the beds to climb over the left wall.
- Statue Puzzle: On the other side, create Water Block Echoes to form a pillar adjacent to the left wall. Move to the right side and use Bind on the statue beyond the gate, dragging it leftward. Swim up the water pillar to position the statue onto a switch that lowers the gate, granting access to the next area.
- Pre-Boss Room: Proceed through the opened gate, dealing with any enemies encountered, and ascend the stairs to reach the boss chamber.
Defeating Barinade
In the boss room, you’ll confront Barinade, an electric jellyfish surrounded by smaller jellyfish minions. To tackle this boss:
- Phase 1: Summon ranged Echoes, such as Boomerang Boarblins, to target and eliminate the smaller jellyfish from a distance, avoiding the central electric field.
- Phase 2: Once the minions are cleared, Barinade becomes vulnerable. Switch to Swordfighter Form to inflict direct damage. After sustaining damage, Barinade will summon additional minions. Repeat the strategy of eliminating the smaller jellyfish before attacking Barinade until it’s defeated.
Upon defeat, Barinade drops a Piece of Heart and numerous rupees. A warp portal will appear, allowing you to exit the mini-dungeon.
Completing the Quest
Return to the ship owner in Seesyde Village to inform him of your success. In gratitude, he rewards you with a Fairy Bottle, a valuable item for storing fairies that can revive you during battles.
Additional Tips
- Preparation: Equip Zora’s Flippers to enhance swimming speed during underwater sections. Carrying Electro Apple-based Smoothies can provide resistance against electric attacks encountered within the ship.
- Exploration: In the room with Hydrozol enemies, look for a breakable wall on the northeast side. Destroying it reveals a hidden area containing a chest with a Gold Rupee, worth 300 Rupees.
By following this guide, you’ll successfully complete “The Zappy Shipwreck” side quest, earning valuable rewards and furthering your adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
