The Wind Waker Tingle Statues

The Tingle Statues are five hidden golden statues found inside the major dungeons of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. In the original GameCube version, they are uncovered with the Tingle Tuner, a Game Boy Advance feature that lets Tingle assist Link through a connected GBA.

These statues are optional and are not required to finish the game, but they are a fun side quest for completionists. Once found, each statue appears on Tingle Island, where Link can collect Rupee rewards.

Version Note: In the original GameCube version, the Tingle Statues require the Tingle Tuner and Tingle Bombs. In The Wind Waker HD, the Tingle Tuner was removed and replaced by the Tingle Bottle. The statue chests can still be revealed, but Link uses regular Bombs or Bomb Flowers instead.

How to Obtain the Tingle Tuner

The Tingle Tuner can be obtained during Link’s first visit to Windfall Island.

Head to the Town Jail, located behind Lenzo’s pictograph studio. Inside, you will find Tingle locked in a jail cell. Break or move the pots near the back of the room to reveal a hidden floor switch. Step on the switch to open the cell and free Tingle.

After being rescued, Tingle gives Link the Tingle Tuner and Tingle’s Chart. The chart shows the location of Tingle Island, where you will later return to claim rewards for the Tingle Statues.

To use the Tingle Tuner in the GameCube version, connect a Game Boy Advance to the GameCube using a GBA/GameCube Link Cable. The GBA does not need a game cartridge inserted. Once connected, assign the Tingle Tuner to X, Y, or Z and activate it in-game.

How Tingle Statues Work

Each Tingle Statue is hidden inside an invisible treasure chest. These chests do not appear normally and are not marked like regular dungeon chests.

With the Tingle Tuner active, Tingle may mark hidden spots on the GBA map. Stand in the correct location and use a Tingle Bomb to reveal the chest. Tingle Bombs cost 10 Rupees each in the original GameCube version.

After uncovering a statue, open the chest to collect it. The statue will automatically appear on Tingle Island.

Reward Sequence

After finding a Tingle Statue, sail to Tingle Island and talk to Ankle, one of Tingle’s brothers at the top of Tingle Tower.

Statue ProgressReward
Each Tingle Statue50 Rupees
All 5 Tingle Statues Found500 Rupee bonus
Total Reward750 Rupees

Since each statue normally requires one Tingle Bomb in the GameCube version, the total cost is about 50 Rupees, giving Link a net profit of 700 Rupees.
