Characters

Spirit Tracks has 62 named characters. The heroes are you and Princess Zelda’s spirit, the villains are Chancellor Cole, Byrne and the Demon King Malladus, and the Lokomo are spirit guardians who teach the duets that bring the tracks back. Everyone else is a townsperson, and a surprising number of them hand out Force Gems, treasure or a shop. Characters are listed by the place where you find them.

The Lokomo

The Lokomo are ancient spirit people. Each of the five realms has a Lokomo guardian whose sacred instrument is paired with your Spirit Flute, and Anjean watches over the Tower of Spirits.

New Hyrule

These characters are not tied to one town. You meet them in the castle, the Tower of Spirits, the Forest Realm or on the rails, and several keep turning up for the whole game.

Tower of Spirits

The Tower at the centre of New Hyrule has one resident you control yourself.

Forest Realm

The Forest Realm is where the story starts, so its people are the ones you meet first.

Aboda Village

Harry

Harry, Joe and Rei’s father, farms at the north-western corner of the village next to an empty pen. After you own the Trusty Freight Car he asks for help starting a Cucco farm. Buy 10 Cuccos from Georgio in Castle Town, ride them back and he gives you Force Gem 13.

Joe

Joe is a boy in Aboda Village, the son of Harry and Mary. At the start he teaches you the somersault roll and hands over a common treasure. After the Ocean Temple he wants to fly, so you take him to Beedle’s Air Shop and he gives you Force Gem 4.

Mary

Mary is a villager of Aboda Village, the wife of Harry and mother of Joe and Rei.

Niko

Niko is the former pirate you may remember from earlier games. In Aboda Village he gives you the Stamp Book once Alfonzo is home, and pays out the Shield of Antiquity, Engineer’s Clothes and the Great Spin scroll as your stamp count grows.

Recruit

The recruit is a young soldier in training at Hyrule Castle, easy to spot in the plain recruit uniform.

Rei

Rei is a young villager of Aboda Village, the daughter of Harry and Mary and Joe’s sister.

Castle Town

Georgio

Georgio raises Cuccos and sells them in groups of five for 50 rupees. You need them for Harry’s farm and for Rael’s Cucco request.

Joynas

Joynas runs Take ’Em All On!, the boss-rush mini-game in Castle Town. Each run costs 50 rupees and the prizes include a Heart Container, a bigger Bomb Bag and rare treasures.

Lucia

Lucia wants fish. Once you have a Freight Car, bring her at least 10 fresh fish and she gives you Force Gem 12. Niboshi in Papuchia Village sells the fish.

Milo

Milo is a Castle Town resident you can speak to while walking the streets.

Mona

Mona is Bunnio’s wife. After the Ocean Temple she asks you to carry her from Castle Town to Rabbitland Rescue to see him, and she thanks you with Force Gem 3.

Shitate

Shitate is another Castle Town resident who stands in the town streets.

Trading Post

Linebeck III

Linebeck III is the grandson of the Linebeck from Phantom Hourglass and owns the Linebeck Trading Company. He is at the Trading Post, a station of its own in the Forest Realm. He points you to the Bridge Worker to fix the broken bridge, then sends you to find his grandfather’s buried Regal Ring to pay for it. Afterwards he buys your treasure and sells train cars.

Forest Sanctuary

Gage

Gage is the Lokomo guardian of the Forest Realm and plays the cello. He is the first Lokomo you meet. Playing a duet with him on the Spirit Flute restores the tracks to the Forest Temple.

Hyrule Castle

Castle Guard

The castle guards fail to stop Cole’s plot, and later they patrol the castle where you must sneak past them.

Russell

Captain Russell gives you the Recruit’s Sword and teaches the targeted, side and spin attacks. After the Snow Temple he writes inviting you back for sword training against three guards. For a 20-rupee fee, land at least 60 hits before taking 3 and you win a Heart Container; bigger scores win treasure.

Rabbitland Rescue

Bunnio

Bunnio runs Rabbitland Rescue. He gives you the Rabbit Net and rewards the rabbits you bring in, including a Heart Container for five and the Swordsman’s Scroll for all 50.

Whittleton

Dovok

Dovok is the chief of Whittleton. After the Ocean Temple, take him to meet Orca in Papuchia Village: she is looking for a husband, the two marry, and she thanks you with Force Gem 2.

Mash

Mash is a Whittleton villager who sells the lumber for the village’s cargo jobs. Bring him 5 Goron Iron from Goron Village once the lava is cooled and he gives you Force Gem 9.

Morris

Morris is another villager you can speak to in Whittleton.

Uriko

Uriko runs Whittleton’s general store and welcomes you to browse the goods.

Wood

Wood runs the Whip Race in Whittleton, which opens after the Ocean Temple and gives out a Heart Container for a fast enough time.

Yamahiko

Yamahiko is a Whittleton villager.

Snow Realm

The Anouki live in the north-west, and Kenzo and Steem are the other residents you need.

Anouki Village

Bulu

Bulu is an Anouki who lives in the south-eastern house of the village and is picky about who he patrols with. He is one of the villagers you pair up for Honcho.

Honcho

Honcho is the chief of the Anouki. He will only tell you the way to the Snow Sanctuary if you first pair every Anouki into a patrol team for the new village watch.

Kofu

Kofu is an Anouki who lives in the north-eastern house of the village. Once you have Force Gem 6, carry him to Goron Village and he gives you Force Gem 7.

Noko

Noko is an Anouki who makes Mega Ice. Drive him from Anouki Village to Wellspring Station and he gives you Force Gem 5, one of the three you need for the story.

Yefu

Yefu is an Anouki who lives in the south-western house of the village.

Yeko

Yeko is an Anouki from the north-western house. She also wants 15 pieces of lumber delivered with Kenzo aboard, for Force Gem 10, and she will partner with anybody except the Anouki with the “wimpy horns”.

Bridge Worker’s Home

Kenzo

Kenzo is the Bridge Worker who lives alone in the eastern Snow Realm. You carry him to the Trading Post, where he agrees to fix the broken bridge to the Ocean Realm for a steep fee. Later you ferry him to Anouki Village with lumber for Yeko’s Force Gem 10 job.

Snow Sanctuary

Akin

Akin owns the Anouki General Store. It sells a shield and potions, and it is the only shop with a Heart Container for sale, costing 2,000 rupees. Once you buy it, he restocks with a random 300-rupee treasure.

Steem

Steem is the Lokomo guardian of the Snow Realm and plays the biwa. Playing the duet with him restores the tracks to the Snow Temple. Later, bring him a Vessel from the Wise One in Papuchia Village and he gives you Force Gem 14.

Ocean Realm

Carben guards the Ocean Realm, and the rest of the cast lives in Papuchia Village.

Ocean Sanctuary

Carben

Carben is the Lokomo guardian of the Ocean Realm and plays the flute. He can speak with birds, so you find him in Papuchia Village among the birds. Drive him back to the Ocean Sanctuary for Force Gem 1, then play the duet that restores the tracks to the Ocean Temple.

Papuchia Village

Fuku

Fuku is a villager of Papuchia Village.

Kogane

Kogane is a villager of Papuchia Village.

Nagi

Nagi is a villager in Papuchia Village who tells you the village is led by a seer.

Niboshi

Niboshi sells fresh fish from a stall outside the shop. For 50 rupees you get 20 fish for the Freight Car, which you can carry to Lucia in Castle Town. After the Fire Temple he also wants 10 Mega Ice from Wellspring Station, and he gives you Force Gem 16.

Orca

Orca lives in the first house you reach. The village men have been kidnapped by pirates and the Wise One says she must marry this year. Later you carry Dovok to her, and she gives you Force Gem 2 when she weds Dovok.

Wadatsumi

Wadatsumi is one of the kidnapped villagers. You free him from the Pirate Hideout, drive him home and he gives you Force Gem 17.

Wise One

The Wise One is the village leader and a fortune teller. You answer her questions by blowing into the microphone, and she points you towards Carben.

Fire Realm

The Gorons live on the mountain, and the Lokomo of the realm waits at the Fire Sanctuary.

Altar of the Mountain Goddess

Kagoron

Kagoron is a Goron who prays to the Mountain Goddess at her altar for the volcano to calm. When he sees you are a Royal Engineer he lends you the Trusty Freight Car and sends you to fetch Mega Ice to cool the lava. Once the Dark Ore Mine is open he sends a letter with a map to a treasure in the mine.

Mountain Goddess

The Mountain Goddess is the deity the Gorons worship at the shrine just outside their village. You never see her. They turn to her when the mountain rumbles.

Fire Sanctuary

Embrose

Embrose is the Lokomo guardian of the Fire Realm and plays the timpani. After you quell the flames in his sanctuary, you play the duet with him to restore the tracks to the Fire Temple.

Goron Village

Goron Child

The Goron Child is the Goron Elder’s grandson. He tells you that fire geysers block the village. If you take him to Castle Town he gives you Force Gem 15.

Goron Elder

The Goron Elder lets you pass to the Fire Sanctuary once Mega Ice has cooled the lava blocking the village.

Tengoron

Tengoron is a Goron who lives in Goron Village.

Sand Realm

The Sand Realm has one named resident, the last Lokomo.

Sand Sanctuary

Rael

Rael is the Lokomo guardian of the Sand Realm and plays the oboe. He teaches you the duet that restores the tracks to the Sand Temple. Rael plays the shawm. Later, with the Sand Wand in hand, bring him five Cuccos and he gives you Force Gem 20.
