Unlock Versatility: Finding All Four Empty Bottles in Zelda: Twilight Princess
Empty Bottles are iconic and invaluable tools throughout the Legend of Zelda series, and Twilight Princess is no exception. These containers allow Link to carry essential supplies like health-restoring potions, vital lantern oil, life-saving fairies, and other useful liquids. Having all four bottles significantly increases your preparedness for the dangers lurking in Hyrule. Here’s your guide to locating every bottle:
Bottle #1: A Feline Favor
Location: Sera’s Sundries, Ordon Village
Requirements: Obtain the Fishing Rod from Uli.
Initial Contents: Half-full Bottle of Milk
How to Obtain:
- After receiving the Fishing Rod from Uli, head towards the small dock behind Mayor Bo’s house (the one with the large waterwheel).
- You’ll find Sera’s cat, perched and trying (unsuccessfully) to catch fish.
- Use your Fishing Rod near the cat. Catch one fish, then immediately cast again and catch a second fish.
- The delighted cat will snatch the second fish and run back home.
- Follow the cat to Sera’s Sundries (the village shop). Speak with Sera, who will be overjoyed her cat is eating again. As a reward for your help, she’ll give you your first bottle, conveniently half-filled with nourishing Milk.
Bottle #2: Essential Supplies
Location: Coro’s Shop, Faron Woods
Requirements: Dispel the Twilight covering the Faron Woods region.
Initial Contents: Full Bottle of Lantern Oil
How to Obtain:
- Progress through the main story until you have successfully restored the Light Spirit Faron, clearing the Twilight from the Faron Woods.
- Visit Coro, the friendly man living in a hut deep within the woods who looks after a small bird. He runs a small shop.
- Coro sells Lantern Oil, but recognizes you need a container first. He will offer you a bottle already filled with Lantern Oil for 100 Rupees.
- Purchase the bottle. This is necessary both for acquiring your second bottle and for keeping your Lantern fueled early in the adventure.
Bottle #3: A Lucky Catch
Location: Hena’s Fishing Hole, Upper Zora’s River
Requirements: Access to Hena’s Fishing Hole; Fishing Rod equipped.
Initial Contents: Empty
How to Obtain:
- Make your way to Hena’s Fishing Hole, located in the Upper Zora’s River region (north of Castle Town).
- Instead of entering Hena’s cabin immediately, explore the exterior area. Head towards the western side, near a small bridge crossing over the water.
- You’ll see a sign warning patrons “DON’T LITTER.”
- Stand near the edge of the water, roughly northwest of the bridge (near where the sign is), and cast your Fishing Rod into this specific area of the pond.
- It might take a few tries, but be patient. Instead of a fish, you’ll eventually hook and reel in an empty bottle someone carelessly discarded!
Bottle #4: A Ghostly Reward
Location: Jovani’s House, Castle Town
Requirements: Ability to transform into Wolf Link; Collect at least 20 Poe Souls.
Initial Contents: Full Bottle of Great Fairy’s Tears
How to Obtain:
- Embark on the optional side quest given by Jovani, a man cursed by greed and trapped within his house in Castle Town, turned partially to gold. His quest involves hunting down Imp Poes scattered across Hyrule and collecting their souls.
- Once you have collected at least 20 Poe Souls, return to Jovani’s House in Castle Town. (It’s the house with boarded-up windows, often accessed initially via a path from Telma’s Bar).
- As Wolf Link, use your senses near the front door to find a spot to dig, creating an entryway.
- Inside, speak with Jovani. Having 20 souls is enough to break part of the curse, allowing him limited movement. As a token of his gratitude for your efforts, he will reward you with your fourth bottle, filled with potent Great Fairy’s Tears (which fully restore health and temporarily boost attack power).
With all four bottles in your inventory, you’ll be well-equipped to carry a variety of helpful concoctions and critters, from life-restoring Red Potions and fairies to Lantern Oil, Water, Milk, Nasty Soup, and the powerful Great Fairy’s Tears. Managing your bottles wisely is key to conquering the challenges that await in the Twilight Realm and beyond!
