In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the “The Zora Child’s Fate” side quest involves assisting a young Zora in the River Zora Village. After completing the “Chaos at River Zora Village” main quest, you’ll find a distressed Zora child near a damaged house. He expresses concern about his mother’s unusual behavior and requests that you check on her.
Quest Overview
Location: River Zora Village
Quest Giver: Medaka, a young River Zora
Objective: Summon specific aquatic creatures for Medaka’s mother
Reward: Zora Scale accessory
Starting the Quest
After the events where Lord Jabu-Jabu storms through the village, return to River Zora Village. Near a destroyed house, you’ll encounter Medaka, a frightened young Zora who fears his mother might feed him to monsters due to his inability to swim. He asks you to check on his mother, initiating the quest.
Assisting Medaka’s Mother
Speak with Medaka’s Mother: Enter the nearby hut to find Medaka’s mother staring into a pool. She requests your help in summoning specific creatures for her research.
Summon the Requested Creatures: She will describe three creatures without naming them directly:
- Sinister Fish: Summon a Tangler Echo. These nearly spherical, scowling fish can be found in Lake Hylia.
- Monster that goes BOOM: Summon a Bombfish Echo. These explosive fish are located in Zora River, especially in caves near Jabu-Jabu’s Den.
- Shocking Jellyfish Monster: Summon a Biri Echo. These electrically charged jellyfish are found in the eastern side of Zora Cove.
Complete the Summoning: After summoning each creature into the pool, Medaka’s mother will study them. Once all three are presented, a cutscene will play where she gives Medaka a Zora Scale, enabling him to swim confidently.
Rewards
As gratitude for your assistance, Medaka’s mother will reward you with a Zora Scale accessory. When equipped, this charm allows Zelda to hold her breath longer underwater, enhancing diving capabilities.
Additional Tips
- Obtaining Echoes: If you haven’t acquired the necessary Echoes, revisit areas like Zora Cove and Zora River to find and learn them.
