Hidden Holes

​In The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Hidden Holes, also known as Secret Grottoes, are concealed underground chambers scattered throughout Termina. These hidden areas often contain valuable items, enemies, or puzzles. Accessing them typically involves locating subtle ground indicators, using explosives to uncover entrances, or spotting environmental clues like butterflies hovering over specific spots. Below is a comprehensive guide to these Hidden Holes, organized by region, detailing their locations and contents.​

Tip: If you are having trouble locating a hidden hole, butterflies are populated at their entrance, so keep an eye out for them!

Termina Field Secret Grottoes

North Termina Field:

1. Beneath Kamaro’s Stone Mushroom
   • Contents: Piece of Heart
   • Location: Under the stone mushroom where Kamaro dances at night.
2. Right of North Clock Town Entrance
   • Contents: Four Gossip Stones
   • Location: Near the entrance to North Clock Town, to the right of the snowy patch when exiting.​

East Termina Field:

3. On Top of a Pillar
   • Contents: Bombchu​
   • Location: On a pillar; requires the Hookshot to access.
4. Near the Wall Between the Astral Observatory and Ikana
   • Contents: Four Gossip Stones
   • Location: Close to the Astral Observatory; face it and look on the left side.​IGN
5. In Front of the Astral Observatory
   • Contents: Piece of Heart
   • Location: Southwest side of the Observatory, between the gate and the trees. Use the telescope to spot a Deku Scrub flying into this hole; follow and purchase the Piece of Heart.

South Termina Field:

6. Southeast Corner, Beneath the Long Grass
   • Contents: 20 Rupees
   • Location: In the tall grass area between the entrance to Milk Road and the Swamp, close to the “tree wall.”
7. Under Hollowed Root
   • Contents: Cows
   • Location: Under a hollowed tree root; listen for mooing sounds.
8. Long Grass by Milk Road Near Butterflies and Deku Baba
   • Contents: Piece of Heart
   • Location: In a clover patch outside Milk Road, indicated by butterflies hovering above and a Deku Baba nearby. Contains a Peahat; defeating it yields a Piece of Heart.

West Termina Field:

9. Beneath a Boulder by Great Bay
   • Contents: Piece of Heart
   • Location: Under a boulder near the entrance to Great Bay. Contains a deep pool with lily pads, Bio Deku Babas, and beehives. Defeat the enemies to obtain the Piece of Heart.
10. North of West Clock Town Entrance Beneath a Boulder
    • Contents: Four Gossip Stones
    • Location: Hidden under a boulder just north of the entrance to West Clock Town. Blow it up or punch it as Goron Link to access.

Southern Swamp Region Secret Grottoes

11. Southwest of the Piece of Heart Tree
    • Contents: 20 Rupees
    • Location: In the area southwest of the tree that grants a Piece of Heart.
12. Between Two Large Flowers North of Deku Palace
    • Contents: 20 Rupees
    • Location: Near the entrance to the Deku Palace, between two large flowers.
13. Woods of Mystery, Path for Day 2
    • Contents: 50 Rupees
    • Location: Along the path taken on the second day in the Woods of Mystery.
14. Deku Palace, Northeast Corner of the Palace Gardens
    • Contents: Magic Beans
    • Location: In the northeast corner of the Palace Gardens; accessible after sneaking past guards.

Snowhead Region Secret Grottoes

15. Mountain Village, Secret Path to Darmani’s Tomb in Springtime
    • Contents: 20 Rupees
    • Location: On a secret path leading up to Darmani’s Tomb during spring.
16. Twin Islands, Path to Goron Race Track
    • Contents: 20 Rupees
    • Location: Along the path leading to the Goron Race Track.
17. Twin Islands, Under Ice
    • Contents: Hot Springs
    • Location: Under a noticeable ice patch; use fire-based items to melt the ice and access the hot springs.
18. Road to Snowhead Temple, After the Second Set of Ramps
    • Contents: 20 Rupees
    • Location: Along the road to Snowhead Temple, after navigating the second set of ramps.

Great Bay Region Secret Grottoes

19. Great Bay Coast, Behind the Fisherman’s Shop
    • Contents: 20 Rupees
    • Location: Behind the Fisherman’s Hut on the coast.
20. Great Bay Coast, Cliffs Near the Gerudo Fortress
    • Contents: Cows
    • Location: In the cliffs area near the Pirate’s Fortress; listen for mooing sounds.
21. Zora Cape, Under a Boulder Near the Great Fairy Fountain
    • Contents: Bombchu
    • Location: Under a boulder near the entrance to the Great Fairy Fountain in Zora Cape.

Ikana Region Secret Grottoes

1. Road to Ikana Canyon: Beneath a Boulder Between Fences
   • Contents: Bombchu
   • Location: Along the path leading to Ikana Canyon, look for a boulder situated between two fences. Use a Bomb or the Goron Mask’s pound ability to destroy the boulder and reveal the hidden hole.
2. Ikana Graveyard: Stone Circle Near Skull Keeta
   • Contents: Bombchu
   • Location: In the Ikana Graveyard, locate the circular arrangement of stones near where you encounter Skull Keeta. The hidden hole is within this stone circle.
3. Ikana Canyon: Near the Entrance to the Secret Shrine
   • Contents: Bombchu
   • Location: In Ikana Canyon, proceed to the area near the entrance of the Secret Shrine, which is concealed behind the waterfall of the Ikana River. The hidden hole is situated close to this entrance.
