The Minish Cap has eight Wind Crests: Minish Woods, South Hyrule Field, Hyrule Town, Mt. Crenel, Castor Wilds, Lake Hylia, Veil Falls and the Cloud Tops. Each one is a stone tablet that crumbles when you check it, leaving a wind symbol on the ground. Once you own the Ocarina of Wind from the Fortress of Winds, you can play it outdoors, open the map, and the bird Zeffa flies you to any crest you have activated.

How warping works

When you take the Ocarina of Wind at the end of the Fortress of Winds, Ezlo explains that it lets you call Zeffa to carry you to any Wind Crest you have already visited. Open the item screen, play the Ocarina, pick a crest on the map and confirm. Make a habit of checking every tablet you pass, because a crest you never activated is not on the list.

Where each Wind Crest is

Minish Woods

Leave Belari’s house in the Minish Woods and step on the tree stump nearby (it is a Minish Portal) to grow back to normal size. A stone marker stands just north of the house; check it to reveal the crest. See Ascent to Mount Crenel.

South Hyrule Field

Follow the path west from the Minish Woods into South Hyrule Field. Your house stands in the middle of the field and the tablet is just north of it. Check it before you head on to Hyrule Town.

Hyrule Town

The stone is in the north of town, near the exit to North Hyrule Field and beside Funday School. Nothing is needed to activate it. See Infusing the Picori Blade. It is the most useful hub: the library, the market and the Castle Garden are all a short walk away.

Mt. Crenel

After Melari’s Mines, leave through the west door past the guard Minish, grow back at the nearby stone and check the tablet outside. It sits close to the Cave of Flames entrance. See Ascent to Mount Crenel.

Castor Wilds

Cross the marsh to the grass bank at its edge, where a small stone obelisk stands. Check it and it speaks, then crumbles, leaving a wind tile with a music note. Step on the tile to register the crest. See Castor Wilds Wind Crest. Guides describe its exact position differently because the marsh is large; look along the edge of the swamp.

Lake Hylia

You do not have to find this one: it is open as soon as you own the Ocarina, and the Ocarina’s first use after the Fortress of Winds takes you straight there. A tree stump marked with a note stands beside it. See Lake Hylia: Wind Crest.

Veil Falls

Climb to the plateau beside the falls, fight across it past the Octoroks and boulders, and look in the small alcove at the foot of the cliff for the tablet. See Veil Falls and the Cloud Tops.

Cloud Tops

The last crest is a tablet in the clouds in front of the Home of the Wind Tribe. Checking it completes the set of eight.
