Big Poes are fast, lantern-carrying ghosts that haunt Hyrule Field in the adult era. You can only catch them with Epona and the Fairy Bow: ride near a spawn spot to make one appear, shoot it before it escapes, and catch its soul in an empty bottle. The Poe Collector pays for each one and gives you a bottle once your total reaches 1000 points. This is one of the ways to get a bottle, so see Bottle Locations for the others.

How Big Poes work
A Big Poe appears when Link rides Epona across one of ten fixed spots in Hyrule Field; walking over a spot often summons a normal Poe instead. When the Big Poe sees you it flees, so shoot it quickly with an arrow from horseback. A defeated Big Poe leaves a soul that you catch with an empty bottle, and a bottle can hold only one Poe at a time. If you miss, leave the area and return to reset the spot.

The 10 Big Poe spots in detail
1. Market gate sign
In front of the gates leading to Hyrule Castle Town, ride Epona beside the wooden sign to make the Big Poe appear.
2. Castle stream shrubs
Left of Hyrule Castle, a stream runs past a patch of shrubs. Ride Epona through the shrubs on the left side of the stream.
3. Lone tree outside Lon Lon Ranch
Ride Epona alongside the lone tree outside Lon Lon Ranch.
4. Tree before Gerudo Valley
Go around the right side of Lon Lon Ranch to the tree just before the entrance to Gerudo Valley. Ride alongside it, ideally from the other direction if the first pass fails.
5. Gerudo Valley road
This is the hardest one to bring up and to hit. Ride down the road from the Gerudo Valley side and turn right to make it appear. Approaching from the left can also work.
6. Woods at the back of the field
At the back of the field there is a patch of woods. Cut down the bushes near the field edge, then ride Epona near them.
7. Brush by the woods
Facing the same patch of woods, there is a patch of brush on the right. Ride through it to make the Big Poe appear.
8. Grey boulder on the path
A grey boulder lies on the path between Lon Lon Ranch and the Kokiri Forest entrance. Ride Epona near it.
9. Wall corner
On the wall between Lon Lon Ranch and the Kokiri Forest entrance, ride Epona close to the corner. It can also appear above the wall.
10. Kakariko ledge
To the right of the Kakariko Village entrance is a ledge where the road runs underneath. Ride Epona through or over the ledge to make the last Big Poe appear.
Selling Big Poes to the Poe Collector
Take your caught Poes to the Ghost Shop in the ruined Market and speak to the Poe Collector. He pays 50 Rupees and adds 100 points to your card for each Big Poe. When your total reaches 1000 points, which takes ten Big Poes, he gives you an empty bottle. Carry several empty bottles to bank multiple Poes before you ride back, and sell one at a time. Poes still earn Rupees after you have the bottle.
