Heart Containers

Your first container waits at the end of the Temple of Fire on the Isle of Ember. Beat Blaaz with the Boomerang you found inside, then open the chest in the room beyond to take the heart.

Defeat Cyclok at the top of the Temple of Wind on the Isle of Gust. The container is in a chest on the pedestal where the fight ends, and the sand for your hourglass is added there too.

Fight your way up to the third floor of the Temple of Courage on Molida Island and win the fight with Crayk. A chest appears on the pedestal afterwards, and it holds the Heart Container.

Defeat the Diabolical Cubus Sisters on the Ghost Ship in the northwestern fog and pick up the container they leave behind. This fight does not add time to the Phantom Hourglass, but it still gives the heart.

Take down Dongorongo in the Goron Temple on Goron Island. Once the sand has been added, the Heart Container sits in a chest that appears in the boss arena itself.

Gleeok is the boss of the Temple of Ice on the Isle of Frost. After the two-headed dragon falls, collect its sand, then open the chest in the pedestal room beyond the boss room for the Heart Container.

The last boss container is in Mutoh’s Temple on the Isle of Ruins. After you beat Eox, collect the sand and open the chest on the purple carpet in the arena. It is the thirteenth and brings you to 16 hearts.

Beedle’s alter ego runs the Masked Ship, a separate shop from his usual boat. It only appears during certain hours of the DS clock: 10pm to midnight on weekdays and 10am to noon on weekends. Sail to it once you can afford 1,500 Rupees; the Heart Container is the last item left on the list. Check back at another time if the ship is missing.

Get the Fishing Rod from the Old Wayfarer on Bannan Island, after the mermaid mix-up there is sorted out. Catch a Skippyjack, a Toona and a Loovar, trade the Loovar for the Big Catch Lure, and land a Rusty Swordfish. Then hook the legendary fish Neptoona out at sea and show it to the Old Wayfarer, who rewards you with the Heart Container. The whole routine is explained on the fishing page.

Dock at the Traveler’s Ship in the Northwestern Sea and challenge the Prince of Red Lions, Nyeve, to a sparring match. There are four rounds. The first three pay out treasures; in the fourth you must land 100 hits before he strikes you three times, and a counter in the corner tallies your hits. Keep landing them and avoid his blows, and you receive the Heart Container.

After the Temple of Courage, the shooting range on Molida Island is open. Each game costs 20 Rupees and gives you 70 seconds and unlimited arrows to hit the targets. Your first score of 1,700 or more but under 2,000 earns a Quiver upgrade, and your first score of 2,000 or higher earns the Heart Container, so keep playing until you pass 2,000. The Mercay Island shop and the Goron Island shop can each stock a Heart Container for 2,000 Rupees, but only after you have cleared the Goron Temple and bought both the Quiver upgrade and the Bombchu Bag upgrade. Only one container is sold in total, so buy it at whichever shop you visit first.

Maze Island in the Northeastern Sea has three Boing Statue mazes. Clear Beginner (20 Rupees) and Normal (50 Rupees), then pay 100 Rupees for Expert, where you have 120 seconds to find 14 statues. You need the Grappling Hook to get through. Finishing Expert gives the Heart Container.
