Level 6: The Dragon takes Link to the western part of the overworld and introduces new enemy types like Wizzrobes, who teleport and shoot magic, demanding different combat strategies. The boss fight hinges on a specific item and a well-aimed shot.
Getting to the Dungeon
To reach Level 6: The Dragon, head to the west end of the Overworld, near the Graveyard. If you are at the exit of Level 5, go down one screen, left seven screens, down one screen, left one screen, down one screen, left one screen, and up one screen. Alternatively, from the starting point of the Overworld, go right two screens and use the Power Bracelet to push the left block, then take the middle staircase. From there, go down one screen, left one screen, and up one screen to reach the dungeon. A potion shop is conveniently located nearby if needed; go down one screen and right one screen from the dungeon entrance, then bomb the area between the two staircases.
Room-by-Room Guide
Initial Exploration and Key Items
Go through the right door from the dungeon entrance. Defeat the Orange Wizzrobes in this room to obtain a key. The Old Man in the locked room to the right provides a crucial hint for the boss: “AIM AT THE EYES OF GOHMA”. Go back left and through the locked door on the left. In this next room, defeat the four Wizzrobes (the specific one that appears might be random) and head up to the next room.
Defeat the five Zols in this room to get the Compass and then go up. The next room contains statues that shoot fireballs. Hide in the doorway to avoid these projectiles and use the Boomerang to defeat the Keese in the room. Once clear, go up to the next area.
Run straight ahead in the following room, carefully avoiding the Blade Traps, and continue up. Defeat the Blue Wizzrobes, the Bubble (which will temporarily disable your sword), and the Like-Likes in this room. Then, push the left block upwards to proceed. In the next room, you have the option to defeat the enemies for a Blue Rupee (worth 5 rupees) or blast open the right wall with a bomb for a shortcut, which will skip an item. Otherwise, continue up to the next room.
Here, you will face a three-headed Gleeok. Defeat it using your preferred method and then go through the door on the right.
Dungeon Map and the Magical Wand
Defeat the Zols and Like-Likes in this room to obtain the Map. Use a key to go up through the locked door. In the next room, defeat the five Wizzrobes and then push the left block to reveal a hidden staircase. Descend the stairs. In this underground passage, defeat the enemies and grab the Magical Wand. This item often has unique offensive capabilities. Exit this room and go down two screens (or down one and then right one if you are low on keys due to taking the shortcut earlier). In the middle of this room, grab the key and then go back left one screen. Use the key on the locked door below. Grab the key in the center of the next room and then proceed down.
Reaching the Boss
If you have the Magical Sword (obtained earlier in the overworld), you can easily defeat the Vires in the next room. If not, defeat them using your current weapon and then go through the door on the right. Defeat all the Like-Likes and Wizzrobes in the subsequent room.
Then, push the left block and go down the staircase. Navigate through the underground passage and then go down one screen, avoiding any enemies along the way. In the next room, defeat the Vires while also avoiding the Bubbles. Grab the Key in this room and then go left. Avoid the Blade Traps in the following room and quickly run past the Wizzrobes. Use the key to go up through the locked door.
Boss: Gohma
You will now face the boss of Level 6, Gohma. The Old Man’s hint is crucial here: “AIM AT THE EYES OF GOHMA”. To defeat this giant spider-like creature, you must wait for its eye to open and then shoot it with an Arrow. Avoid its fireballs while waiting for the opportune moment. One well-placed arrow should be enough to defeat Gohma. Upon its defeat, collect the Heart Container and the sixth shard of the Triforce of Wisdom.
Level 6: The Dragon introduces more complex enemy patterns and a boss fight that requires precise timing and the use of a specific item based on a clue, further emphasizing the puzzle-solving aspect of the game.
