Get ready to dive deep into the core players of this epic tale! These are the legends, the villains, and the guides whose actions shake Hyrule and the Twilight Realm to their very foundations. Their fates are inextricably linked, driving the heart-pounding adventure forward.
Link
Link begins his journey as a humble rancher in Ordon Village, appearing to be around seventeen years old. He is the bearer of the Triforce of Courage, a symbol of his destined heroism. When King Bulblin and his minions invade Ordon Spring, kidnapping Colin and Ilia, Link pursues them, leading him into the Twilight Realm. There, he transforms into a wolf, a form bestowed upon him by the goddesses’ protection.
Upon restoring light to the Faron Province, Link awakens as the Chosen Hero, donning the iconic green tunic reminiscent of the Hero of Time. His quest involves aiding Midna in collecting the Fused Shadows and retrieving the missing shards of the Mirror of Twilight. Ultimately, Link confronts and defeats Ganondorf, restoring peace to both the realms of Light and Twilight.
Midna
Midna serves as Link’s companion throughout the adventure, characterized by her snarky demeanor and dark humor. A descendant of the Twili, she was rightfully crowned as the Twilight Princess. However, Zant’s betrayal led to her transformation into an imp. Midna encounters Link when he is imprisoned as a wolf in Hyrule Castle, proposing a partnership to collect the Fused Shadows. After a near-fatal encounter with Zant in the Lanayru Spring, Midna is saved by Princess Zelda, who sacrifices her power to heal her.
Despite her initial intentions, Midna grows to care deeply for Link and the Light World. Upon defeating Zant and confronting Ganondorf, Midna’s true form is restored. In the game’s conclusion, she returns to the Twilight Realm, shattering the Mirror of Twilight to sever the connection between the two worlds, signifying her acceptance of her role as the true ruler of the Twili.
Zelda
Princess Zelda is the reigning monarch of Hyrule during the events of Twilight Princess. When Zant attacks Hyrule Castle, she surrenders to protect her people, resulting in her imprisonment within the castle. Possessing the Triforce of Wisdom, Zelda retains her physical form amidst the encroaching twilight. She selflessly transfers this power to Midna to save her life after a devastating assault by Zant.
Later, Zelda aids Link in the battle against Ganondorf, wielding Light Arrows granted by the Light Spirits. Her unwavering courage and wisdom play a pivotal role in the restoration of peace to Hyrule.
Zant
Zant, once a member of the Twili, harbored ambitions of ruling the Twilight Realm. When passed over for the throne in favor of Midna, his lust for power led him to ally with Ganondorf, who granted him formidable dark magic. With this newfound power, Zant usurped the throne, transforming his fellow Twili into Shadow Beasts and invading the Light World.
His actions cast Hyrule into twilight, forcing Princess Zelda to surrender. Zant’s tyranny extends to personal vendettas, as he transforms Midna into an imp and curses Link into his wolf form. Upon confronting him in the Palace of Twilight, Link defeats Zant, and Midna uses her restored powers to end his reign permanently.
Ganondorf
Banished to the Twilight Realm by the Sages due to his possession of the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf manipulates Zant by presenting himself as a deity, offering power to fulfill Zant’s ambitions. Unbeknownst to Zant, Ganondorf’s true intent is to use him as a means to escape the Twilight Realm. After Zant’s defeat, Link and Midna confront Ganondorf in Hyrule Castle. During the final battle, Link delivers a decisive blow with the Master Sword, leaving Ganondorf’s fate ambiguous.
Hero’s Spirit
The Hero’s Spirit, also known as the Hero’s Shade, is the lingering spirit of the Hero of Time from “Ocarina of Time” and “Majora’s Mask.” Regretting his inability to pass on his combat knowledge during his lifetime, he seeks to impart his skills to his descendant, Link. Assuming the form of a golden wolf in the living world, he guides Link to hidden realms where he teaches seven Hidden Skills, enhancing Link’s swordsmanship and preparing him for the challenges ahead.

Ashei, the daughter of a former Knight of Hyrule, is a formidable warrior and member of the Resistance. Trained in swordsmanship from a young age, she conducts research on the Yeti tribe in the Snowpeak Mountains. She provides Link with a sketch of Yeto holding a Reekfish, aiding his quest. Ashei also wields a bow to assist in battles, notably during the confrontation at Hyrule Castle.
Rusl

As a member of the Resistance, Rusl aids Link in locating the Temple of Time within the Sacred Grove. He demonstrates his prowess by summoning a hawk to intercept an arrow aimed at Link during the battle at Hyrule Castle, showcasing his commitment to protecting his allies.
Shad
Shad is a scholarly member of the Resistance with a keen interest in the Oocca, an ancient sky-dwelling race. After Link acquires the Ancient Sky Book from Impaz, Shad attempts to activate a statue in the Sanctuary using the book’s language. Although initially unsuccessful, his actions inadvertently restore power to the Dominion Rod. Shad collaborates with Link to uncover the remaining Sky Characters scattered across Hyrule.
His research and efforts culminate in the discovery of the Sky Cannon, which Fyer subsequently repairs, enabling Link’s journey to the City in the Sky. During the assault on Hyrule Castle, Shad and the other Resistance members intervene to save Link from enemy forces, demonstrating their solidarity and bravery.

At the game’s onset, she is abducted alongside the other children of Ordon Village by King Bulblin. Later, Link discovers Ilia in Telma’s bar in Castle Town, suffering from memory loss. Through Link’s efforts, Ilia’s memory is eventually restored, and she gifts him the Horse Call, enabling him to summon Epona at any time.
Mayor Bo
Bo serves as the mayor of Ordon Village and is Ilia’s father. Renowned for his sumo wrestling skills, he once earned the respect of the Gorons by using the Iron Boots to enhance his weight during matches. He mentors Link in the art of sumo wrestling and provides him with the Iron Boots, essential for Link’s journey to Death Mountain.
Jaggle
Jaggle, husband to Pergie and father of Malo and Talo, is a resident of Ordon Village. He introduces Link to the art of using reeds to summon hawks, a skill that proves useful in various situations. Fado
Fado is a laid-back resident of Ordon Village who works at Ordon Ranch. Although around the same age as Link, he appears to be Link’s employer. Due to his relaxed attitude, Fado sometimes struggles with managing the Ordon Goats, occasionally requiring Link’s assistance to herd them back when they escape into the village.

When Link collects all the Tears of Light in Faron Woods, Faron’s power is restored, enabling Link to return to his human form and continue his quest.
Coro
Coro is a resident of Faron Woods, living in a small hut near the Faron Spring. Recognizable by his large afro, which birds have used as a nest, Coro is known for his lackluster cooking skills. Coro has two sisters, Iza and Hena, who also run their own businesses.
Trill
Trill is Coro’s pet bird, an intelligent toucan who operates a shop near the Forest Temple. He sells Lantern Oil and Red Potion to travelers. If Link attempts to leave without paying the correct amount, Trill will attack, causing damage until Link either pays or escapes. Paying less than the required amount results in Trill calling Link a cheapskate, while paying more earns Link praise as a generous young man.
Monkey
In Twilight Princess, a mischievous monkey plays a recurring role in aiding Link. Initially, this monkey steals Uli’s cradle, prompting Link to retrieve it using a hawk. Later, the monkey leads Talo into the Faron Woods, resulting in both getting trapped in a wooden cage, from which Link rescues them. When Faron Woods is enveloped in Twilight, Wolf Link encounters the monkey being harassed by Shadow Insects. Additionally, the monkey assists Link by stealing his Lantern to guide him through areas filled with poisonous fog, ensuring safe passage.

Renado also offers medical care to Prince Ralis when Link, Ilia, and Telma bring the ailing Zora prince to Kakariko for treatment.
Barnes
Barnes is the bomb maker of Kakariko Village, operating Barnes Bombs. Initially, his supply line is disrupted due to tensions with the Gorons, but after Link resolves the issues in the Goron Mines, Barnes expands his inventory to include standard Bombs, Water Bombs, and Bomblings. Notably, he is cautious about fire hazards; if Link lights his lantern inside the shop, Barnes promptly extinguishes it to prevent accidents.
Darbus
Darbus is the patriarch of the Goron tribe on Death Mountain. After coming into contact with a Fused Shadow, he is transformed into the monstrous Fyrus. The Goron Elders seal him within the Goron Mines to contain the threat. Link undertakes the mission to defeat Fyrus and restore Darbus to his original form. Grateful, Darbus later aids Link by clearing a path to the Hidden Village, showcasing his strength and leadership.
Gor Coron
Gor Coron is one of the Goron Elders and temporarily assumes leadership during Darbus’s transformation. Initially skeptical of outsiders, he challenges Link to a sumo wrestling match to test his worthiness. Upon Link’s victory, Gor Coron permits him to access the Goron Mines to confront the evil within. He later assists in the quest to restore Ilia’s memory and provides guidance regarding the Hidden Village.
Gor Liggs

Prince Ralis
As the son of the late Queen Rutela and King Zora, Prince Ralis is the Crown Prince of the Zoras. Following Zant’s invasion, which led to Zora’s Domain freezing over, Queen Rutela sent Ralis to seek Princess Zelda’s aid. Along the way, he was attacked but rescued by Ilia. With the assistance of Telma, Link, and Ilia, Ralis is safely transported to Kakariko Village for treatment by Renado. In gratitude, he gifts Link the Coral Earring, essential for catching a Reekfish—a key to ascending Snowpeak Mountain.
Queen Rutela
Queen Rutela, the late wife of King Zora and mother to Prince Ralis, was executed by Zant’s forces as a warning against opposition. Her spirit implores Link to ensure her son’s safety, leading to Ralis’s escort to Kakariko Village. In appreciation, Rutela guides Link to her husband’s grave, where he obtains the Zora Armor, enabling underwater breathing.
Impaz
An elderly resident of the Hidden Village, Impaz assisted Ilia in reaching Castle Town, during which Ilia misplaced her Horse Call. When Link inquires about the Dominion Rod, Impaz reveals her tribe’s legend of the sky people and provides Link with the Ancient Sky Book, pivotal for his journey.
Jovani
Driven by greed, Jovani sold his soul to Poes in exchange for wealth, resulting in his transformation into gold. After Link collects 20 Poe Souls, Jovani and his cat, Gengle, regain mobility, though Jovani remains golden. He rewards Link with a bottle containing Great Fairy’s Tears. Upon gathering all 60 Poe Souls, Jovani returns to normal and expresses gratitude by giving Link a Silver Rupee (200 Rupees). Subsequently, he can be found in Telma’s bar, lamenting over his lost girlfriend. Additionally, Gengle offers Link a free Silver Rupee upon each visit.
Chudley/Malver
Initially the snobbish proprietor of Chudley’s Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium in Castle Town, Chudley refuses entry to those with unpolished shoes. After Malo Mart acquires his shop, he undergoes a transformation in demeanor, adopting the name Malver and becoming notably friendlier.
Postman
The diligent Postman ensures timely delivery of letters to Link throughout his journey. He can be encountered in various locations, including Telma’s bar, the Elde Inn, Ordon Ranch’s barn, near the throne in Zora’s Domain, and on the 50th floor of the Cave of Ordeals during subsequent playthroughs.
Purlo
Purlo oversees the STAR Game in Castle Town. Initially skeptical of Link’s abilities, he continually modifies the game’s difficulty. Upon Link’s repeated victories, Purlo eventually requests that Link refrain from participating further. Notably, he exhibits an aversion to canines, sneezing when Wolf Link enters the premises.
Soal
Soal is a young boy who sits outside of Chudley’s Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium and shines shoes, since Chudley will not allow anyone with dirty shoes to enter his shop. For Soal to polish Link’s shoes, it’ll cost him 10 Rupees. However, Link must pay this fee each time he enters and exits the shop, or when it has been a while since his shoes had been shined. Soal seems to disappear once Malo Mart takes over Chudley’s Emporium.
Iza
Iza is the oldest of Coro and Hena. She is the owner of the Boat Rental Cabin and Iza’s Rapid Ride in Upper Zora’s River. After clearing the twilight of the Lanayru Province and destroying the Shadow Beasts that appear in Upper Zora’s River, Iza asks Link to use Bomb Arrows to clear out the boulders blocking the flow of the river.
King Zora
King Zora, the late husband of Queen Rutela and father to Prince Ralis, was the esteemed ruler of the Zora people. Although he does not appear directly in “Twilight Princess,” his legacy is significant. King Zora crafted the Zora Armor, a special garment designed for the chosen hero to breathe and move freely underwater. After escorting Prince Ralis to Kakariko Village, Link is guided by Queen Rutela’s spirit to King Zora’s grave, where she bestows the Zora Armor upon him in gratitude for aiding her son.
Louise
Louise is the perceptive and loyal feline companion of Telma, the proprietress of Telma’s Bar in Hyrule Castle Town. She plays a crucial role in assisting Wolf Link by revealing a secret passageway through Telma’s bar and the sewer system, leading into Hyrule Castle. Additionally, Louise provides valuable information regarding the possible location of Ilia’s Wooden Statue, aiding Link in his quest.
Gengle
Gengle is the feline companion of Jovani, a man who, in his greed for riches, sold his soul to Poes and was consequently transformed into a golden statue. During this time, Gengle became trapped atop Jovani’s head. After Link collects 20 Poe Souls, Jovani partially regains his mobility, allowing Gengle to move freely. As a token of gratitude, Gengle provides Wolf Link with unlimited Silver Rupees (each worth 200 Rupees) after all 60 Poe Souls are collected, significantly aiding Link’s financial resources.

If Link retaliates or behaves aggressively towards Purdy, Hena promptly intervenes and ejects him from the Fishing Hole premises, emphasizing the importance of treating Purdy with respect.
Supporting Characters – Other Areas
Hyrule is a sprawling kingdom full of surprises! This collection brings together the fascinating folks Link meets outside the main provinces – from the bustling streets of Castle Town and the hidden Resistance fighters to the chilly peaks of Snowpeak and the dusty Gerudo Desert. Expect the unexpected!
Sages
The Sages protect the Mirror of Twilight at the Arbiter’s Grounds. After Link defeats Stallord, the Sages explain what happened when they tried to execute Ganondorf: the Triforce of Power saved his life when he was impaled by the Execution Sword. Ganondorf rushed forward and killed the Sage of Water, stunning the other Sages. In a last-chance attempt, the Sages activated the Mirror of Twilight to banish Ganondorf in the Twilight Realm. When the Sages tell Link that Zant tried to destroy the Mirror of Twilight, but failed, Link sets out to find the other three missing pieces of the Mirror.
Ooccoo and Ooccoo Jr.
These two are of the race of Oocca that live in the sky. Ooccoo and her son, Ooccoo Jr., meet Link at each major temple (except City in the Sky) and allow Link to use Ooccoo like an item to escape from the temple if he needs to gather supplies or get some fresh air. If Link does this, he would be transported back to the room from where he originally warped. Ooccoo would remain inside that room, and Link would take Ooccoo Jr. with him wherever he goes, and would use him to warp back to Ooccoo. Throughout the game, Ooccoo mentions an artifact of her people, which is the Dominion Rod, which is for what she and her son have been searching.
King Bulblin
King Bulblin is the leader of the Bulblins. He rides Lord Bullbo and carries a horn that is used to summon Bulblins and Shadow Beasts. The king is first seen in Ordon Spring, when he and a few of his minions kidnap Ilia and Colin. Link and King Bulblin meet again in Kakariko Village, where Colin is once again abducted. King Bulblin and Link have a contest similar to a jousting match on the Bridge of Eldin.
On the Great Bridge of Hylia, when Link is escorting Ilia, Telma, and Prince Ralis to Kakariko Village, King Bulblin and Link meet again. This time, King Bulblin wears shields on both sides so Link cannot slash at him with his sword. In the Bulblin Camp in the Gerudo Desert, Link fights King Bulblin alone. After his defeat, King Bulblin sets the wooden cabin where the fight was held on fire, causing Link to have to mount the nearby Bullbo and break through the gate to escape. Link and King Bulblin meet for the last time at Hyrule Castle. When Link defeats him, he says that he serves only the strongest side. This surprises Link and Midna, since Bulblins were thought to have been only capable of vocal abilities such as grunting.
Skull Kid
Link first encounters the Skull Kid in the Sacred Grove after he is transformed into a wolf by Zant. Skull Kid plays a game of hide-and-seek with Link to lead him to the Master Sword. Along the way, Skull Kid blows his horn to summon Puppets for Link to fight. The second time Link must find the Sacred Grove, the Skull Kid and his Puppets reappear. The process repeats, although the second game of hide-and-seek is more difficult.
Yeto
Yeto is the husband of Yeta who lives in the Snowpeak Ruins. Ashei drew a sketch of Yeto holding a Reekfish, the scent Link uses to find Yeto at Snowpeak Top. When questioned by Link, Yeto reveals that he found a Mirror Shard, and all Link must do is follow Yeto to his house to get it. However, the house turns out to be the next temple, and Link must fight his way through it to get the Shard. After clearing the Snowpeak Ruins, Link can go back and sled race Yeto and Yeta anytime he wants.
Yeta
Yeta is the wife of Yeto who lives in the Snowpeak Ruins. Yeta was the one who found the Mirror Shard, making her ill. When Link makes it to the Snowpeak Ruins, her sickness confuses her, and she continues to give Link false directions to the bedroom, where the Shard is being kept. However, once Link finally does acquire the Bedroom Key, Yeta is about to give the Mirror Shard to Link when she stares at it for too long, causing the evil to possess her. She becomes Blizzeta, boss of the Snowpeak Ruins. When Link defeats Blizzeta, Yeto rushes into the room, and helps Yeta recover. After clearing the Snowpeak Ruins, Link can go back and sled race Yeto and Yeta anytime he wants.
Great Fairy
The Great Fairy is found in the Cave of Ordeals in the Gerudo Desert. Every ten floors, Link meets the Great Fairy, and she releases regular fairies into one of the Spirit’s Springs. If Link should reach the end of the Cave, the Great Fairy would give him a bottle of Great Fairy’s Tears, which is his reward for completing the Cave of Ordeals each time.
