Twilight Princess: Guardian Puzzle

Welcome back to the Sacred Grove! After navigating its misty paths once and perhaps encountering Skull Kid, you’ll find yourself in an area with two imposing guardian statues. As you approach, they spring to life, tasking you with guiding them “back to where they once stood.” This triggers a unique block-pushing style puzzle where your movements dictate theirs.

This guide, complete with maps for both the GameCube and Wii versions (and applicable to the HD version), will help you navigate this challenge.

How the Puzzle Works

1. Mimicking Jumps: The core mechanic is simple: when Link jumps from one platform to another (using the ‘A’ button), both statues attempt to jump in the same direction relative to their current position.
2. Safe Platforms: They can only land on adjacent, existing platforms.
3. Failure Condition: If either statue attempts to jump where there is no platform, bumps into a wall, or collides with the other statue, both guardians will instantly return to their starting positions, and you’ll need to restart the sequence.
4. Free Movement: You can walk around freely on the platforms as Link; only the act of jumping triggers the statues’ movement.

Solving the Puzzle: Step-by-Step

Position Link on the platform directly between the two starting pedestals where the statues begin, facing north (towards the statues and the exit).

Follow the sequence of jumps below precisely for your version of the game. Remember, each instruction corresponds to one jump made by Link.

Important Note for HD Version:
– If playing Twilight Princess HD on Wii U Normal Mode, use the Wii Version instructions.
– If playing Twilight Princess HD on Wii U Hero Mode (which mirrors the world), use the GameCube Version instructions.

Tips for Success

• Visualize: Before each jump, quickly check where both statues will land to ensure the path is clear for them.
• Take Your Time: There’s no time limit. Plan your sequence carefully.
• Resetting is Okay: If you make a mistake and the statues reset, don’t worry. Just return to the starting platform and try the sequence again.
