Quest: A Letter to Koyin
Starting Location: Message in a Bottle on the Akkala Coast (Northeast Hyrule)
Ending Location: Hateno Pasture, Hateno Village (East Necluda)
Quest Giver: The Bottle Itself! Find it washed ashore.
Alright, Special Delivery Time!
You’re cruising the coastline up in Northeast Akkala. Think the area generally between the North Akkala Beach Stable and the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. Scan the beaches, coves, and inlets along the water (around coordinates 4150, 3170, 0000 is a common spawn area, but currents might move it slightly). You’re looking for a Glass Bottle glinting in the sand or bobbing near the shore. Snag that thing!
Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:
Find the Bottle: Patrol the northeast Akkala coastline until you spot the Message in a Bottle. Interact with it (A
button) to pick it up.
Read the Letter: Open your inventory (+
button), navigate to Key Items, find the “Letter in a Bottle,” and select “Read.” This officially adds the quest to your log and usually marks Koyin’s general location on your map. The letter mentions someone named Koyin and her interest in cheese.
Journey to Hateno: Time for a road trip (or a warp)! Make your way to Hateno Village in the rolling hills of East Necluda. The Zanmik Shrine is a convenient warp point right in the village.
Locate Hateno Pasture: From the center of Hateno Village, head east. Go past the Dye Shop (Kochi Dye Shop) and the cluster of unique houses built by Bolson Construction. Keep heading east out of the main village area, and you’ll see a fenced-off pasture with distinctive Hateno Cows, some farm buildings/sheds, and likely a pond. This is Hateno Pasture.
Find Koyin: Look for an NPC named Koyin. She’s usually found tending to the cows, near the shed, or by the small pond within the pasture area during the daytime.
Deliver the Letter: Walk up to Koyin, start a conversation (A
button), and when prompted, choose the option to give her the letter you found. She’ll be thrilled!
The Payoff:
For playing postman, Koyin gives you the very first sample of delicious Hateno Cheese! Even better, delivering the letter inspires her, and she’ll start selling Hateno Cheese from then on (check back with her periodically). This cheese is a key ingredient in several tasty recipes!
Good luck, mail carrier! Cheese awaits!
