| Drops | Most enemies drop hearts and Rupees; Chus leave jelly, Imp Poes leave Poe Souls and Shadow Insects leave Tears of Light |
| Hero Mode | Enemies deal double damage and hearts do not appear |
This list covers the enemies you meet across Hyrule and the Twilight Realm. For each one you get where it appears, the quickest way to beat it as Link, what changes as Wolf Link, and what it drops. Mini-bosses and bosses such as Death Sword and Darkhammer are in the boss guide. Many enemies are only fought in human form. Wolf Link fights in the Twilit regions, the Palace of Twilight and the Hyrule Castle rooftops, and is the only way to see Imp Poes, Ghoul Rats and Shadow Insects. Drop details are approximate.

Enemy entries
Aeralfos
Where: City in the Sky, Hyrule Castle and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: A winged, armored Lizalfos that hovers out of reach and dives. It raises its shield before a dive, so arrows bounce off. Fire the Clawshot at the shield to pull the Aeralfos to the ground, then slash it while it cannot fly. The City in the Sky one guards the Double Clawshots; see the boss guide. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Hearts, Rupees.

Armos
Where: Temple of Time, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows. As Link: Face-shaped stone statues that carry a hammer and a shield. They sit still until you walk up, then glow and hop toward you. Keep out of the way of the hops, get behind one and attack from the back; the Ball and Chain gets through the shield. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.

Baba Serpent
Where: Forest Temple, Faron Woods and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: A Deku Baba that can leave its roots. Once cut free it hops around hunting you. Spin attacks handle several, and one that has clamped onto you lets go if you spin. Some hang from the ceiling; the Gale Boomerang knocks them down. As Wolf Link: Bite it before it lunges, or stay out of reach. Drops: Hearts, Rupees.

Baby Gohma and Young Gohma
Where: Temple of Time and Cave of Shadows. As Link: Small spiders that hatch from the eggs of Armogohma and swarm you. One or two sword hits each; a spin attack clears a group, and you should kill them quickly before they surround you. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Arrows when you are low, hearts.

Bari
Where: Lakebed Temple (only in the water). As Link: A jellyfish that creates an electric field when you come near, and the field lasts a short time. Wait until the shock fades, then slash it, or shoot it from a distance with the Hero’s Bow. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Beamos
Where: Goron Mines, Temple of Time, Cave of Ordeals and several caves. As Link: A statue with a single rotating eye that fires a beam when it sees you. The brown ones in the Goron Mines shoot fire and the thin white ones in the Temple of Time shoot pink energy. Shoot the red eye with an arrow to disable one, or smash it with the Ball and Chain. In the Temple of Time, a statue under your Dominion Rod control can also destroy a white one. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Big Baba and Deku Like
Where: Forest Temple and City in the Sky (Deku Likes appear only there). As Link: A Big Baba is a huge plant with a heavy head that slams or headbutts you; stay out of reach, let it overextend and hit its head. Deku Likes are stationary plants with a mouth: throw a Bombling or a bomb in, and it chews and explodes. If you fall into one, it swallows you for a heart of damage. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Hearts; a Big Baba in the Forest Temple holds a Small Key.

Bokoblin
Where: Hyrule Field (south and east parts), Faron Woods, the Forest Temple path, Great Hylian Bridge, Hyrule Castle and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: Goblin-like grunts. Blue ones carry a wooden club; the later purple ones wield swords. They gather in groups and screech when a friend falls. Shield bash then slash, or use the Back Slice or Helm Splitter. Purple ones are tougher, so take them one at a time. As Wolf Link: A wolf can bite and spin-attack small groups in Twilit areas; use Midna’s charge attack if several surround you. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Bombfish
Where: Lakebed Temple and Morpheel’s chamber. As Link: Small swimming bombs that explode when they touch you. Dodge them or shoot them before they reach you; Morpheel fires them during the first phase. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Bombling
Where: Forest Temple and the Diababa fight. As Link: Walking bomb bugs that bite and then explode. You can also use them: lock the Gale Boomerang onto one and it carries the Bombling to its target, which is how you feed bombs to Deku Likes and to Diababa. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Bomskit
Where: Hyrule Field. As Link: Insect-like pests that lay explosive eggs when chased. A single arrow or Slingshot shot kills one, and the worms in its remains can be scooped into a bottle as fishing bait. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Worms (bait).

Bubble, Fire Bubble and Ice Bubble
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds, Snowpeak Ruins, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows. As Link: Flying skulls that sit on the floor until you approach, then grow wings. A plain Bubble can be hit with the sword or shot. Fire and Ice Bubbles are wrapped in flames or frost; knock the element off with the Gale Boomerang or shoot them from a distance first. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.
Bulblin
Where: Hyrule Field, Gerudo Desert and Bulblin Camp, Goron Mines courtyard, Hidden Village, Hyrule Castle and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: Green-skinned raiders that carry either a club or a bow. Archers fire flaming arrows and Bomb Arrows, so shoot or Clawshot them first, then shield bash and slash the club carriers. Spin attacks help against crowds. The leader is King Bulblin; see the boss guide. As Wolf Link: Wolf Link can bite and use Midna’s charge attack on Shadow Bulblins in Twilit areas; keep moving to dodge arrows. Drops: Rupees, hearts, arrows.

Bullbo
Where: Hyrule Field, Gerudo Desert and Bulblin Camp. As Link: The huge boars the Bulblins ride, with a rider and an archer on each. They are very tough and cannot be harmed easily, so aim for the riders. A Bomb Arrow stops a charging Bullbo. When the rider is knocked off, a Bullbo goes wild and throws its archer; you can then ride it yourself, though not use items. A roast Bullbo in the Gerudo Desert drops hearts when slashed. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Chilfos
Where: Snowpeak Ruins and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: Ice warriors that carry a spear-like icicle and throw it like a javelin. Hold your distance, block the javelin and slash while it makes a new one. Two Bomb Arrows or one Ball and Chain swing kill it, and a Helm Splitter, Jump Strike or Back Slice finishes it at once. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Chu
Where: Lakebed Temple, Snowpeak Ruins, Cave of Ordeals, Hyrule Field and many caves. As Link: Slimy blobs that merge into bigger ones. Red, Blue and Yellow Chus each leave jelly. Red Chu Jelly heals you, Blue Chu Jelly restores all your hearts and Yellow Chu Jelly refuels the Lantern. A Blue and a Yellow merge into a Green Chu (Wii and HD only), and a Red, Yellow and Blue into a Purple Chu that splits into smaller Chus when cut; Purple Chu Jelly has a random effect. Rare Chus sparkle and leave Rare Chu Jelly, which works like Great Fairy‘s Tears. They are in the Cave of Ordeals, in a cavern on Death Mountain and in hidden caves under trees in Hyrule Field, at Snowpeak and in the desert, and under the barn in Ordon. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Chu Jelly (scoop it with an empty bottle), Rupees.

Chu Worm and Shell Jelly
Where: Lakebed Temple. As Link: A Chu Worm hops into a Shell Jelly when it spots you and cannot be hurt there. Pull it out with the Clawshot and strike it, or pop the jelly with a Bomb Arrow. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.

Darknut
Where: Temple of Time, Hyrule Castle and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: A knight in heavy armor with a big sword and shield. Make it guard, run behind it and slash its back to break plates off; a Helm Splitter breaks the helmet. Without armor it is faster, so dodge and counter in the gaps. The Ball and Chain does well; the Magic Armor helps in the Cave of Ordeals. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Deku Baba and Shadow Deku Baba
Where: South Faron Woods, Forest Temple, City in the Sky and caves (Shadow Deku Babas in Twilit areas and the Palace of Twilight). As Link: A plant that lunges only when you come near and otherwise hides in its base. Wait for the lunge, then slash. Shadow Deku Babas are the Twilit version and behave the same way. As Wolf Link: Bite it as it retracts, or run past. Drops: Hearts, Rupees.

Dodongo
Where: Goron Mines, Lantern Cavern, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows. As Link: A gecko-like lizard with a tough hide and a huge mouth that breathes fire. Throw a bomb or shoot an arrow or Bomb Arrow into its open mouth; the tip of its tail is also vulnerable. Watch for the tail sweep. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Dynalfos
Where: Temple of Time, City in the Sky, Hyrule Castle, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows. As Link: A plate-armored Lizalfos with an axe and a large shield bearing an eye symbol. Counter its attacks with Hidden Skills, use the Shield Attack or the Helm Splitter, or soften it with Bomb Arrows before it spots you. The Ball and Chain breaks through the shield. It leaps back to its feet quickly after a knockdown, which makes the Ending Blow hard. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Fire Toadpoli
Where: Goron Mines (in the lava). As Link: An armored frog that swims in lava and spits fireballs that can burn a wooden shield. Slash the fireball back with your sword to hit it. It dives when you get close. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.

Freezard and Mini Freezard
Where: Snowpeak Ruins, Cave of Ordeals and caves in Hyrule Field. As Link: A Freezard is a dragon-like beast of ice that blows an icy gale. It can only be broken by a cannon blast or the Ball and Chain, and it shatters into Mini Freezards, small chunks of ice that you can clear with the sword. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Hearts, Rupees.

Ghoul Rat and Rat
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds, Hyrule Castle and the Cave of Ordeals (plain Rats in several dungeons). As Link: Rats gnaw on skulls and are easy to kill. Ghoul Rats are invisible and cling to you, slowing you and stopping you from jumping off ledges at full speed. You cannot see them as a human. As Wolf Link: Turn into a wolf and use your senses: you can see and kill Ghoul Rats only this way. One spin attack removes all that are clinging to you. Drops: Rupees.

Gibdo (ReDead Knight)
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows. As Link: Mummified undead that lie still until you approach, then rise and drag a sword toward you. Within range they let out a paralyzing scream before attacking. Avoid their front, strike from behind and use the Ball and Chain; mash buttons to break free if you are frozen. They are also known as ReDead Knights. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Guay
Where: Hyrule Field and Gerudo Desert. As Link: Black crows that swoop at you in flocks. Shoot them down with the Slingshot or Hero’s Bow before they dive, or knock them back with a spin attack. As Wolf Link: Hard to bite; run through. Drops: Rupees.

Helmasaur and Helmasaurus
Where: Lakebed Temple, Temple of Time, City in the Sky, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows. As Link: Rhino-like beasts with an armor plate over the head and back. They squeal and charge until they hit a wall. A Clawshot hit on a Helmasaur rips off the plate, and then you can slash the head. The larger Helmasaurus keeps its plates, so wait for it to hit a wall and attack from behind. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Hylian Hornet
Where: Ordon Village, Kakariko Graveyard and the Fishing Hole. As Link: Hornets in beehives. They only attack if you knock the hive down or come near it, and a sting costs a quarter heart. Knock a hive down with the Slingshot or Hero’s Bow, or use the hawk to disperse them; a broken hive leaves Bee Larva you can scoop into a bottle. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Bee Larva.

Imp Poe
Where: Hyrule at night, graveyards, the Cave of Ordeals and the City in the Sky (always daylight there). As Link: Doll-like ghosts that carry a scythe and a lantern on their feet. As a human you see only the lantern and cannot hurt them. As Wolf Link: Fight them as Wolf Link with senses on, hit them until they fall, then rip out the soul with the Ending Blow. 60 Poe Souls in total; see Poe Souls. Drops: Poe Soul.

Poe
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds (four in the central room). As Link: Four Poes steal the fire from the four torches in the central room. They are visible and attackable only in wolf form. As Wolf Link: As Wolf Link, track them with your senses, defeat them and rip out their souls; the fire returns and the north door opens. Drops: Poe Soul.

Kargarok and Shadow Kargarok
Where: Hyrule Field, City in the Sky and the Hyrule Castle courtyard (Shadow Kargaroks in Twilit regions). As Link: Large winged beasts that swoop and strike with their beaks. Shoot them with the Hero’s Bow or Clawshot them out of the air; a Bulblin riding one should be shot first. As Wolf Link: Shadow Kargaroks first appear on the castle rooftops. Jump and bite when they dive low. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Keese, Fire Keese, Ice Keese and Shadow Keese
Where: Dungeons, caves and the Cave of Ordeals; Fire Keese in the Goron Mines, Ice Keese in the Snowpeak Ruins, Shadow Keese in Twilit areas. As Link: Bats that pause before they strike, so you can hit them first. A spin attack clears a swarm. The Gale Boomerang puts out the flames or ice of a Fire or Ice Keese, turning it into a plain one. As Wolf Link: Shadow Keese attack the same way; bite them as they pause. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Leever
Where: Gerudo Desert and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: Plant-like creatures that rise from the sand in groups and circle you before attacking. A spin attack or a well-timed slash defeats them. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Lizalfos
Where: Lakebed Temple, Temple of Time, Hyrule Castle, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows. As Link: Agile lizard warriors that come in two kinds, one with an axe blade on its tail and one with a skull mask, and often attack in pairs. Bomb Arrows and the Back Slice or Mortal Draw take them down fast. Separate a pair and take one at a time. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Moldorm
Where: Gerudo Desert and the quicksand of Arbiter’s Grounds. As Link: A worm that leaps from the sand to bite. Pull it out with the Clawshot and strike it before it can burrow back. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Peahat
Where: City in the Sky. As Link: A floating plant with a spinning propeller. The ones in the City in the Sky serve as Clawshot anchors for the Argorok fight, so you rarely need to destroy them. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.

Poison Mite
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds, near the quicksand. As Link: Swarms of mites that crawl over you and slow you down. They do no damage. Spin attacks kill them, and a lit Lantern keeps them in a circle around you. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Puppet
Where: Sacred Grove (the Skull Kid’s helpers). As Link: Small puppets that the Skull Kid calls up whenever you hit him. They keep coming back, so shoot the Skull Kid with the Hero’s Bow instead of clearing them all. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Shadow Beast
Where: Portals in Hyrule’s Twilight and the Twilight Realm. As Link: Corrupted Twili that drop out of portals, often in packs. If one is left alive it howls and revives the others, so the last two must fall at the same time. Wide-area attacks such as the spin attack work, but the Jump Strike and Mortal Draw do not. As Wolf Link: Use Midna’s charge attack (the wolf energy field) and attack the groups together. When a group is cleared, you can warp from that spot. Drops: Rupees, hearts (after the portal closes).

Shadow Bulblin
Where: Twilit areas of Hyrule Field and Lake Hylia. As Link: The Twilit version of the Bulblin archer and rider. As Wolf Link: Chase the archer, dodge his arrows and bite him. The Twilit Bulblin at Lake Hylia calls a giant Kargarok; see the boss guide. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Shadow Insect
Where: Faron, Eldin and Lanayru Twilight (12 per province in HD). As Link: The creatures that carry the stolen light. Only wolf senses show them. As Wolf Link: Track each with senses and bite it before it escapes. Each leaves a Tear of Light; see Tears of Light. Some hide and must be flushed out, such as the group in the fireplace of Barnes’s storehouse. Drops: Tear of Light.

Shell Blade
Where: Lakebed Temple and Zora’s Domain. As Link: A giant shellfish that stays shut until you come near, then opens. Wait for it to open and hook the muscle inside with the Clawshot, or slash it. It is the only ordinary enemy that bleeds. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Skullfish
Where: Lakebed Temple and secret caves around Hyrule Field. As Link: Bony fish that swim fast at you in schools. Strike them in the water, or use the Iron Boots to fight on the bottom. You can also catch them with a fishing rod (not recorded in the Fish Journal). As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.
Skulltula and Walltula
Where: Skulltulas in the Forest Temple, Cave of Ordeals and Cave of Shadows; Walltulas on walls and vines, including the City in the Sky. As Link: Skulltulas have an armored front. Strafe and hit the side or back. The hanging kind in the Forest Temple is attacked as it descends. Walltulas cling to walls and vines and fall on you when you climb; shoot them first with the Slingshot, Hero’s Bow or Clawshot. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Stalfos
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds, Hyrule Castle graveyard and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: Skeleton warriors with a sword and shield. The shield blocks the front, so shield bash to open them or strike the sides. They fall into bones and rebuild if you leave them. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Stalchild (Stalkin)
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds, Hyrule Castle graveyard and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: Small skeletons that arrive in groups. They fall to one or two sword hits, and a spin attack clears a crowd. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Stalhound
Where: Hyrule Field at night, south of Castle Town and the Cave of Ordeals. As Link: Skeletal dogs that burst out of the ground, usually in pairs, and pack larger groups in the Cave of Ordeals. The sword is enough. The Wooden Statue in Ilia’s memory quest is guarded by a horde of them south of Castle Town. As Wolf Link: Not usually met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Staltroop
Where: Arbiter’s Grounds (the Stallord fight). As Link: Skeletons that rise from the sand and form a barrier in front of Stallord’s spine. One hit turns one into sand, but they respawn endlessly: dodge or bounce off them with the Spinner. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Tektite
Where: Goron Mines and Lakebed Temple. As Link: One-eyed jumpers that float on water. Red and blue ones are identical. Hit them as they land, or shoot them. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.

Tile Worm
Where: Forest Temple and City in the Sky. As Link: A worm that disguises itself as a floor tile and lunges if you step on it. Hit it with the Gale Boomerang to pull it out of its hole and stun it, then slash. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.

Toado
Where: Lakebed Temple (the Deku Toad fight). As Link: Tadpoles that hatch in groups from eggs on the Deku Toad’s back. One sword hit kills one and a spin attack clears many. Bomb Arrows into the back destroy the eggs. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Toadpoli
Where: Lakebed Temple, Lake Hylia and Zora’s River. As Link: Frog-like enemies that spit. Block the shot with the shield and slash, or use bombs and the Hero’s Bow. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.

Torch Slug
Where: Goron Mines, Dig Cavern, Cave of Ordeals and caves. As Link: Burning slugs that crawl on walls and ceilings and drop on you, sometimes knocking you into lava. They die to any single hit. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees.

White Wolfos
Where: Snowpeak Ruins (the courtyard) and the Cave of Shadows. As Link: Fast, wolf-like beasts that pounce. Block the pounce with the shield and counter, or use the Ball and Chain and Hidden Skills such as the Back Slice. Defeat the ones in the Snowpeak courtyard before you dig up the buried Small Key. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: Rupees, hearts.
Zant’s Mask
Where: Palace of Twilight. As Link: Giant copies of Zant’s helmet that teleport and fire balls of dark magic. Block or deflect the shot, and a deflected ball stuns the mask. Arrows bounce off. The Master Sword takes three hits; after it is charged with the Sols, one hit destroys one. Clearing an area always makes a chest with a key appear. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None (a chest appears).

Zant’s Hand
Where: Palace of Twilight (both wings). As Link: A hand that chases you when you carry a Sol and tries to take it back. It cannot be destroyed while it chases, only stunned: hit it with the sword when it drops down, shoot it three times or Clawshot it three times. The Clawshot also retrieves a Sol the hand has taken. As Wolf Link: Not met in wolf form. Drops: None.

Hazards
Spike traps and Floor Spikes
Sliding blades and spikes in dungeons such as the Temple of Time and Hyrule Castle. They cannot be destroyed, so time your run.

Pathblades
Mechanical blades that race along a track. They are impervious to attacks; stay off their path.
Quicksand
In Gerudo Desert and Arbiter’s Grounds; sink quickly, so Clawshot or use the Spinner across it. Ghoul Rats make you sink faster.

Dark Fog
Zant’s fog in the Palace of Twilight; a spin attack with the light-charged Master Sword clears it.
