Quest: An Eerie Voice (Part of the “Potential Princess Sightings!” questline)
Starting Location: Highland Stable (Faron Region, south Hyrule)
Quest Giver: Penn (Rito Reporter for the Lucky Clover Gazette)
Important Note: This quest takes place in Faron, not Akkala. The main Akkala-based Gazette quest is “The All-Clucking Cucco.”
Decoding the Spooky Sounds of Faron!
This adventure starts down south in the grasslands of Faron. Make your way to Highland Stable, located south of Lake Hylia along the main road near Haran Lake. The closest shrine is usually Utsushok Shrine.
Your Mission: Investigate the Voice!
Find Penn: Look for Penn, the Rito reporter working for the Lucky Clover Gazette. He’s usually found outside Highland Stable during the daytime, often interviewing stable hands or looking towards Haran Lake. He wears distinctive reporter attire. Talk to him (A button).
Get the Scoop: Penn will tell you about reports of a strange, eerie voice—maybe sounding like Princess Zelda—coming from the direction of Haran Lake (just north of the stable) at night. He needs you to check it out.
Head Towards the Sound: Go north from the stable towards Haran Lake. As you get closer, especially if it’s quiet, you might hear the faint “voice” yourself.
Locate the Well: The sound seems to be emanating from the Highland Stable Well. It’s usually marked on your map as a small square structure very close to the stable, often near the road or lake edge.
Dive In!: Position yourself over the well opening and jump down (B button then push forward).
Find the Source: Inside the well, you’ll find it’s not a ghost or Zelda! It’s Sagessa, a Hylian woman who got trapped down there. Her calls for help were echoing strangely out of the well opening.
Help Sagessa: Talk to Sagessa. She might just need someone to talk to, or there might be some breakable rocks blocking her path out that you need to destroy (use a hammer-type weapon, bombs, or Yunobo’s ability). Clear the way if necessary.
Return to Penn: Once Sagessa is okay or the path is clear, climb back out of the well (use the walls or the Ascend ability L if the ceiling allows). Find Penn back at Highland Stable.
Report Your Findings: Talk to Penn and tell him you found the source of the voice – it was just poor Sagessa trapped in the well. Case closed!
The Payoff:
Rupees: Penn rewards you with Rupees for solving the mystery. The amount might increase based on how many Gazette quests you’ve already completed.
Questline Progression: This counts as one completed investigation for the “Potential Princess Sightings!” main quest, getting you closer to uncovering the truth about Zelda and earning the full Froggy Armor set.
Mystery solved! Just a case of bad acoustics and poor spelunking.
