Field Research: Monster Combat Edition!
Make sure you’ve helped Robbie get settled back into the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab (on the hill in Northeast Akkala, near Jochi-iu Shrine) and likely completed some of his earlier tasks (Purah Pad sensor upgrades, etc.). When you talk to him again inside the lab, he might mention needing combat data on specific monsters found in the surrounding Akkala region.
Your Mission: Hunt for Science!
Get the Hit List: Talk to Robbie inside the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. He’ll explain his need for combat data and give you a specific list of monster types to defeat within the Akkala region. He might also specify a quantity for each type (e.g., “Defeat 3 Electric Lizalfos”). Check your Adventure Log (- menu) for the exact requirements after accepting the task. Common targets include:
- Electric Lizalfos
- Aerocudas
- Fire Wizzrobes
- Specific tiers of Bokoblins (e.g., Black Bokoblins) or Moblins.
Gear Up: Prepare for hunting in Akkala. Consider elemental resistances (rubber armor for electricity, heat resistance if near Eldin border) and pack plenty of arrows.
Hunt in Akkala: Travel around the Akkala region to find your targets. Some location tips:
- Electric Lizalfos: Often found near water sources (rivers, coastline), during thunderstorms, or camouflaged on cliffs/rocks. Try near Gemimik Shrine or the Akkala coast. Use wooden/bone weapons/shields or ranged attacks to avoid shock.
- Aerocudas: Look up! These flying enemies often circle high peaks, ruins (Akkala Citadel Ruins are a hotspot), or Skyview Towers (Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower). Arrows are essential. They sometimes carry other enemies or crates.
- Fire Wizzrobes: Tend to float around ruins or open fields, often changing the weather locally. The area around the southern Akkala Span sometimes has them. Use Ice Arrows for quick kills.
- Bokoblin/Moblin Camps: Found throughout the Akkala Highlands (the grassy areas). Target the specific color/tier Robbie requested. Skull-shaped camps on your map are key locations.
Confirm Kills: Defeat the required number of each monster type on Robbie’s list. The quest log should ideally track your progress, but keep count yourself just in case.
Return to Robbie: Once you’ve fulfilled the quota for all specified monsters, travel back to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.
Report Your Success: Speak with Robbie inside the lab and inform him that you’ve gathered the combat data (defeated the monsters).
The Payoff:
Robbie will be pleased with the data for his research! He’ll reward your monster-slaying efforts with:
- A decent payment in Rupees.
- Possibly relevant Monster Parts from the creatures you hunted.
- Maybe some Zonaite or other research-related materials.
- Progressing Robbie’s overall research goals.
