Cotton Candy Hunt (Echoes of Wisdom Side Quest)

Introduction

In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the “Cotton-Candy Hunt” side quest offers players an engaging challenge within the Faron Wetlands. This quest becomes accessible after completing the main quest “A Rift in the Faron Wetlands” and the side quest “Let’s Play a Game” at the Eastern Temple.

Initiating the Quest

To begin, travel to Scrubton and speak with a Deku Scrub located on the west side of the village. This character will mention seeing a large piece of “cotton candy” floating south of the village, hinting at a new adventure. Starting the Cotton Candy Hunt side quest

Locating the Hidden Ruins

Following the Deku Scrub’s clue, head south from Scrubton to discover the Hidden Ruins. Upon arrival, you’ll encounter a pond with two unlit torches and a Drippitune enemy. Defeat the Drippitune to stop the rain, allowing you to light the torches using fire-based Echoes. Lighting both torches will cause a Deku statue to move, revealing a staircase leading down into the Hidden Ruins. Hidden Ruins location

Navigating the Hidden Ruins

Inside the Hidden Ruins, you’ll face a series of puzzles primarily involving Sparks and yellow blocks:

First Room: Guide two Sparks into the yellow block to unlock the door. This can be achieved by leading existing Sparks or summoning Spark Echoes directly into the block.

Second Room: Clear spider webs using fire-producing Echoes to reveal Sparks. Then, direct these Sparks into the yellow block to proceed.  Alternatively, use Spark echo directly on the block.

Third Room: Utilize the ‘Bind’ ability to move obstacles and guide three Sparks into the yellow block. Alternatively, summon Spark Echoes directly into the block to simplify the process.

Boss Battle: Smog

At the dungeon’s end, you’ll re-encounter Smog:. Use single-block Echoes like the Wooden Box and tall Echoes like the Decorative Shrub to nudge the clouds together. Once Smog is reformed, employ ranged attacks, such as the Boomerang Boarblin Echo or the Swordfighter form’s bow, to inflict damage. Smog Boss Battle

Rewards

Upon defeating Smog, you’ll receive a Heart Piece, enhancing your health capacity. Returning to the Deku Scrub in Scrubton will result in your Ancient Charm being upgraded to the Curious Charm, which significantly reduces damage taken when equipped.
