Wade through side‑quests: time your button-press with the Postman (bonus with the Bunny Hood), conquer the expert log‑splitting challenge at the Swordsman’s School, and play shooting galleries and carnival games at Honey & Darling’s daily mini‑games and East Town’s galleries. South Clock Town – Clock Tower Balcony

Stock Pot Inn – Restroom
Requirements: Any paper item (Land Title Deed, Letter to Kafei, Letter to Mama, etc.)
Between Midnight (12:00 AM) and 6:00 AM on any day, enter the Stock Pot Inn’s restroom (downstairs). Approach the toilet, and a mysterious hand named ??? will emerge asking for paper. Give it any paper item you possess (the Land Title Deed is commonly used) to receive a Piece of Heart.
North Clock Town – Deku Scrub Playground
Requirements: Deku Mask, Rupees
Enter the fenced-off area accessible via a small ramp. As Deku Link, talk to the Deku Scrub running the playground game. Pay 10 Rupees to play. You must successfully glide between all platforms and collect the scattered rupees within the time limit. Win the game perfectly three days in a row (the layout changes each day) to earn the Heart Piece.
West Clock Town – Post Office
Requirements: Bunny Hood (Recommended)
Enter the Post Office between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM on the First or Second Day. Talk to the Postman as normal Link. He’ll challenge you to his timing mini-game. Press the ‘A’ button to stop the timer exactly at 10 seconds (10″00). The Bunny Hood makes seeing the timer easier. Win to get the Heart Piece.
West Clock Town – Swordsman’s School
Requirements: Rupees
Enter the Swordsman’s School and pay 10 Rupees for the “Expert Course” training. You must destroy all 10 log targets using only jump attacks (A button while Z/L-Targeting and jumping sideways/backwards). Score a perfect 30 points to win the Heart Piece.
East Clock Town – Honey & Darling’s Shop
Requirements: Bombs (Day 1), Hero’s Bow (Day 2 & 3), Rupees
Explanation: Visit Honey & Darling’s Shop each day (First, Second, Final) between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM and pay 10 Rupees to play their mini-game. You must get a perfect score each day.

North Clock Town – Keaton Quiz
Requirements: Keaton Mask
Explanation: Find the group of moving bushes in North Clock Town. Wear the Keaton Mask and cut down the bushes. A Keaton (fox spirit) will appear and quiz you. Answer all of his questions correctly (questions are random but relate to game events/characters). Success earns a Heart Piece.
West Clock Town – Rosa Sisters
Requirements: Kamaro’s Mask
Find the Rosa Sisters practicing their dance routine near the west entrance between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM on the First or Second Night. Wear Kamaro’s Mask and perform the dance (B button) in front of them. They will recognize the dance and reward you with a Piece of Heart.
Stock Pot Inn – Anju’s Grandmother (Story 1)
Requirements: All-Night Mask
Enter the Stock Pot Inn between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM on the First or Second day. Go upstairs to the room with Anju’s Grandmother. Wear the All-Night Mask and agree to listen to her first story (“Carnival of Time”). At the end, when asked a question, choose the top answer (“On the eve of the carnival”). She will give you a Piece of Heart.
Stock Pot Inn – Anju’s Grandmother (Story 2)
Requirements: All-Night Mask
After hearing the first story (or later on Day 1/2 between 8 AM-6 PM), wear the All-Night Mask again and listen to Anju’s Grandmother’s second story (“The Giant of Termina”). At the end, choose the bottom answer (“I dunno”). She will give you another Piece of Heart.
East Clock Town – Mayor’s Residence
Requirements: Couple’s Mask
Obtain the Couple’s Mask by completing the lengthy Anju and Kafei sidequest. Enter the Mayor’s Office (room on the left inside the residence) between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM on any day while the Mayor is holding his meeting. Wear the Couple’s Mask in front of the arguing attendees. This will resolve their dispute, and Mayor Dotour will reward you with a Piece of Heart.
Termina Field (5 Pieces)
This sprawling overworld conceals five Heart Pieces, hidden in grottoes and holes scattered around. After spotting a Business Scrub’s fall via telescope, drop into the hole outside the Astral Observatory to purchase your first for about 100–150 Rupees.
Elsewhere, stumble into hidden pits in grassy clearings, snowy pass-throughs, and sandy patches—each a miniature combat gauntlet against Peahats, Dodongos, Bee-infested grottoes (where you drop a Bee Hive and swim down in Zora form), and giant Gossip Stone puzzles requiring mask‑song combinations like Sonata of Awakening, New Wave Bossa Nova, Goron Lullaby and others to recolor stones and unlock a chest.
Outside Astral Observatory – Business Scrub Trade
Requirements: Access to Astral Observatory (via Moon’s Tear), Rupees
After giving the Moon’s Tear to the Business Scrub in Clock Town, use the fixed telescope in the Observatory and look towards the Clock Tower. You’ll see a cutscene of a Business Scrub flying into a hole near the Observatory’s exterior. Go outside and drop into that hole. The Business Scrub inside will sell you a Piece of Heart for 150 Rupees (you can refuse once to haggle the price down to 100 Rupees).
Hidden Hole near West Clock Town Exit
Requirements: Bombs, Hero’s Bow, Zora’s Mask
Find a hole hidden under a large rock in the western part of Termina Field, near the path to Great Bay Coast. Bomb the rock and drop in. Inside, defeat the two Bio Deku Babas. Look up to spot a beehive hanging from the ceiling; shoot it down with an Arrow. Equip your Zora Mask and swim to the bottom of the water to claim the heart piece.
Four Gossip Stone Holes
Requirements: Deku Mask, Goron Mask, Zora Mask, Ocarina with respective songs (Sonata of Awakening, Goron Lullaby, New Wave Bossa Nova)
There are four holes in Termina Field, each containing four Gossip Stones (one large, three small). You must play the correct song to the large Gossip Stone in each hole using the corresponding transformation mask to turn it the same color as the smaller stones.
- Hole 1 (South of Clock Town): Use Deku Mask, play Sonata of Awakening.
- Hole 2 (West, near Great Bay path): Use Ocarina (no mask needed), play any song matching the color shown (often requires Link’s Ocarina version of a song).
- Hole 3 (North, near Snowhead path): Use Zora Mask, play New Wave Bossa Nova.
- Hole 4 (East, near Milk Road path): Use Goron Mask, play Goron Lullaby.
Once all four large Gossip Stones are correctly harmonized, you’ll receive a Piece of Heart.
Woodfall (Southern Swamp Area) (7 Pieces)
This murky, ambient swamp offers seven Heart Pieces bridging platforming, photo quests, and toys of timing. Climb the great tree on the road into the swamp for a simple hidden piece, then atop the roof of the Tourist Center using the Land Title Deed and a Deku Flower. Take the Pictograph Contest before clearing the Woodfall Temple—snap a photo of either the Deku King or Tingle to win.
Inside the Deku Palace’s garden maze, navigate past guards in Deku form for another. Platform hop near the temple entrance via Deku Flowers to reach a floating chest. Finally, test your bow at the Swamp Shooting Gallery—earn the Large Quiver, then hit a perfect score again for your Heart Piece. The boat‑target minigame completes the set post‑temple.
Road to Southern Swamp – Tree Top
Requirements: None (basic climbing/platforming)
On the path leading from Termina Field into the Southern Swamp area, look for a very large, tall tree. Defeat any Bad Bats around it, then carefully climb the vines/branches to reach the Piece of Heart sitting at the very top.
Southern Swamp – Swamp Tourist Center Roof
Requirements: Deku Mask, Land Title Deed
Obtain the Land Title Deed from the Clock Town Business Scrub (after giving him the Moon’s Tear). Go to the Southern Swamp Tourist Center building. Outside, trade the Land Title Deed to the Swamp Business Scrub. Use the Deku Flower he vacates to launch yourself onto the roof of the Tourist Center to collect the Heart Piece.
Southern Swamp – Swamp Tourist Center Pictograph Contest
Requirements: Pictograph Box, Deku Mask (optional, for safety)
Before clearing Woodfall Temple, obtain the Pictograph Box from Koume after rescuing her. Take a pictograph of either Tingle (found floating nearby) or the Deku King (inside the Deku Palace). Show the picture to the man running the Swamp Tourist Center. If he likes it (Tingle or Deku King pics work), he’ll give you a Piece of Heart.
Woodfall Area – Platform Chest
Requirements: Deku Mask (for access)
In the Woodfall area (where the temple entrance is), look to the left of the main temple structure. There’s a series of platforms leading to a chest on a wooden platform. Use Deku Flowers or careful jumping to reach the chest containing the Heart Piece.
Southern Swamp – Koume’s Boat Cruise Target Game (N64 Version)
Requirements: Hero’s Bow, Bottle
First, rescue Koume the witch in the Woods of Mystery (give her bottled Red Potion or play Song of Healing). Then, clear the Woodfall Temple. Afterwards, talk to Koume at the Swamp Tourist Center to start her boat cruise target shooting game. Score 20 or more hits on the targets while riding the boat to win.

Snowhead (Mountain Village Area) (4 Pieces)
Three more await this frozen pass. After defeating Goht in Snowhead Temple, the thaw reveals new opportunities: dive into the unfrozen pond on Road to Goron Village as Zora Link to claim a chest-hidden piece. In Mountain Village, gather frogs for a choir performance wearing Don Gero’s Mask, then return to the lead frog to receive your reward. Finally, traverse a snow‑rift on the Road to Snowhead using the Scarecrow’s Song, Hookshot, Lens of Truth and Goron‑rolls to reach the last high‑up chest of this area.
Goron Village – Business Scrub Trade
Requirements: Deku Mask, Swamp Title Deed
Obtain the Swamp Title Deed from the Swamp Business Scrub. Go to Goron Village and find the lone Business Scrub near a ledge. As Deku Link, trade him the Swamp Title Deed. Use the Deku Flower he vacates to launch to the ledge above and collect the Heart Piece.
Mountain Village – Twin Islands Underwater Chest
Requirements: Zora Mask, Snowhead Temple Cleared
After clearing Snowhead Temple, the winter thaw will turn Mountain Village into spring. Go to the lake area with two large rock pillars (Twin Islands). Dive underwater as Zora Link and find a chest at the bottom between the islands containing the Heart Piece.
Path to Snowhead Temple – Invisible Platforms
Requirements: Lens of Truth, Hookshot, Scarecrow’s Song
On the winding path up Snowhead mountain towards the temple, after crossing the second set of bridges/ramps where Goron Link rolls, look across a gap to see a lone, distant platform with the Heart Piece. Use the Lens of Truth to reveal invisible ice platforms leading partway across. Stand on the last visible platform, pull out the Ocarina, and play the Scarecrow’s Song to summon Pierre the scarecrow on the distant platform. Use the Hookshot to grapple onto Pierre and reach the Heart Piece.
Mountain Village – Frog Choir
Requirements: Don Gero’s Mask, Snowhead Temple Cleared
Explanation: After clearing Snowhead Temple and thawing the Mountain Village, find the frog sitting by the lake. Wear Don Gero’s Mask and speak to it. You must then find the other four frogs scattered across Termina and speak to them with the mask:
- Clock Town: Laundry Pool.
- Southern Swamp: On a log near the path to Deku Palace (before Woodfall area).
- Woodfall Temple: Defeat the Gekko mini-boss.
- Great Bay Temple: Defeat the Gekko mini-boss.

Romani Ranch hides a single heart piece—but don’t underestimate it. Learn the winning pup via a Mask of Truth tip, then place a bet and win 150 Rupees in one night’s session in the Doggy Race. If you’re lucky and fast with your rupees and your favourite dog, this unique test of speed and gamble rewards your health bar with a Piece of Heart
Mamamu Yan’s Doggy Racetrack
Requirements: Rupees, Mask of Truth (Highly Recommended)
Enter the Doggy Racetrack building at Romani Ranch between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM (must clear the Milk Road boulder first). Talk to Mamamu Yan to place bets (10-90 Rupees) on the dog races. Use the Mask of Truth to read the dogs’ thoughts – pick the one expressing confidence or determination (“feels unstoppable,” “run like the wind,” etc.). If your chosen dog wins and your payout is 150 Rupees or more (usually means getting odds of 3x or higher), Mamamu Yan will reward you with a Piece of Heart.
Great Bay (9 Pieces)
Coastal and underwater challenges here yield 10 Heart Pieces. Blast caged hearts in the Pirates’ Fortress with Goron mass-rolling and Bunny Hood parachuting. Secure the Giant’s Seahorse by photographing a pirate, exchanging it for a seahorse, and unlocking Pinnacle Rock’s underwater cavern .
In Great Bay Coast, load onto the Fisherman’s boat and win the Jumping Game (score ≥ 20). Inside Zora Hall, read Mikau’s diary and jam with Japas using the Zora Guitar. Tackle the Marine Lab aquarium—feed one fish until it devours the rest, then it coughs up a Heart Piece. Lurking waterfalls hide Like-Likes you can defeat in Zora form. Finally, race the beavers in Beaver Falls—beat both brothers for a timed prize .
Great Bay Coast – Marine Research Lab Aquarium
Requirements: At least 1 Empty Bottle (more makes it faster)
Inside the Marine Research Lab, notice the small aquarium near the entrance containing several orange fish. Catch at least 5 regular fish from the nearby pools outside using Empty Bottles. Feed these fish one by one to the largest orange fish in the tank. After eating 5 fish, it will spit out a Piece of Heart.
Zora Hall – Jam Session with Japas
Requirements: Zora Mask, Ocarina
Enter the Zora Hall. Go into Mikau’s room (the one with the diary) and read the diary entry about his jam session with Japas. This teaches Link the bass part. Go next door to Japas’s room. Take out your Zora Guitar (Ocarina buttons) and play the bass part ( A, ↓, →, A / N64: A, C-Down, C-Right, A). Japas will then teach you the melody part ( ↓, →, ↓, L / N64: C-Down, C-Right, C-Down, C-Left). Play the full song together (Bass then Melody) to impress Evan, the band leader in the room next door (Lulu’s room), who gives you the Heart Piece.
Zora Hall – Lulu’s Room Business Scrub Trade
Requirements: Goron Mask, Deku Mask, Mountain Title Deed
Obtain the Mountain Title Deed from the Goron Village Business Scrub. Go to Zora Hall and enter Lulu’s room. As Goron Link, trade the Mountain Title Deed to the Business Scrub hiding there. Then, switch to Deku Link and use the Deku Flower he vacates to launch up to the high ledge containing the Heart Piece.
Pirate’s Fortress – Sewers Cage
Requirements: Zora Mask, Goron Mask
While infiltrating the Pirate’s Fortress underwater via the sewers, look for a barred cell containing a Heart Piece. Nearby, find breakable wooden barrels covering a floor switch. As Zora Link, smash the barrels. Quickly switch to Goron Link, step on the floor switch to temporarily open the cage, then quickly roll or run into the cage to grab the Heart Piece before it closes. Alternatively, the Bunny Hood can be used to get to the cage quickly.
Pinnacle Rock – Rescue Seahorse
Requirements: Zora Mask, Pictograph Box, Empty Bottle
Take a pictograph of a Gerudo Pirate (found in the Fortress). Show the picture to the fisherman in the small hut on the Great Bay Coast beach. He’ll give you a Seahorse in a bottle. Take the Seahorse to Pinnacle Rock (the murky area with two large rocks sticking out). Release the Seahorse, and follow it carefully through the underwater maze. Defeat all 8 Deep Pythons you encounter along the way. Upon reaching the end cave where the seahorse reunites with its mate, they will give you a Piece of Heart.
Zora Cape – Waterfall Rapids Beaver Race Rematch
Requirements: Zora Mask, Hookshot
Use the Hookshot on the palm tree above the waterfall at Zora Cape to reach the upper cave entrance. Inside, race the Beaver Brothers as Zora Link by swimming through rings. Winning the first race earns you an Empty Bottle. Challenge them to a second race immediately after. Beat the faster time limit (swim through more rings within the time) to win the Piece of Heart.
Great Bay Coast – Scarecrow Platform
Requirements: Hookshot, Magic Bean, Song of Storms (or Bottle of Spring Water)
On the cliffs separating the main Great Bay Coast area from the Pirate’s Fortress lagoon, look for a Hookshot target post near the wall. Hookshot across to a small platform with a patch of soft soil. Plant a Magic Bean, then water it using the Song of Storms or Spring Water. Ride the bean platform up. From here, play the Scarecrow’s Song to summon Pierre on another distant platform. Hookshot over to Pierre to claim the Heart Piece.
Great Bay – Oceanside Spider House Library
Requirements: Hookshot, Captain’s Hat (recommended for clues), Bombs/Blast Mask (optional, for access), access within the First Day
Complete the Oceanside Spider House quest by finding all 30 Gold Skulltulas before midnight on the First Day (this rewards the Giant’s Wallet). Inside the Spider House, navigate to the large library room. Climb the shelves on the side to reach an upper alcove containing a Piece of Heart. Ikana Graveyard – Night 2 Grave (Iron Knuckle)
Requirements: Captain’s Hat, Lens of Truth, Bombs
On the Second Night (12:00 AM – 6:00 AM), go to the Ikana Graveyard. Wear the Captain’s Hat and order the Stalchildren guarding the large central gravestone to open it. Drop down inside. Use the Lens of Truth to see the hidden path. Use Bombs to destroy a cracked wall at the end of the path. Defeat the powerful Iron Knuckle behind the wall to receive a Piece of Heart.
Ikana Graveyard – Night 3 Dampé Digging (3DS Version)
Requirements: Shovel (optional, 3DS), Luck/Guide
On the Final Night (12:00 AM – 6:00 AM), find Dampé the gravekeeper wandering around Ikana Graveyard. Follow him. He will occasionally stop and offer to dig for treasure (costs 10 Rupees). Use the Hookshot on the trees to climb up to the ledge where the “Spirit House” building sits. Pay 30 Rupees to enter (must be Daytime?). Inside, you have 3 minutes to defeat the four Poe Sisters (Amy, Beth, Joelle, Meg). Use arrows or your sword effectively. Win within the time limit to get the Heart Piece.
Ancient Castle of Ikana – Pillar Top
Requirements: Mirror Shield (to enter castle), Deku Mask, Hero’s Bow
After entering Ikana Castle using the Mirror Shield to solve the light puzzle, take the left door from the main chamber. Progress through this section until you reach the exterior rooftop/balconies. Hit a frozen eye switch with a Fire Arrow to activate nearby Deku Flowers. Use the flowers to fly across the pillars. Hit a crystal switch on one pillar with an Arrow to extinguish flames guarding the final Deku Flower. Use that flower to launch to the pillar holding the Piece of Heart.
Ikana Canyon – Secret Shrine Behind Waterfall
Requirements: Light Arrows
Go to the river level of Ikana Canyon and find the waterfall near the entrance to Stone Tower. Fire a Light Arrow at the sun crest above the cave entrance behind the waterfall to open the Secret Shrine. Inside, defeat all the enemies (Wizrobe, Garo Master, etc.) to be rewarded with the Piece of Heart.
The Moon (4 Pieces)
Requirements for all Moon Dungeons: Ocarina, Oath to Order, 4 Temple Remains Masks (Odolwa’s Remains, Goht’s Remains, Gyorg’s Remains, Twinmold’s Remains), respective Transformation Mask for each trial.
After collecting all 20 non-transformation masks, summon the Four Giants using Oath to Order on the Clock Tower roof on the Final Night after 12:00 AM to stop the Moon. Enter the Moon’s tranquil field. Speak to the children wearing the bosses’ remains masks. Give regular masks to them (1 for Deku, 2 for Goron, 3 for Zora, 4 for Link trial) to enter their respective mini-dungeons. Each mini-dungeon contains a Piece of Heart hidden within it, usually near the end.
Moon – Zora Trial Dungeon
