The Oceanside Spider House is a notable mini-dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, situated along the Great Bay Coast near the Fisherman’s Hut. This eerie abode is infested with 30 Gold Skulltulas, and cleansing it within a single day rewards Link with the Giant Wallet, allowing him to carry up to 500 rupees.
Preparation
Before venturing into the Oceanside Spider House, ensure you have the following items:
- Bombs or Blast Mask: To access the inner chambers by destroying cracked walls.
- Hookshot: Essential for reaching distant Skulltulas and tokens.
- Fire Arrows: Useful for burning cobwebs obstructing pathways.
- Captain’s Hat: Allows communication with Stalchildren to solve specific puzzles within the house.
Locating the Oceanside Spider House
From the Great Bay Coast entrance, head toward the shore near the Fisherman’s Hut. The Spider House is identifiable by its foreboding facade nestled against the cliffside.
Oceanside Spider House Map
Here is a map with all Skulltula locations marked. It may be useful to pair alongside the step-by-step guide below.

Navigating the Spider House
Entrance Tunnel:
Two Skulltulas are on the walls of the slanted passage. Use the Hookshot to defeat them and collect the tokens. If you accidentally roll down the ramp, use the Goron Mask to roll back up. (#1 & #2)
Main Room (Stairwell):
After descending the ramp, look up to find a Skulltula behind a web above. Use a Fire Arrow to burn the web, then the Hookshot to defeat it. (#3)
Use the Hookshot to cross the fence by targeting the emblem on the wall, then proceed through the north door. In this room, a Skulltula crawls in the ceiling rafters. Climb onto the crates in the southwest corner for a better angle to hit it with the Hookshot. (#4)
Roll into the group of large jars to the north; one contains a Skulltula. (#5)
Burn the web on the far-left jar with a Fire Arrow, then roll into it to reveal another Skulltula. (#6)
A Skulltula emerges from behind a mask on the wall near the stairs. Wait for it to appear, then use the Hookshot. (#7)
Midway down the stairs, look above the masks on the wall to spot a Skulltula in the space between floors. Use the Hookshot to defeat it. (#8)
At the bottom of the stairs, roll into the jar near the east door to find another Skulltula. (#9)
Behind the staircase, burn the webs on the north wall with a Fire Arrow to reveal a small hole containing a Skulltula. Use the Hookshot to defeat it. (#10)
In the northeast corner, atop a stack of crates, a jar hides a Skulltula. Use the Hookshot to break the jar, then defeat the Skulltula. (#11)
Another Skulltula emerges from behind a mask on the wall behind the stairs. Use the Hookshot when it appears. (#12)
Library (West Door on Ground Floor):
Burn the webs covering the west door with a Fire Arrow to access the library. Wear the Captain’s Hat to speak with the Stalchildren here; they provide hints for a later puzzle. Push the bookshelf against the west wall to reveal an alcove containing two Skulltulas. (#13 & #14)
From the Stalchild’s desk, look across the room to spot a Skulltula atop a bookshelf. Use the Hookshot to defeat it. (#15)
At the north end, knock down a painting in the northwest corner to uncover a Skulltula. (#16)
Climb to the top of the bookshelf where the Stalchild was sitting, then look near the ceiling on the north wall to find a Skulltula. (#17)
Pull out the middle of three small cabinets against the north wall to reveal a hole with a Skulltula. (#18)
Return to the top of the bookshelf, jump to the south side, and Hookshot the Skull Kid painting to reveal another Skulltula. (#19)
Dining Room (East Door in Basement):
Short and worth-while detour from collecting Skulltulas: In the basement, enter the east door to find the dining room with several Stalchildren. Speak to each Stalchild while wearing the Captain’s Hat to receive clues about the order to shoot the colored masks (heart, spade, diamond, club) above the fireplace. The order varies, so note their hints. Shoot the masks in the correct sequence to open a passage in the fireplace leading to a Piece of Heart.
Roll into the jars below the red mask to reveal a Skulltula. Using the Goron Mask’s punch can also expose it. (#20)
Knock down the Skull Kid painting near the red mask to find another Skulltula. (#21)
Climb onto the dining table to spot a Skulltula near the ceiling above the entry door. (#22)
While on the table, perform a Goron Pound to dislodge three Skulltulas from the chandelier. (#23, #24, & #25)
Storage Room (Web-Covered Door Beneath Basement Stairs):
Burn the web covering the door beneath the basement stairs with a Fire Arrow to access the storage room. Defeat the enemies, and use another Fire Arrow to burn away the webbing on the ceiling in the southwest corner. Take out the Skulltula up there for twenty six. (#26)
Turn around to face the north wall and you’ll find another Skulltula. (#27)
Locate the light brown crates against the north wall. Roll into them to break them and expose the hidden Skulltula. (#28)
Navigate to the crates at the south wall and break them to reveal a crawl hole. Crawl to the room at the end and when you reach your feet, turn around to find another Skulltula above the crawlspace. (#29)
Crawl your way back to the storage room and climb the crates to your right. Climb as high as you possible to locate a barrel on an overhead loft near the north wall. Hit the barrel with your Hookshot to zip up to this loft. Once you make it to the loft, put on your Goron Mask and punch the other barrels to get the last Skulltula. (#30!!!)
Reward
After collecting all 30 Gold Skulltula tokens, return to the entrance. A man seeking shelter from the impending moon crash will appear and request ownership of the cleansed house. If all tokens are collected on the First Day, he rewards Link with the Giant Wallet. Completing the task on subsequent days yields varying rupee rewards.
Additional Notes
- In the 3DS version, the Giant Wallet can be obtained regardless of the day, and clearing the house a second time grants a Fishing Hole Pass.
- The house contains mysterious paintings of Skull Kid, adding to its enigmatic atmosphere.
