Welcome to a unique piece of Zelda history! Before the official manga adaptation by Akira Himekawa became widely known, Club Nintendo Germany published its own comic book prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time back in 1998.
This special comic, originally released in German (and later Dutch) within a special edition of the Club Nintendo magazine, offers a fascinating and emotional glimpse into the events before Link’s adventures began. With art credited to Work House Co. Ltd., it tells the story of:
- The devastating war engulfing Hyrule.
- Link’s parents – his father, a valiant Knight of Hyrule, and his mother, desperately seeking safety for her child.
- The perilous journey to Kokiri Forest and the difficult choices made to protect the boy who would become the Hero of Time.
While distinct from other adaptations, this comic provides a compelling and often heartbreaking backstory that adds depth to the opening chapters of Ocarina of Time.
