Diving and Summer
Maku Tree Check-in: Visit the Maku Tree in Horon Village.
(Optional) Trading Sequence Start:
- (Optional) Cuccodex: Go to the house in northeast Horon Village with the chickens outside. Talk to Malon. She wants something to help her learn about chickens. Go back towards the Hero’s Cave area, then head south into the woods. Find the house of the know-it-all bird. Talk to him to get the Cuccodex. Take it back to Malon. She gives you the Lon Lon Egg.
To Sunken City: Head south from Horon Village, past the shop, and keep going south, then east into the Woods of Winter/Natzy. Navigate through this area (it might be Winter by default). If you used the Winter power earlier, the path east might be accessible. If not, find a stump and change the season to Winter. You need to get through the woods to the southeast section which leads to Sunken City.
Sunken City: This city is mostly submerged. Talk to the locals. They mention a Master Diver.
(Optional) Trading Sequence Cont.:
- (Optional) Ghastly Doll: Find Mayor Ruul’s vacation home in Sunken City (usually accessible). Give the Lon Lon Egg to the Mayor inside. He gives you the Ghastly Doll.
- (Optional) Iron Pot: Go back towards Horon Village. Find Maple flying around (she appears randomly after you defeat 30 enemies, or 15 with Maple’s Ring). Bump into her. The Ghastly Doll will trade for the Iron Pot. (If you miss her, defeat more enemies and try again).
Master Diver and Flippers: Find the house of the Master Diver (usually in the northeast part of Sunken City, may require navigating based on the current season). Talk to him. He agrees to help you if you can prove your swimming skill, but you can’t swim well yet! You need the Zora’s Flippers. These are often held by a cheating Tokay in exchange for something else (sometimes a Scent Seedling if you have one, or just purchasing them). Alternatively, in some game states or linked games, they might be found elsewhere or gifted. Find the Flippers! (A common location is finding a secret staircase under a specific tile or accessible via a season change). Once you have the Zora’s Flippers, return to the Master Diver. He recognizes your potential and teaches you advanced diving techniques. You can now dive in deeper water (dark blue tiles).
Summer Power: Dive in the deep water near the center of Sunken City to find a hidden underwater cave/tunnel. This leads to a vortex to Subrosia. Enter Subrosia. Navigate to the Temple of Seasons. Go to the top-right room (Summer) and get the Power of Summer.
Return and Use Summer: Exit Subrosia. Find a tree stump (there’s usually one near Sunken City or required to access Mt. Cucco). Change the season to Summer.
Path to Mt. Cucco: With Summer active, vines will grow on certain cliffs. Head north from Sunken City towards the mountain path. Climb the newly grown vines to reach Mt. Cucco.
(Optional) Trading Sequence Cont.:
- (Optional) Lava Soup: In Subrosia, find the chef in the house near the volcano. Give him the Iron Pot. He gives you the Lava Soup.
Navigating Mt. Cucco: Ascend the mountain. You’ll likely need to use Roc’s Feather to jump gaps and the Power Bracelet to lift stones. Find the cave entrance near the summit, which leads to the next dungeon. You might need the help of Moosh (if he’s your companion) to fly over large gaps, or find alternate paths if using Ricky/Dimitri. There’s usually a high platform accessible via Spring (flower jump) or Summer (vines).
Enter Dungeon 4: Find the entrance to the Dancing Dragon Dungeon, often requiring you to lift a large stone near the summit area.
Dancing Dragon Dungeon
Entrance: Go north. Defeat the Wizzrobes. Go north.
Water & Mine Cart: Dive into the deep water. Swim west underwater. Surface in the next room. Hit the switch. Hop in the mine cart.
Compass Room: After the cart ride, go south. Defeat the enemies. Open the chest for the Compass. Go back north. Go east.
Key & Water Level: Jump across the platforms. Step on the button to lower the water level. Jump down. Open the chest for a Small Key. Go west twice (back to the room after the mine cart).
Map Room: With the water lowered, go north. Open the chest for the Dungeon Map. Go back south. Jump in the mine cart again.
Cart Switch: The cart stops. Hit the switch with your sword to change the track. Hop back in the cart.
Slingshot: The cart takes you to a new room. Go down the stairs. Navigate the side-scrolling area (use feather jumps). Climb the ladder. Open the chest to get the Slingshot (L-1)! It comes with Mystery Seeds. (Mystery Seeds have various effects, sometimes helpful, sometimes not).
Using the Slingshot: Go back down the ladder and through the side-scroller. Go up the stairs. Go west. Use the Slingshot to hit the switch across the gap. A bridge forms. Cross it. Go north.
Locked Door: Use a Small Key on the locked door. Go north.
Miniboss: Agahnim Shadow: This cloaked figure shoots energy balls. Use your Slingshot (or Sword) to hit the real shadow (the one without a flickering shadow beneath it) when it appears after teleporting. Hitting clones hurts you. Defeat it to reveal a warp point. Go north.
Water Level Control: Step on the button to raise the water level. Dive into the deep water and swim north. Surface. Go east.
Key & Flooded Room: Step on the button to lower the water level. Jump down. Push the block to reach the chest with a Small Key. Step on the button again to raise the water. Swim to the east side and use the Small Key on the locked block. Go east.
Boss Key Room: Defeat the Wizzrobes. Use the Slingshot to hit the switch across the water. A bridge appears. Cross it. Open the chest for the Boss Key. Go back west.
Path to Boss: Dive underwater. Swim west, then south. Surface. Go west. Use the Boss Key. Go north.
Boss: Gohma: This multi-legged eyeball fires projectiles. Use the Slingshot to hit its large eye when it opens. After stunning it, run up and slash its eye with your sword. Its claws can also be broken with the sword or Slingshot to make it easier to hit the eye. Repeat the stun-and-slash process.
Reward: Grab the Heart Container. Go north and take the Essence of Nature – Soothing Rain.
