Link’s quest in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass isn’t just about sailing the high seas and exploring mysterious temples – it’s also about facing down a rogue’s gallery of tricky and dangerous foes! From the deepest dungeons to the surface of the Great Sea, creatures great and small will try to stop our hero.

Armos
These animated stone statues look intimidating, and they are! Armos statues often guard important passages or treasures. They typically remain dormant until you approach or disturb them. Once active, they hop towards you relentlessly. Your best bet is usually a well-aimed Bomb to shatter their stony exterior, or sometimes a swift strike to a vulnerable point (often revealed after they jump or attack).

Arrow Trap
A classic dungeon hazard! These wall-mounted traps fire arrows automatically when you cross their line of sight or step on a hidden trigger. Keep your shield ready to block incoming projectiles, or time your movements carefully to dash past when they aren’t firing. Sometimes, you can disable them by hitting a nearby switch.

Beamos
These cyclopean statues scan their surroundings with a rotating magical beam. If their eye spots you, they unleash a powerful energy blast! Stay out of their line of sight or dash through quickly. Often, you can stun or destroy them by firing an arrow directly into their eye when it’s open and vulnerable.

Bee
Don’t underestimate these tiny buzzing insects! Often stirred up by disturbing hives or cutting down certain grasses, Bees attack in swarms. While individually weak, their numbers can quickly overwhelm you. Quick slashes with your sword are usually enough to dispatch them, but be ready to move if a whole swarm comes after you!

Blade Trap
Sharp, deadly, and relentless! These spiked metal traps slide back and forth along predetermined paths, usually in narrow corridors. Trying to fight them is useless. Instead, observe their pattern and time your movements perfectly to slip past unharmed. Some variations might move faster or have more erratic patterns.

Blazing Watch Tower
Found patrolling the Great Sea, these enemy watchtowers are mounted on rafts and equipped with cannons that launch fiery projectiles. Engage them with your ship’s cannon! Aim carefully and blast them before they can riddle your ship with holes or set it ablaze.

Blue ChuChu
This variant of the common ChuChu crackles with electricity! Touching one directly will give you a nasty shock. Avoid using your sword initially. The Boomerang is your best friend here – a quick hit will stun them, allowing you to safely finish them off with your sword. Bombs also work wonders.

Bubble
These flying skulls, often wreathed in fire or ice, drift menacingly through dungeons. Their elemental aura makes them invulnerable to direct sword attacks. Use the Boomerang to douse their flames or shatter their ice, leaving the skull vulnerable to a finishing blow. The Gust Jar can also sometimes be effective at removing their aura.

Cannon Boat
Enemy vessels prowling the Great Sea! These hostile ships are armed with cannons and will fire on sight. Engage them in ship-to-ship combat using your own cannon. Outmaneuver them and land your shots accurately to sink them before they sink you!

Craykling
These smaller spawn of the fearsome boss Crayk inhabit the Temple of Courage. They possess a natural camouflage, making them nearly invisible! You’ll often only see a faint shimmer until they attack. Use ranged weapons like the Boomerang or Arrows to reveal and stun them, then move in for the kill with your sword.

Crow
These pesky birds often perch high up, swooping down to attack when you get close. They aren’t very tough, but their sudden attacks can be startling. A quick sword slash as they approach is usually enough to deal with them. Keep an eye out, as they sometimes carry or drop Rupees!

Eyeball Monster
Typically found mounted on walls, these single-eyed watchers track your movements. When their eye opens, they often fire projectiles. Wait for the eye to open and quickly hit it with your sword, Boomerang, or an Arrow to defeat them.

Eye Plant
These carnivorous plants feature a large, eye-like bulb. They’ll track your movements and often spit projectiles or try to bite if you get too close. Keep your distance and use your sword or ranged weapons to strike the eye when it’s open or facing you.

Eye Slug
Slow-moving, slug-like creatures with a prominent eye. They aren’t much of a threat on their own, but can be annoying in groups or tight spaces. A simple sword strike is usually all it takes to eliminate them.

Fire Keese
Like regular Keese, but engulfed in flames! Touching them will burn you. Use the Boomerang or Gust Jar first to extinguish their fire, making them vulnerable to your sword. Avoid direct attacks until their flames are out.

Floor Spikes
A nasty dungeon trap! These spikes retract into the floor and shoot up suddenly when you walk over them. Pay close attention to the floor for subtle outlines or changes in texture. Move across them quickly just after they retract.

Flying Fish
These fish leap out of the water as you sail nearby, attempting to ram your ship or knock Link overboard if he’s near the edge. A quick swipe with the sword as they arc through the air will take care of them.

Flying Pot
Beware of seemingly ordinary pots! Some are possessed and will suddenly fly towards you when you approach. Smash them with your sword before they can hit you. Sometimes they contain surprises like Rupees or hearts!

Gel
Small, gelatinous blobs that often hop around aimlessly. They’re more of a nuisance than a real threat, sometimes trying to latch onto Link to slow him down. A quick sword slash will dissipate them. They sometimes appear alongside ChuChus.

Geozard
These formidable lizard-like warriors come equipped with shields and weapons (like spears or swords). Their shields make direct attacks difficult. Use the Boomerang to stun them, Bombs to break their guard, or time your sword strikes carefully to hit them when they lower their defense to attack.

Green ChuChu
The most common variety of ChuChu. These green blobs hop towards you and are easily dispatched with a few swipes of your sword. They’re simple enemies, but can be dangerous in large groups.

Gyorg
These aggressive shark-like monsters patrol certain areas of the Great Sea. They swim rapidly and may leap out of the water to attack your ship. Use your ship’s cannon to blast them out of the water. Some smaller versions might appear that can be targeted with the Boomerang.

Hardhat Beetle
These tough beetles are impervious to direct attacks from your sword – hitting them will just knock you back! The trick is to use their own momentum against them. Strike them to send them ricocheting into pits, water, or other hazards. The Boomerang might briefly stun them.

Hinox
These large, one-eyed giants are quite dangerous! They typically attack by throwing bombs or trying to slam the ground. Their single eye is their weak point. Dodge their attacks and strike their eye whenever you get a chance. Arrows are particularly effective. Sometimes you can even trick them into getting hurt by their own bombs!

Ice Bubble
Similar to the Fire Bubble, this flying skull is surrounded by an icy aura that protects it and can freeze you on contact. Use the Boomerang or Gust Jar to shatter the ice, then finish the exposed skull with your sword.

Ice Keese
Bats infused with freezing cold! Touching them will encase you in ice temporarily. Like Fire Keese, use the Boomerang or Gust Jar to neutralize their icy aura before safely attacking with your sword.

Jolene
This swashbuckling pirate isn’t just a character – she’s a recurring foe! You’ll occasionally face Jolene in one-on-one sword duels. She’s agile and skilled, so watch her attack patterns, block or dodge effectively, and strike when you see an opening. Defeating her often yields valuable rewards.

Keese
The classic Zelda bats! These flying nuisances inhabit dark caves and dungeons, often attacking in flocks. They fly erratically, but a single sword strike is usually enough to take one down. Watch out for them swooping down from ceilings.

Like Like
Oh, the horror! These sluggish, tube-shaped monsters are infamous for swallowing adventurers whole… along with their hard-earned shields and sometimes Rupees! Attack them quickly, preferably from behind or with ranged weapons like Bombs or Arrows, before they can latch onto you. If they swallow your shield, defeat them quickly, and you might get it back!

Miniblin
Small, impish creatures armed with pitchforks or small spears. They usually attack in groups, trying to overwhelm you with numbers. They’re fast but weak. Use wide sword slashes to hit multiple Miniblins at once, or use the Boomerang to stun a group before picking them off.

Mini Cyclone
Small tornadoes that drift across certain areas, both on land and at sea. Touching one will send you spinning and potentially cause damage. They can’t usually be destroyed, so your best bet is to carefully navigate around them.

Moldorm
A large, segmented worm-like creature, often encountered as a mini-boss in dungeons. Its weak point is typically the flashing segment at the end of its tail. It moves quickly and erratically, making it tough to hit. Stay mobile, avoid its main body, and strike the tail whenever you get the chance.

Ocean Octorok
These aquatic Octoroks pop up from the surface of the Great Sea to spit rocks at your ship. You can destroy the rocks with a well-timed cannon shot or sometimes even deflect them back with your ship’s hull (if positioned correctly). A direct cannon shot will defeat the Octorok itself.

Octomine
Floating naval mines found bobbing in the Great Sea. They explode violently upon contact with your ship or if struck. Carefully navigate around them or destroy them from a safe distance with your ship’s cannon.

Octorok
The land-based cousins of the Ocean Octoroks. These octopus-like creatures hide in bushes or underground, popping up to spit rocks at Link. Block the rocks with your shield (sometimes deflecting them back to defeat the Octorok) or hit the Octorok with your sword or a ranged weapon when it emerges.

Phantom
The terrifying, invincible guardians of the Temple of the Ocean King! These heavily armored knights patrol the temple’s halls. Direct confrontation is impossible initially – if they spot you or hear you, they’ll relentlessly chase you down. You MUST avoid their line of sight (shown on your map) and tread carefully on noisy ground. Later, you can find safe zones (glowing areas) to hide in, use Phantom Spheres to temporarily stun them by hitting switches, and eventually use the Phantom Sword to defeat them.

Phantom Eye
Floating eyeball sentinels that assist the Phantoms in the Temple of the Ocean King. They float along set paths, scanning the area. If their light beam spots you, they’ll alert the nearest Phantom! Avoid their gaze or stun them temporarily with the Boomerang or an Arrow. Destroying them often requires specific puzzle elements.

Pirate Miniblin
These are Miniblins stationed aboard enemy Cannon Boats or Pirate Ships. You’ll primarily deal with them by destroying the ship they’re on using your own ship’s cannon.

Pirate Ship
Larger, more formidable enemy vessels than the standard Cannon Boats. They may be faster, tougher, or have more cannons. Engage them carefully with your ship’s cannon, dodging their return fire and aiming accurately to sink them.

Poe
These mischievous ghosts haunt certain spooky locations. They often carry lanterns and have the ability to turn invisible, reappearing elsewhere. Attack them with your sword when they become solid. Sometimes they might try to curse you or drain your health.

Pols Voice
These bizarre, rabbit-eared ghost-like creatures are immune to most conventional attacks, including your sword! However, they have a unique weakness: loud noises! In the DS version, you need to shout or blow directly into the Nintendo DS microphone to make them vulnerable or defeat them outright!

Rat
Common rodents found scurrying in dungeons and caves. They’re mostly harmless but can sometimes steal Rupees if they bump into you. A quick sword slash is all that’s needed.

Reapling
Small, hooded figures resembling miniature Grim Reapers. They often appear in haunted areas or the Temple of the Ocean King. When they spot you, they may let out a paralyzing shriek before attacking with their scythes. Try to attack them from behind or use ranged weapons to stun them before they can scream.

Red ChuChu
Another common variant of the ChuChu. Like the Green ChuChu, these red blobs are typically straightforward enemies defeated with simple sword attacks. They might be slightly tougher or faster than their green counterparts.

Rock Chuchu
These ChuChus have coated themselves in a hard, rocky shell, making them immune to sword strikes initially. You’ll need to use a Bomb to blast away their protective layer, revealing the vulnerable ChuChu underneath, which you can then defeat with your sword.

Rope
These snake-like enemies lie in wait, often camouflaged against the ground. When they spot you, they’ll charge in a straight line very quickly. Be ready to sidestep their rush and counterattack with your sword.

Rupee Like
A greedy variation of the Like Like! These creatures look similar but have an insatiable appetite for your hard-earned Rupees. If they latch onto you, they’ll drain your wallet rapidly! Defeat them as quickly as possible, attacking from a distance or their blind spot, to minimize your losses.

Sandworm
Massive worms that burrow beneath the sands, often encountered on desert islands or within specific dungeons. They typically surface to attack, revealing a weak point – usually their head or tail segment. Dodge their attacks (like lunging bites or spitting projectiles) and strike their weak spot when exposed. Bombs can sometimes be effective against them.

Sea Trap
Similar to Octomines, these are stationary hazards floating in the Great Sea. They might look like whirlpools or spiky objects. Contact usually results in damage to your ship. Navigate around them or destroy them from afar with your cannon if possible.

Skulltula
Large, spider-like monsters often found hanging from ceilings in dungeons. They typically lower themselves down on a web strand to attack. Their bony backsides are usually invulnerable. Wait for them to turn around, exposing their softer underside, and strike it with your sword or a ranged weapon.

Slime Minion
Small, often brightly colored slimes. They might be spawned by larger enemies or bosses. Generally weak and easily dispatched with a single sword hit.

Stag Beetle
Large flying beetles that can be quite persistent. They might try to ram you or sometimes carry objects like bombs. Hit them with your sword or a ranged weapon when they fly close. Be careful if they’re carrying explosives!

Stalfos
Classic Zelda skeleton warriors! These undead foes often wield swords and sometimes throw bones. They can be tricky duelists. Block their attacks and counterattack. Bombs can sometimes destroy them instantly or at least shatter them temporarily, giving you a moment to regroup.

Stalfos Warrior
A larger, tougher version of the standard Stalfos. These warriors might wear more armor, wield bigger weapons (like maces), or have more health. They often require more careful tactics. Look for openings after their attacks, use Bombs effectively, or employ the Boomerang to stun them before moving in.

Tektite
One-eyed, spider-like creatures that hop around erratically on their long legs. Their unpredictable movements can make them tricky to hit. Time your sword strikes for when they land, or use ranged weapons like the Boomerang or Arrows to take them out more easily.

Terrorpin
Turtle-like enemies with hard, often spiky shells that protect them from frontal attacks. You’ll need to find a way to flip them onto their backs to expose their vulnerable underside. Bombs placed nearby or specific items like the Grappling Hook (in games where applicable, though bombs/boomerang are key in PH) might do the trick. Once flipped, attack their belly quickly.

Winder
Long, segmented electrical enemies that slither along floors and walls, often in set patterns. Touching them will shock you. They are usually invincible. Sometimes you can stun segments with the Boomerang, allowing safe passage, or you might need to find a way to deactivate them using nearby mechanisms. Avoid them if possible.

Wizzrobe
These notorious magic-users teleport around the room, making them hard to pin down, before unleashing elemental spells (fire, ice, electricity). Anticipate where they might reappear and strike quickly when they materialize before they can cast their spell. Ranged weapons like Arrows can be very effective. Pay attention to their spell type, as some might require specific counters (like using the Boomerang on fiery Wizzrobes).

Yook
Hairy, ape-like creatures that often roll into a ball to attack or defend. Their rolling attack can be hard to dodge in tight spaces. Use the Boomerang to stun them when they’re rolling or standing still, then follow up with sword strikes.

Yellow ChuChu
This ChuChu variant is often associated with electricity, much like the Blue ChuChu. Direct sword attacks are risky. Use the Boomerang to safely stun them first, then finish them off with your sword. Bombs are also a safe and effective option.
