Quest Prerequisites That Activate Plower Wanted
Unfortunately this quest cannot begin immediately. You must first destroy the chandelier in the Lumpy Pumpkin and fully repay your debt—which includes delivering Pumpkin Soup, carrying pumpkins to storage, and successfully performing the Goddess’s Harp duet with Kina during the evening. Only after those chores are complete and the Fire Sanctuary dungeon is finished—even if you have already encountered Guld in an earlier Eldin trip—will she task you with finding someone capable of plowing her patch.
Facing Kina at the Pumpkin Patch During Daylight
Seek Kina at the pumpkin patch just outside the Lumpy Pumpkin tavern during the day. If all prior quests are cleared, she will casually mention that plowing her field is too much labor for one person. At that moment Fi will activate your Dowsing ability and you’ll gain “Find Plow‑Skill Person” as your objective.
The Trail Leads Deep Into the Southern Eldin Volcano
Steer your Loftwing southeast toward Eldin Volcano, aiming to land at the “Volcano East” Bird Statue—then travel slightly south, where wind vents feed into a glowing steam cone. Perform a running jump into the plume to float inside a rocky cavern. As you glide past jagged stone pinnacles to your left, keep an eye out for Guld, the grey-haired Mogma elder perched on a ledge above a former Goddess Cube site.

A Chat with Guld and Scrapper Makes a Mighty Helper
When you reach him, Guld admits that he is tired of digging in scorched cavern dust and would prefer retirement atop Skyloft’s breezy heights. Upon hearing where he might live out his golden years, Fi summons Scrapper who gently lifts the elder Mogma skyward. For his next life of plowing pumpkin soil, he’s ideally suited.
Returning to Kina Yields Fifteen Minutes of Gratitude
After Guld shuffles off with Kina to the sky, return to Pumpkin Landing. Kina is quick to express relief and rewards your efforts with five shiny Gratitude Crystals. This officially completes the Plower Wanted quest and quietly adds to your collection of helpful deeds across Skyloft’s side‑quests.
Common Pitfalls and Helpful Notes
If Kina does not initiate the quest even after the Fire Sanctuary, you may have missed the duet: simply passing the Goddess’s Harp minigame with Kina—even by a narrow margin—will count as completion. As one Reddit player put it:
“Just barely decent is enough to complete it.”
It is recommended to hold the controller sideways, facing your chest, and move straight left‑to‑right without rotating, which helps stabilize your timing.
Although many guides suggest you must defeat The Imprisoned a second time before Kina can speak again, the quest sometimes only appears after saving Eldin during your third visit—even if Song of the Hero is not yet complete. If the dowsing marker doesn’t show up yet, press on through Endin and then revisit Kina between dungeon runs
Why This Side Quest Matters
The Plower Wanted quest is one of the few side‑quests that showcases the relationship between Skyloft and the Mogma people. Guld’s dialogue reflects his longing for a peaceful life and his new chapter as a field helper, a poignant shift from treasure hunting to farming. Completing this quest now prepares you for more expansive Gratitude Crystal quests ahead—and adds another tender story to your Skyward Sword journey.
