Step 1: Collect All 23 Masks
First up, you’ll need to gather all 23 masks scattered throughout Termina. This includes the 20 standard masks and the 3 transformation masks (Deku, Goron, and Zora). Many of these are rewards from side quests, so keep an eye out for opportunities to help the townsfolk and complete mini-games.
Step 2: Conquer All Four Temples
Next, tackle the game’s four main temples: Woodfall, Snowhead, Great Bay, and Stone Tower. Defeating the bosses in these dungeons will earn you their remains, essential for summoning the Four Giants.
Step 3: Enter the Clock Tower on the Final Day
As the Final Day winds down, the Clock Tower in Clock Town will open its doors at midnight. Make sure you’re prepared, then head inside to confront Skull Kid.
Step 4: Play the Oath to Order
Face-to-face with Skull Kid atop the Clock Tower, whip out your ocarina and play the “Oath to Order.” This melody calls upon the Four Giants to halt the moon’s descent, granting you access to its eerie surface.
Step 5: Inside the Moon – Play Hide-and-Seek
On the moon’s surreal landscape, you’ll encounter five children, four donning masks of the temple bosses. Engage each of these children in conversation, and they’ll invite you to play hide-and-seek. To participate, you’ll need to trade them your non-transformation masks. Each game leads you through a unique mini-dungeon, testing your skills and knowledge.
Step 6: Claim the Fierce Deity Mask
After completing the games with the four children, approach the lone child wearing Majora’s Mask. With no more masks to offer, he’ll reward your dedication by gifting you the Fierce Deity Mask, remarking, “Let’s play good guys against bad guys.” This powerful mask allows Link to transform into Fierce Deity Link during boss battles, making those encounters significantly more manageable.
