Crenel Hills Cave

Crenel Hills Cave is a large misty cavern with a Luminous Stone Talus, a Bubbulfrog and a piece of Misko’s Barbarian Armor. Break the Luminous Stone deposit in the northeast part of the cave to open the armor alcove, and shoot the Bubbulfrog off the ceiling in the main cavern.

How to find the entrance

From Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, head northeast and cross the Hylia River into the Crenel Hills, east of Hyrule Castle. The slopes are scattered with black boulders and blue-glowing Luminous Stone deposits, which you can smash for Luminous Stone. The cave is a dark opening in the hillside among them, and a Green Rupee lies by the mouth.

Route through the cave

The tunnel opens into a misty cavern hung with long stalactites. Grab Brightbloom Seeds and Brightcaps on the way, since the lower parts are dark. The floor ends at a wide pit full of mist: open your paraglider and glide down, landing on one of the rock knobs that rise out of the fog.

Stone Talus

A Luminous Stone Talus sleeps in the middle of the pit and wakes as you approach. Its weak point is the Luminous Stone deposit on its back (marked with an arrow once it rises). Shoot Bomb Flower arrows at it from a knob, then hit the deposit with a heavy weapon when it is stunned. It drops Amber, Opal, Flint, Luminous Stone and a Luminous Stone Talus Heart, which makes a hard-hitting fused weapon. You can also skip it and sneak past.

Barbarian Armor chest

In the northeast part of the cave, break the large Luminous Stone deposit in the wall to open a small chamber. Inside is a stone alcove hung with red and gold banners, with a chest between its pillars. Open it for the Barbarian Armor, a body armor with Attack Up. It is one of Misko’s treasures.

Bubbulfrog and Bubbul Gem

Go back toward the pit and glide down into the lowest part of the cavern, where a cluster of Luminous Stone fills the floor beneath the stalactites. The Bubbulfrog hops on the ceiling above it. Shoot it with arrows (a Bomb Flower arrow works well), then finish it as it falls among the ore. Pick up the Bubbul Gem and take it to Koltin for The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!

Exit

Follow the wide passage from the lower chamber toward the pale light. It climbs gently to an open cave mouth onto the grassland, so you do not need Ascend.

Tips

  • Mine the ore along the walls for extra Luminous Stone, Amber and Opal; a Diamond can also be found on the grassy cave floor.
  • A Traveler’s Spear (or Soldier’s Spear, Knight’s Halberd or Royal Halberd, depending on your progress) lies on the floor past the Talus pit.
