A Link Between Worlds Heart Piece Locations

Cucco Rush Rooster Reward

Region: Kakariko Village
Location: Cucco Ranch
Requirements: Rupees

This Piece of Heart is the reward for clearing the Cucco Rush mini-game on Rooster difficulty.

Visit the Cucco Ranch south of Kakariko Village and speak to the mini-game host. You will need to complete the easier levels first before Rooster difficulty becomes available. Once you survive the Rooster challenge, you will receive the Piece of Heart.

Tip: Stay near the center of the field so you have more room to dodge incoming Cuccos from every direction.

Behind the Blacksmith’s Forge

Region: Hyrule Castle
Location: Behind the Blacksmith’s Forge
Requirements: Merge ability

After gaining the ability to merge into walls, return to the Blacksmith’s House.

Merge onto the side of the building and move around to the back. Once you reach the rear side of the house, exit the wall and walk north to find the Piece of Heart behind the Blacksmith’s Forge.

Waterfall Cave South of Zora’s Domain

Region: Sanctuary & Zora’s Domain
Location: Hidden cave behind the waterfall south of Zora’s Domain
Requirements: Zora’s Flippers

Travel to Zora’s Domain, then head south from the area where you met Queen Oren. Jump down the waterfall and continue to the next screen.

Look closely at the second waterfall. There is a hidden cave entrance behind the falling water. Swim into the cave to find the Piece of Heart inside.

Graveyard Secret Passage Ledge

Region: Sanctuary & Zora’s Domain
Location: Graveyard secret passage to the Sanctuary
Requirements: Merge ability

Return to the secret passage beneath the Graveyard that leads toward the Sanctuary. This is the underground route used near the beginning of the game.

In the second room, look for the Piece of Heart on a high ledge in the northeast corner. Climb to the upper walkway, merge into the wall, and follow the wall around until you can reach the ledge.

Lost Woods Narrow Wall Gap

Region: Lost Woods
Location: Hidden gap south of a log
Requirements: Merge ability

Enter the Lost Woods from the northeast, near Rosso’s house. Head southwest until you see a broken log.

Just south of the log is a very narrow gap between the walls. Merge into the wall and move through the thin opening to reach the Piece of Heart.

Kakariko Village Well Cave

Region: Kakariko Village
Location: Northwest cave near the well
Requirements: None, though Power Glove makes it easier

Go to the northwest corner of Kakariko Village. You will see a small cave with a well nearby.

The intended route is to lift the small rocks above the cave, then jump down into the nearby hole. From there, enter the cave and climb up to the Piece of Heart.

If you do not have the Power Glove yet, grab a nearby Cucco, jump from the ledge beside the cave, and float over to the cave entrance.

East Side of Hyrule Castle

Region: Hyrule Castle
Location: East side of Hyrule Castle
Requirements: Power Glove

Head to the east side of Hyrule Castle. The Piece of Heart is sitting on the ground, surrounded by small rocks.

Use the Power Glove to lift the rocks out of the way, then walk in and collect it.

Hyrule Rupee Rush High Score

Region: Kakariko Village
Location: Hyrule Rupee Rush
Requirements: Rupees, Ravio’s item rental shop unlocked

Play the Rupee Rush mini-game south of Kakariko Village. To win the Piece of Heart, you need to finish with a high enough Rupee total.

Collect at least 100 Rupees before time runs out. The game does not show the timer, so you need to judge the ending carefully.

Finishing with less than 3 seconds remaining gives you a 2x multiplier. Finishing with less than 1 second remaining gives you a 3x multiplier.

Southern Ruins Hidden Cave

Region: Southern Ruins
Location: Hidden cave near the statues east of Lake Hylia
Requirements: Bombs

This Piece of Heart is visible in the Southern Ruins, but it appears to be blocked off by statues and terrain.

Head east toward Lake Hylia and look for two large stone statues or pillars near a wall. Place a Bomb between them to open a hidden passage.

Enter the cave, follow the path through, and exit near the Piece of Heart.

Hyrule Hotfoot Race Reward

Region: Lake Hylia and Lost Woods
Location: Hyrule Hotfoot
Requirements: Pegasus Boots, Rupees

Find the Racing Bro on a raised ledge northeast of Lake Hylia. He challenges Link to the Hyrule Hotfoot mini-game.

The first race gives you 75 seconds to reach the goal near Rosso’s house. Complete it to unlock the harder version.

The second race gives you only 65 seconds. Use the Pegasus Boots to dash across Hyrule and reach the finish line in time. Your reward for clearing the second race is a Piece of Heart.

Shortcut: You can make this much easier by using Lorule travel. Start the race, enter Lorule through a nearby fissure, fast-travel closer to Skull Woods, then return to Hyrule near Rosso’s house.

Eastern Palace Bomb Cave

Region: Eastern Ruins
Location: Cave south of the Eastern Palace
Requirements: Bombs, Merge ability

Go to the area just south of the Eastern Palace. Look for a cracked wall on a raised ledge.

Bomb the cracked wall to open the cave. Inside, merge along the wall to reach the Piece of Heart.

If you have the Power Glove, reaching the area is easier, but the important requirements are Bombs and the Merge ability.

Eastern Palace Peg Circle

Region: Eastern Ruins
Location: Tektite-filled basin south of the Eastern Palace
Requirements: Hammer

From the Eastern Palace, go one screen south. In the southeast corner of the area, you will find a Piece of Heart surrounded by wooden pegs.

Use the Hammer to pound the pegs into the ground, then walk in and collect the Piece of Heart.

Death Mountain Secret Passage

Region: Death Mountain (Hyrule)
Location: Secret passage west of the Tower of Hera
Requirements: Merge ability

From the area outside the Tower of Hera, head southwest. You will see what looks like a cave entrance on a lower ledge, but there is no normal path down to it.

Merge into the mountain wall above the lower ledge. Move until Link is positioned directly above the cave-like opening, then exit the wall and drop down.

Walk through the false-looking cave entrance to reach the hidden Piece of Heart.

Rosso’s Ore Mine Platform Challenge

Region: Death Mountain (Hyrule)
Location: Volcano route to Rosso’s Ore Mine
Requirements: Power Glove, Hookshot, Hammer, Merge ability

From the Tower of Hera area, head east until you find the cave route leading toward Rosso’s Ore Mine.

Inside the volcano, drop through the moving platform section until you reach a larger central platform with enemies. Merge along the western wall and land on the moving platform.

Continue through the platforming route. Use the Hammer to pound springboards and carefully time your jumps across the moving platforms. Eventually, you will reach a high platform with the Piece of Heart.

Young Woman’s Locked House

Region: Kakariko Village
Location: Locked house in Kakariko Village
Requirements: Access to Lorule, Merge ability

There is a locked house in Kakariko Village that Link cannot enter from Hyrule.

After reaching Lorule, go to Thieves’ Town and find the matching location where that house would be. Instead of a normal house, you will find a fissure.

Enter the fissure to return to Hyrule. Link will appear inside the locked house in Kakariko Village. Speak to the Young Woman inside, and she will give Link a Piece of Heart.

Fortune’s Choice Chest Prize

Region: Thieves’ Town & Lorule Castle
Location: Fortune’s Choice in Thieves’ Town
Requirements: Rupees

Go to the Fortune’s Choice treasure chest game in eastern Thieves’ Town.

Pay 200 Rupees to play. You can open three treasure chests per attempt, and one of the possible prizes is a Piece of Heart.

Because the reward is random, you may need to play multiple times before finding it.

Lorule Rupee Rush High Score

Region: Thieves’ Town & Lorule Castle
Location: Lorule Rupee Rush
Requirements: Rupees

Play the Lorule version of Rupee Rush south of Thieves’ Town.

To win the Piece of Heart, collect at least 150 Rupees. As with the Hyrule version, your final score can be multiplied if you finish with only a few seconds remaining.

Try to stop with less than 3 seconds left for a 2x multiplier, or less than 1 second left for a 3x multiplier.

Octoball Derby 100-Point Reward

Region: Thieves’ Town & Lorule Castle
Location: Octoball Derby
Requirements: Rupees

Visit the Octoball Derby mini-game southeast of Thieves’ Town.

Score at least 100 points to earn the Piece of Heart. Hit pots, enemies, and bonus targets to build your score.

Tip: Try to hit pots in a row for better scoring opportunities. Watch for the crow flying across the field, since hitting it can help boost your total.

Big Bomb Flower Cave

Region: Thieves’ Town & Lorule Castle
Location: Big Bomb Flower cave east of the Southern Ruins
Requirements: Big Bomb Flower

Go to the Bomb Flower shop in Lorule and take the Big Bomb Flower with you.

Carefully escort it east of the Southern Ruins, near the Swamp Palace area, until you reach a giant cracked boulder. Detonate the Big Bomb Flower to destroy the boulder.

Enter the cave that opens to find the Piece of Heart, along with a large Rupee reward.

Lorule Sahasrahla House Ledge

Region: Skull Woods
Location: House near Sahasrahla’s Lorule counterpart area
Requirements: Merge ability

Go to the house directly south of Skull Woods in Lorule. This house corresponds to Sahasrahla’s house in Hyrule.

Merge onto the side of the house and move around toward the back or south side. Exit when you reach the hidden ledge to collect the Piece of Heart.

Abandoned Shack Roof

Region: Skull Woods
Location: Abandoned shack roof in Lorule Field
Requirements: Cucco

In Lorule Field, east of Skull Woods and west of Death Mountain, look for a ruined building with a Piece of Heart on its roof.

Travel to the south and climb the nearby ladder to reach the higher ledge. Pick up the Cucco and carry it north along the ledge.

Jump off while holding the Cucco and glide toward the roof. Aim directly for the Piece of Heart, since the slanted roof can cause Link to slide off if you land too far away.

Graveyard High Cave

Region: Sanctuary & Zora’s Domain
Location: High cave north of the Graveyard
Requirements: Bombs, Merge ability, fissure travel

Enter Lorule through the fissure inside the Sanctuary. From there, go north toward the Lorule Graveyard.

Look for a cracked wall on a higher ledge north of the Graveyard. Use a Bomb to open the hidden fissure.

Enter the fissure to return to Hyrule, then go into the nearby high cave to collect the Piece of Heart.

Dark Palace Maze Beam

Region: Dark Ruins
Location: Maze outside the Dark Palace
Requirements: Merge ability

While moving through the Dark Ruins maze outside the Dark Palace, look for a Piece of Heart on a narrow raised beam or ledge.

You can collect it while the Lorule Soldiers are still patrolling the area, but you will need to avoid being seen as you move through the maze.

This Piece of Heart becomes easier after completing the Dark Palace, since the guards disappear.

Treacherous Tower Intermediate Reward

Region: Death Mountain (Lorule)
Location: Treacherous Tower
Requirements: Rupees, combat readiness

Treacherous Tower is located on Lorule’s Death Mountain, in the area corresponding to the Tower of Hera.

Clear the Beginner course first to unlock the Intermediate course. Complete the Intermediate course, which has 15 floors, to earn the Piece of Heart.

Bring fairies, potions, upgraded gear, or extra hearts if you are having trouble surviving the challenge.

Ice Ruins Cavern Fissure Cliff

Region: Death Mountain (Hyrule)
Location: Standalone cliff near the stone fissure pillar
Requirements: Tornado Rod, Merge ability, access to Lorule Death Mountain

This Piece of Heart is visible on an isolated spire in Hyrule’s Death Mountain area, but it must be reached through Lorule.

Travel toward Rosso’s Ore Mine, then enter Lorule through the mountain fissure. In Lorule, take the cave route toward the Ice Ruins.

During the icy cavern route, take the western path instead of continuing directly toward the Ice Ruins. Use the Tornado Rod to cross the moving platform section and continue through the cave.

When you exit the cavern, use the nearby stone fissure pillar to return to Hyrule. Link will appear on the isolated cliff beside the Piece of Heart.

Desert Fissure Near Misery Mire

Region: Misery Mire
Location: Desert fissure between Hyrule and Lorule
Requirements: Sand Rod, Bombs, Merge ability

In Hyrule, travel to the northern part of the desert. Climb the staircase that leads to the higher sand area.

Use the Sand Rod to create a path eastward across the sand. From the ledge, use a Bomb to break open the cracked wall or boulder hiding the fissure.

Once the fissure is exposed, merge into the wall and travel through it. Link will emerge in Lorule near the Piece of Heart.

Blacksmith Cave Beneath the Large Rock

Region: Hyrule Castle
Location: Cave near the Blacksmith’s House
Requirements: Titan’s Mitt

Return to the Blacksmith’s House in Hyrule.

Look for the large rock blocking a cave entrance near the house. Use the Titan’s Mitt to lift the rock, then enter the cave.

The Piece of Heart is waiting inside.

Turtle Rock Dungeon Exit

Region: Lorule Lake
Location: Turtle Rock dungeon exit
Requirements: Ice Rod, access to Turtle Rock

This Piece of Heart can only be obtained while exploring Turtle Rock.

Inside Turtle Rock, reach the first floor’s large central chamber. Go through the northwest or southwest route leading toward the dungeon’s outside exit path.

Use the Ice Rod to create platforms across the lava and follow the route until you exit the dungeon. Outside, Link will appear near the Piece of Heart.
