Gralens of the monster-control crew reports a huge silhouette in the Depths. It is a Frox, marked on your map near the Stakijat Lightroot in the Depths: defeat it, then report back to Gralens in the Emergency Shelter at Lookout Landing to be paid.

Walkthrough

Ask Gralens about unusual monsters

Speak to Gralens in the Emergency Shelter at Lookout Landing, choose the unusual monsters topic, then pick “The huge silhouette” to hear about the creature.

Defeat the Frox in the Depths

Drop into the Depths from the Hyrule Field chasm, or light the Stakijat Lightroot and travel there, and find the Frox. Gloom makes it harder. Drain its health and hit its single eye to stun it so it lies down, then run onto its back and break the ore deposits; when the stun ends it flings you into the air, so glide to avoid its mouth. Watch for its slam up close, a lunge at range and a strong inhale. Repeat until it falls. If you have already beaten it, Gralens pays you straight away.

Report back to Gralens

Return to Gralens and talk to him again. He pays a Silver Rupee (100 rupees), and once you have also reported the sky giant and the three-headed monster he adds a thank-you bonus. In play this bonus has appeared as a Diamond; Zelda Dungeon and Zelda Wiki list it as a Gold Rupee (300 rupees).

Rewards

  • Silver Rupee
  • Bonus for completing all three Unknown monster reports: a Diamond in play, listed as a Gold Rupee (300 rupees) by Zelda Dungeon and Zelda Wiki

Tips

  • Bring Bomb Flowers and Brightbloom Seeds; the Depths are dark and the Frox is easiest to damage while it is stunned.
