Camera Work in the Depths is your first trip into the Depths. Drop into Hyrule Field Chasm, light the Nisoij Lightroot, follow Robbie’s trail west to the Iayusus Lightroot, photograph the statue with its arm raised, and show the photo to Josha at Lookout Landing for Zonaite x5.

How to start Camera Work in the Depths

Go to Josha’s lab at the foot of the lookout building stairs and talk to Josha and Robbie. Agree to join Robbie’s expedition: Josha gives you Brightbloom Seed x10 and Arrow x5, and the quest begins.

Camera Work in the Depths walkthrough

Jump into Hyrule Field Chasm

The chasm is the large pit just south of Lookout Landing, beside Jiosin Shrine, ringed with red gloom. A Zonai Survey Team member waits at its rim. Jump in, hold Accelerate to fall fast, and press Glide near the bottom to open your Paraglider.

Meet Ponnick and light the Nisoij Lightroot

You land at the Zonai Survey Team camp beside a campfire and a balloon. Ponnick tells you Robbie went ahead. Walk to the giant glowing root nearby, the Nisoij Lightroot, and step into it to light the area and save a travel point.

Follow Robbie’s trail west

Follow the quest marker to the small camp where a note on the table says Robbie has gone to a glowing root to the west. The Depths are pitch black: throw Brightbloom Seeds on the ground or attach one to an arrow and fire it ahead. Keep out of the red gloom pools, which hurt you and cut your maximum hearts, and use Deep Fireflies and campfires as waypoints.

Light the Iayusus Lightroot

Robbie is by a campfire below a cliff next to the Iayusus Lightroot. Step into the root to light it, then talk to Robbie: he unlocks the Camera on your Purah Pad.

Photograph the statue

Face the cliff above you and find the statue with its arm raised. Open the ability wheel, choose Camera and frame the statue until the label “Statue with raised arm” appears, then take the picture and choose OK to save it.

Show Josha

Use the Lightroot’s travel menu to warp to Lookout Landing (the Skyview Tower travel point also works), go to Josha’s lab and talk to her. She gives you Zonaite x5, and the quest completes.

Rewards

You get Brightbloom Seed x10 and Arrow x5 at the start, the Camera for the Purah Pad, and Zonaite x5 at the end. Talk to Robbie afterward to set up A Mystery in the Depths.

Tips

Lightroots are your way out: open the map in the Depths and warp to a Skyview Tower or shrine on the Surface.
Pick up Brightbloom Seeds on the Surface before you go; they are your main light until more Lightroots are lit.
The Camera only appears after Robbie unlocks it at the Iayusus Lightroot, so do not expect it earlier in the quest.
