The Stone Talus is the plainest of the rock giants: slow, tough everywhere except its back, and worth farming for gems. Knock it down, climb up, and hammer the ore until it collapses.
Where to find it
- Great Plateau: in the clearing east of Hopper Pond, between that pond and the Forest of Spirits, north of the starting shrine.
- Deya Lake: on the island in the middle of the lake, southeast of Bosh Kala Shrine.
- West Nabi Lake: on the small peninsula between Central Hyrule and the Dueling Peaks region.
- Dueling Peaks: one on the north-west side and one on the plateau south of Shee Vaneer Shrine.
- North Mable Ridge: between Dueling Peaks Tower and Kakariko Village, west of Lake Siela.
- Martha’s Landing: south-west of Lakeside Stable and Shai Utoh Shrine in Faron.
- Cliffs of Quince: north-west of Hateno Tower, east of Dueling Peaks Stable.
- Ovli Plain: north-east of Hateno Tower, south of Nirvata Lake.
- Gama Cove: east of Lurelin Village, south-west of Kah Yah Shrine.
- Lake Floria: east of Faron Tower, north of Floria Bridge.
- Tabantha Hills: north of Dunba Taag Shrine, below Hebra Tower.
How to beat it
Approach and knock it down
A Talus looks like a rock pile until you get close. Stay out of its range, then blow off an arm with a Remote Bomb, which drops it to the ground. An arrow into the ore also stuns it for a couple of seconds.

Climb to the ore
Climb onto it and find the ore deposit. Where the ore sits varies from one Talus to the next, and if it juts out from the side you can sometimes strike it from the ground.

Hit the weak point
Use a heavy rock-breaking weapon such as a hammer or boulder breaker for the most damage. When the ore breaks, the Talus collapses and leaves gems behind.

Tips
- Its HP is only 300, so a few good hits with a heavy weapon end the fight.
- Its arms are its only attack; sprint sideways when it throws them rather than trying to parry, since the debris still hurts.
- While it regrows its arms you have a short window to climb on.
Drops
- Flint, Amber, Opal and Ruby, scattered when it collapses.
