The Armor of the Wind is a three-piece amiibo costume, styled on the cel-shaded Link of The Wind Waker. You cannot buy it or find it in the world: the pieces come out of chests created by scanning the matching amiibo. Each piece upgrades to 20 defence with Opals and one Star Fragment per star, and wearing all three at two stars or more strengthens the Master Sword’s beam.

How to get the Armor of the Wind

Scan the Toon Link amiibo with the Amiibo rune on the Sheikah Slate. Each scan makes a chest appear with a random item inside, so the set is not guaranteed on any single scan; keep scanning on later days until all three pieces have dropped. Once you own a piece, it stays in your inventory.

Upgrades

LevelDefence per pieceMaterials per piece
Base3None
★53 Opals, 1 Star Fragment
★★85 Opals, 1 Star Fragment
★★★1210 Opals, 1 Star Fragment
★★★★2020 Opals, 1 Star Fragment

Every star needs exactly one Star Fragment on top of the Opals, so taking one piece to four stars uses 4 Star Fragments and 38 Opals. The whole set needs 12 Star Fragments and 114 Opals.

Great Fairy upgrade costs

Upgrading is done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, for each piece separately. Awakening the four Great Fairies costs 100, 500, 1,000 and 10,000 Rupees in the order you wake them, and each one raises the highest star level you can buy by one. Once a Fairy is awake, any of them can upgrade up to the star level you have unlocked.

Set bonus

With the cap, tunic and trousers all equipped, and each piece upgraded at least twice, the Master Sword gains Master Sword Beam Up. The beam you fire when your hearts are full travels further than normal. It only matters when you are wielding the Master Sword at full health.
