There are 100 Kinstone fusions in The Minish Cap. To fuse, you talk to someone holding the other half of your Kinstone, and the pair opens a chest, a cave, a tree or a platform somewhere in Hyrule. This page explains how fusing works, then gives a compact index that sends each number to the page for its region, with the partner, piece, story timing and reward for every fusion.

How Kinstone fusion works

How Kinstone fusion works

You earn the Kinstone Bag after finishing Deepwood Shrine: the Hurdy-Gurdy Man in the Hyrule Town plaza gives it to you with your first piece, a blue S-curve (see the Mount Crenel walkthrough). Each Kinstone is a medallion split into two halves, and a fusion needs a piece whose notches match the partner’s piece, so you only get the fuse option if you hold the right shape and colour. A speech bubble over a character’s head means they carry the matching half; the symbol in the bubble hints at the reward (a heart for a Piece of Heart, a rupee for money, a question mark for anything else).

Green pieces come from cutting grass and bushes. Red and blue pieces come from chests, shops and digging with the Mole Mitts. A used Kinstone is gone, but the shapes repeat, so you gather more as you go. Fusion partners are Hylians, Minish, animals, Mysterious Walls, Mysterious Statues and even clouds. A fusion usually shows its reward as a chest, a cave, a tree, a waterfall or a platform in another area, so look for the change in the overworld afterwards.

Piece shapes and colours

Each fusion lists an exact piece by colour and shape: blue S-curve, blue squarish, red long teeth, red jagged teeth, red triangle wedge, green slant, green square tooth, green triangle wedge, and the gold pieces for the nine story fusions. There are 8 basic pairs of pieces (3 green, 2 blue, 3 red) plus gold, so the same shape is used again and again.

Index: all 100 fusions by region

Fusion numbers follow the order the game makes the fusions available. Each region page below has one row for every fusion with its partner, where to find them, when it unlocks, the piece, what it opens and the reward.

Missable and timed fusions

The 22 early fusions use random townspeople before Vaati takes the throne; if you skip them, the partner may not be where you expect later. Some partners leave: the library closes after the Four Sword is revived, so fuse with Librari (066) before then, though he can still be met at Lake Hylia. Fusions 099 and 100 only unlock after the Four Sword, and 100 gives the sixth Heart Container. Complete every fusion and Tingle in South Hyrule Field gives you the Tingle Trophy.
