This page is a text map of Hyrule. It lists every region with what is there and what it connects to, a route table that tells you how to walk from one area to another, the warp song destinations, and the dungeon entrances with the age that opens each. Hyrule Field is the centre of the world, and every region is one or two exits away from it. The pause screen map shows the same layout and marks your position.

How to get from one area to another
| From | To | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Kokiri Forest | Hyrule Field | Cross the bridge exit out of the forest. The Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield are only needed to pass Mido to the Deku Tree. |
| Kokiri Forest | Sacred Forest Meadow | Through the Lost Woods. Follow the sound of Saria’s Song at each fork. |
| Hyrule Field | Hyrule Castle Town | Walk to the drawbridge. It is raised at night for a child. |
| Hyrule Castle Town | Temple of Time | Walk through the town square to the temple doors. |
| Hyrule Castle Town | Hyrule Castle courtyard | Go through the castle path past the guards. The moat crossing needs Talon’s crates. |
| Hyrule Field | Kakariko Village | Take the Kakariko road and go through the village gate. |
| Kakariko Village | Death Mountain Trail | The guard at the gate lets a child pass if he sees Zelda’s Letter. Adults walk through. |
| Death Mountain Trail | Goron City | Climb the trail and enter the cave at the top of the path. |
| Death Mountain Trail | Death Mountain Crater | Reach the summit by the owl and go through the entrance behind him. Wear a Goron Tunic as an adult. |
| Goron City | Lost Woods | Bomb the boulders in the alcove on the lower floor to open the shortcut. |
| Hyrule Field | Zora’s River | Take the river road. Walk the river to the waterfall. |
| Zora’s River | Zora’s Domain | Play Zelda’s Lullaby at the Triforce emblem by the waterfall. |
| Zora’s Domain | Zora’s Fountain | Go through King Zora’s throne room. As a child, King Zora must see Ruto’s Letter. As an adult, melt the red ice with Blue Fire. |
| Hyrule Field | Lake Hylia | Take the lake road. A swimming passage also links the lake to Zora’s Domain. |
| Hyrule Field | Gerudo Valley | Take the Gerudo road to the valley and cross the bridge. |
| Gerudo Valley | Gerudo’s Fortress | Adult Link crosses the broken bridge with Epona, or uses the Hookshot on the far side. |
| Gerudo’s Fortress | Haunted Wasteland | Show the Gerudo Card at the gate and cross the quicksand with the Lens of Truth. |
| Haunted Wasteland | Desert Colossus | Follow the Poe’s lantern across the quicksand with the Lens of Truth active. |
| Kakariko Village | Graveyard | Take the path through the gate at the village edge. |
Warp songs skip most of these routes after you learn them, but you must visit a place once on foot before the warp is any use. The Lost Woods shortcuts to Goron City and Zora’s River are a handy alternative to the field when you are running in both directions.

Warp songs and their destinations
| Song | Warps you to | Where Sheik teaches it |
|---|---|---|
| Minuet of Forest | Sacred Forest Meadow | Sacred Forest Meadow |
| Bolero of Fire | Death Mountain Crater | Death Mountain Crater |
| Serenade of Water | Lake Hylia, by the Laboratory | End of the Ice Cavern |
| Nocturne of Shadow | Kakariko Graveyard | Kakariko Village |
| Requiem of Spirit | Desert Colossus | Desert Colossus |
| Prelude of Light | Temple of Time | Temple of Time |
Sheik teaches the songs to adult Link, and you can then play them almost anywhere outdoors, but not inside a dungeon. Each song drops you near the entrance of its area, so the matching temple is a short walk away. Song notes are on Ocarina Songs.
