The Treacherous Tower is a three-course arena on Lorule’s Death Mountain where you pay the Devilish Girl to fight wave after wave of enemies, one floor at a time. The Beginner course has 5 floors, the Intermediate course has 15 and the Advanced course has 50. Clear a course and the crowd showers you with Rupees, and the Intermediate and Advanced courses also hand out a Piece of Heart, the Super Lamp and the Super Net.

Location and Rules

Finding the Tower

The tower stands in the snow of Death Mountain in Lorule, on roughly the same spot where the Tower of Hera rises in Hyrule. You need to have crossed into Lorule first (see the Lorule and Dungeon Order walkthrough) and made your way up the mountain. The Devilish Girl runs the games and takes your fee before each run.

How a Run Works

Each floor is a round arena ringed by a bottomless pit, with a cheering crowd of monsters beyond it. Defeat every enemy and you can walk on to the next floor. The pit is no shortcut: stepping off it costs you hearts, and enemies hit just as hard as they do elsewhere, so unlike most mini-games you can actually lose your life here. The crowd’s Rupees rain down after the final floor, and your clear time is recorded. Beat your own best time on a course and the Devilish Girl adds bonus Rupees on top.

The Three Courses

Beginner Course

Pay 100 Rupees for five floors, each one a single group of the same enemy. The finale is a yellow Moldorm, and the crowd pays you 300 Rupees when you win, a net gain of 200. Winning also unlocks the Intermediate course. There is no special prize here, so treat it as a warm-up and a safe way to learn how the arenas behave.

FloorEnemies
18 Mini-Moldorms
210 Sand Crabs
38 Octoroks
44 Stalfos and 4 Red Stalfos
51 Moldorm (yellow)

Intermediate Course

Intermediate costs 200 Rupees and runs 15 floors, paying 1,000 Rupees at the end. The first time you clear it, the Devilish Girl also gives you a Piece of Heart. Floors 6 to 10 have pits in their corners, and floors 11 to 15 are covered in ice, so footing gets worse as you climb. Clearing it opens the Advanced course.

Advanced Course

Advanced costs 300 Rupees, has 50 floors and pays 5,000 Rupees for a full clear, a net gain of 4,700. The Devilish Girl jokes that nobody has ever come back alive from it, and the later floors make that believable. Some floors are waves (a small group followed by a larger one), and five checkpoint floors, 10, 20, 30, 35 and 40, offer hearts or a fairy instead of a big fight. Floors 11 to 20 are icy, floors 21 to 29 have pits in their corners, floors 31 to 40 are icy and edged with pits, and floors 32, 34, 37 and 39 are dark, so you need the Lamp to see the enemies there.

Prizes

Piece of Heart

Piece of Heart

Clear the Intermediate course for the first time and the Devilish Girl gives you a Piece of Heart on the spot, on top of the 1,000 Rupees. It counts towards the full list in Heart Piece Locations. You only get it once, so there is no need to repeat the course for it.

Link receives a Piece of Heart after clearing the Intermediate course for the first time
Super Lamp

Super Lamp

The first time you beat all 50 floors of the Advanced course, the Devilish Girl upgrades your Lamp into the Super Lamp. Its flame does eight times the damage of the ordinary Lamp, so it finally becomes a real weapon against enemies instead of just a light source and a way to burn things.

Super Net

Super Net

Clear the Advanced course a second time, with your Net in your inventory, and she upgrades it into the Super Net, which also hits for eight times its normal damage. The second clear pays the 5,000 Rupees again, so it refills your wallet as well.

Tips for Surviving

Enter at full health with a fairy or two in your Bottles (see Bottle Locations) and a few Blue Potions, because the Advanced course gives you only a handful of hearts at its checkpoints. Rent or buy the Fire Rod, Ice Rod and Tornado Rod from Ravio’s Shop: the Tornado Rod leaves enemies caught in its whirlwind dizzy, the Fire Rod and the Lamp melt ice and ice-based enemies, and the Ice Rod is a good answer to the Fire Gimos on floor 47. Knock Lynels into the pit on floors 29 and 49 or let their flames hurt each other, and on the final floor stay away from the Moldorm’s head and keep hitting its tail.
