Heart Piece Locations

Take the Shovel from the workers at the Black Tower site, then walk back to the courtyard in front of the tower. A heart floats behind a ridge of rubble. Use the Shovel to dig through the stones and walk up to take the piece. This is the first one you can collect, and it starts your count of four.

Enter the Maku Path through the loose soil at the north entrance of Lynna Village, the way to the young Maku Tree. In the room at the top-left of the map, a heart sits behind four grey blocks. Push the bottom-left block up one space. Then push the block that was originally in the bottom-right corner left one space, and walk up to the heart.

After you clear Spirit’s Grave and take the Power Bracelet, go to Yoll Graveyard in the present. Walk to the south-west part of the graveyard, one screen south of the path where a heart floats in an alcove sealed by a stone block. Lift the block with the Power Bracelet, step inside and take the piece.

In the past, follow the winding path through the Deku Forest toward the shore. Throw an Ember Seed at the lone tree beside the water to burn it. A staircase is revealed. Go down into the small cave, where a heart floats in an alcove. Taking it completes the first set of four, so you get your first Heart Container.

Leave Lynna Village by its west exit and head into the hills. Enter the cave you find there. A floating piece sits across a room of pits and stone platforms. Use the Roc’s Feather to jump the gaps, and lift the pots in your way with the Power Bracelet. Watch the darker floor tiles, because some of them crumble when you stand on them. It is the first piece of the second set of four.

In the past, reach the Talus Peaks screen just south of Tokkey’s lake, the one you reach after you learn the Tune of Currents from him. Stand in the bottom-left corner of that screen and play the Tune of Currents on the Harp of Ages. You arrive in the present on a ledge. Cross the plank bridge to the right to pick up the piece on the far side.

In the past, cut the grass and bushes around Lynna City until you have at least 500 Rupees. Walk to the screen one step south of the Lynna City Shooting Gallery and stand in its top-left corner, behind the trees, where the spot lines up with the shop in the present. Play the Tune of Currents. In the present you land in the fenced yard behind the Lynna City shop. Enter the shop, take the staircase in the upper-left corner, and buy the piece from the hidden merchant for 500 Rupees.

On West Rolling Ridge in the present, enter the Goron caves. Equip Bombs and place one against the cracked wall on the east side of the room, then step back. Walk through the hole into the small room beyond, where a piece floats in the middle. Taking it completes the second Heart Container.

Go to the pink ridge in the past and walk up to the large stone Goron head. On the ledge beside it, slash the bushes and play the Tune of Currents. A time portal opens and carries you to the blue ridge in the present. On the blue ridge, find the ledge with two boulders beside a time portal pillar. Play the Harp of Ages there to open the portal, then step onto the ledge to take the piece.

You need the Mermaid Suit for this one. Play the Tune of Ages from the shore to return to the present, then dive in at the north coast of Crescent Island. Follow the underwater passage through a maze with several dead ends and whirlpools. Keep to one wall as you swim and you will come out under the island, at a cave floored with golden tiles. Open the chest inside for the piece. It is the tenth piece, and the second toward the third Heart Container.

Maple is a witch who flies in at random after you defeat enough enemies, and she can appear in either era. When she crashes into you, her dropped items scatter across the screen. A Piece of Heart is among them, and you can catch it before she does. Stay in the path of her broom, and collect the drops quickly.

Plant a Gasha Seed in soft soil, then wait for the Gasha Tree to grow and cut down its nut with your sword. A nut can contain a Piece of Heart along with rings, hearts, fairies, Rupees or potions. One route is the lilac grove: walk into the clearing near the large grey tree and dig the soft soil there. Gasha Nuts give a Piece of Heart only once per save file.
