Jabu-Jabu’s Belly is Level 7, the big fish-shaped dungeon inside Lord Jabu-Jabu in the Zora Seas. This chapter takes you from the first pink rooms to the Rolling Sea Essence of Time. Along the way you collect a ring to appraise, the Compass, five Small Keys, the Long Hook upgrade and the Boss Key, then beat Plasmarine for a Heart Container. The route is linked-game safe; nothing here depends on a Seasons secret.

Level 7 entrance: pink rooms and the Like Like Ring
Cross the first pink rooms
Enter the first pink rooms and clear the red Zol-like enemies and the green snake near the teal floor tiles. You arrive with one Small Key already in your pack. Use it on the locked door you reach after the teal tile crossing, which leaves you with none until you find the next one.

Lower the water with the red pad
In the room with the red square block, blue blocks and switch tiles, a small blue creature at the bottom left explains how the water works: blue water rises and red water drains. Stand on the red block pad to lower the water. You will hear it drain, and the rooms around you change. Wikibooks lists the same rule, with the red button lowering the water and the blue buttons raising it.

Take the ring from the chest by the teal column
In the pink room with a teal block column, open the chest on the left side. It holds a ring that the game asks you to get appraised later, so take it to Vasu. In both written sources for this dungeon it is the Like Like Ring, which is the only ring in Jabu-Jabu’s Belly; see the magical rings page for its effect once it is appraised.

Small Key from the block-frame chest
Continue through the pink rooms to a room where a chest sits inside a block frame, with two red Zol-like enemies nearby. Open the chest for a Small Key. Your key count goes from zero to one, and the key is what you need for the next locked door in the rooms to the south.

Escape the Like Like
In the pink room with a teal water strip, a green Like Like-type enemy swallows Link and takes the Shield for a moment. Attack it from inside its grip to get free. Do not rely on the Shield in this room; the sword is enough.

Compass on the teal pad
Step onto the teal tile pad with the red chest and open it. The chest holds the Compass. The Compass tracks the chests and Small Keys of this dungeon on your map, which matters here because the three-floor layout hides several of them. Its box says it helps you locate chests and find keys.

Middle rooms: switches, chests and a second Small Key
Clear the chest rooms and the switch room
Continue through the pink rooms with teal and magenta tiles, red blocks and skull pots. A teal water strip has a grey button and a red switch; press them to change the water level for the rooms beyond. Keep rupees in mind: the count rises as you break the pots and pick up gold drops, and you will want rupees for the shop trips later on.

Small Key from the block-row chest
Fight the green caterpillar-like and dark Hardhat-like enemies on the row of teal blocks. Open the chest in the block row for a Small Key, then open a second chest on the next block row. A dark-green water pit lies between the rooms, so check the water level before you swim across. Your key count goes from zero to one.

Angler Fish and the Long Hook
Side-view rooms and the Angler Fish
The side-view purple rooms have ladders and water. The Angler Fish, a blue anglerfish-like mini-boss, swoops at you with bubbles, so bring the Roc’s Feather to dodge its rushes. Shoot Scent Seeds from the Seed Shooter to make it fall, then slash its lantern with your sword. Repeat until it is defeated; hearts drop during the fight. Climb the ladder when it is down.

Take the Long Hook
In the lilac room with gold rails, open the chest on the left for the Long Hook. Its box names the item and explains that it swaps places with objects from a distance. The Long Hook is the Switch Hook upgraded to level 2, so it reaches farther and pulls you across longer gaps. In the Zelda Wiki listing, the hook is what gets you to Plasmarine, and it is the only upgrade you need from this dungeon.

Use the Long Hook across the black gaps in the lilac rooms with blue gem tiles. Chests inside block rings are reachable this way, and the side-view rooms with ladders and turtle-like enemies lie beyond.

Crabs, switches and rupees
Walk through the lilac rooms, then the yellow-sand strip room with crabs and back into the pink rooms. A gold-bordered switch ring and a blue pad with a grey button sit in the pink rooms, and a red chest waits at the top left. Each route change matters for the water, so press the switch rings you pass.

Small Keys, locked doors and the Boss Key
Small Key beside the red crystal block
In the pink room with a chest beside a red crystal block, open the chest for a Small Key. Use one of your keys on the next locked door, then check the teal pad with the crab-like enemy for another chest. Your key count goes up by one here.

Walk across the grey button and teal-water strip to reach the chest on the teal pad. Fight the crab-like enemy first. Gold drops and recovery hearts show up in the pink rooms, so you can restock.

Small Key in the block-frame room
Head to the block-frame chest with a key sign on top. Opening it gives you another Small Key. The box text is cut off in the middle, but the key count goes up and the box names the key by its use on a locked door or block. Your total goes up to two.

Small Key in the lilac room
In the lilac room, use the teal block row to reach the chest and take the next Small Key. Cross the statue-lined bridge and the black-void rooms with the four-chest pattern. Spiky black balls appear in the rooms that follow, so keep your hearts up.

Boss Key in the centre chest
Walk up to the room with a 3×3 patterned red and gold block. The chest in the centre holds the Boss Key. Open it and the box confirms the Boss Key, with Link holding it overhead. The sword and the Long Hook are all you need to reach it.

Plasmarine (Level 7 boss)
Reach the boss room
Follow the statue-tile corridor to the top door of the boss door room. Your Boss Key opens it. Plasmarine’s room has a yellow brick floor and blue-grey walls.

Plasmarine boss strategy
Plasmarine, the electrified jellyfish-type boss that Level 7 is built around, appears as a blue form and a red form, and it switches between them each time you hit it with the hook. Its energy balls match its current color. Aim the Long Hook at Plasmarine just as it fires a ball at you, so you trade places with it, and the ball hits Plasmarine instead of Link. Keep lined up horizontally or vertically, and repeat until it goes down. Your sword does nothing to it directly. Hearts drop from it along the way.

Heart Container
When Plasmarine falls, a heart drops and you collect it. Walk to the reward, where the box confirms a Heart Container. The Heart Container adds one full heart to your health meter.

Rolling Sea and the Essence of Time
Walk north from the boss room to the Essence chamber, a dark altar room with stairs up to the altar. Stand on the altar to take the Rolling Sea, one of the eight Essences of Time that Link collects to open the Black Tower. A box confirms it and the Essence’s blue sparks glow around you. The Rolling Sea is the Essence of Time in this dungeon; see the Essences of Time page for the full list.
