Striking North is a field battle in which you fight north through monster hordes, defeat a Boss Bokoblin, rescue three Hylian Captains, then defeat a Hinox, a Blue Moblin and a Lynel on the northern paths. It has two Korok Seeds and seven treasure chests.

Before you start

Aim for level 13. Zelda, Rauru and Mineru are all in your party (you start as Zelda and can switch with the Control prompts), Queen Sonia fights alongside you, and Zelda’s Bow of Light is the best answer to the Hinox. Fight the optional Moblins on the way, because they drop valuable materials.

Southwest path and Boss Bokoblin

Follow the path to the southwest corner. Moblins line the route and you can skip them, but they are worth beating for their drops. The objective at this point is “Head north while defeating the monsters”, and the Moblins carry their own health bars; defeating a Moblin as Zelda also completes an aside quest. A Boss Bokoblin, a new enemy, waits at the curve, announced by its own title card with the objective “Defeat the Boss Bokoblin”. Defeat it to carry on.

Rescuing the Hylian Captains

The objective becomes “Rescue the Hylian Captains” with a counter from 0 to 3. Each captain is fighting a losing battle against a crowd of monsters (a banner announces “The Hylian Captain is fighting a difficult battle!”), so reach each one and defeat the monsters around them. Switch between Zelda, Rauru and Mineru as you go to cover more ground. A rescued captain thanks you and joins the fight. When the counter reaches 3 the objective changes to “Head north while defeating the monsters!”.

Hinox boss fight

Keep heading north through the burning ruins to the Hinox (objective “Defeat the Hinox”). Its weak point is its eye, and a hit there staggers it at once. With Zelda, press X to start aiming the Bow of Light and press X again to fire.

Lynel boss fight

With the Hinox down, the objective is “Head for the northern escape point”. More monsters swarm in on the way, including a Blue Moblin that blocks the path, and then a cutscene shows the Lynel (objective “Defeat the Lynel!”). Back away when it roars, then keep attacking once the explosion goes off.

Korok Seeds

Korok Seed

Seed 1: glowing spot by the pond

After the Hinox falls, as you follow the objective “Head for the northern escape point”, the northern pathway passes a shallow pond. Walk up to the glowing spot in the grass beside it and press Y when the Interact prompt shows to make the Korok pop out.

Korok Seed

Seed 2: pinwheel

Further north the path drops into a rocky gully. Interact with the pinwheel spinning against the cliff wall there and the Korok appears.

Treasure chests

One chest with a Zonaite Steel (One-Handed) is behind debris that blocks the southern road, so reach it from the north side. A second Zonaite Steel (One-Handed) chest is north of the eastern campsite. Beside a burning tree on the northern road, a chest holds another Zonaite Steel (One-Handed) while you rescue the second Hylian Captain. A chest by the ruin wall where the rescues begin holds a Pure Zonaite Steel (One-Handed), and one at the campsite on the way holds a Pure Zonaite Steel (Bow). A Zonaite Steel (Spear) chest lies on the northern road near burning grass. The Ruby chest, holding four Rubies, is at a cliff edge on the southernmost path.
