The Crimson Omen is a short one-fight battle: you control the Knight Construct (called the Mysterious Construct until now), with Calamo beside it, against a corrupted construct wrapped in red Malice that copies the Construct’s own look. Its health bar reads “???” and the objective is Defeat ???. Beat it down and it flees, with the line “He got away…”, and the battle is cleared with a single KO on the results screen. The battle is built around that single boss, so it comes down to reading its attacks.

Before you start

The recommended level is 29. Your party is fixed, so you have nobody else to swap in. Load your Zonai device slots with your strongest attack devices, such as the Flame Emitter or Rocket, and keep the Construct’s Counter Kick ready, because it answers the boss’s rushes.

The boss health bar reads three question marks as the corrupted construct swings its spear

Forbidden Construct boss fight

The goal is simple: defeat the corrupted construct. Watch for the four kinds of attack below.

The red corrupted construct faces the Construct under the Defeat objective

Charging rush

The construct charges across the sand wrapped in red Malice and scuttles in at you at speed. This is a dangerous attack, so answer it with an anti-charge skill such as the Knight Construct’s Counter Kick.

Zonai device attacks

The boss also brings a Zonai device to bear, with a red glow around it. This is a dangerous attack too, so keep moving and slash the construct while the device charges.

Heavy smash

The most common attack is a heavy smash that sends red sparks and debris flying. It is delayed, so wait for it to land near you instead of dodging early or mashing the dodge button, which leaves you open.

Frost attacks

The construct also bursts frost across the desert floor, leaving ice shards on the ground. Time your dodge just as the burst reaches you to trigger a perfect dodge and a chance to chain into Flurry Rush.

Korok Seeds and chests

The battle is a single arena fight, so there is nothing to explore for. The rewards come from the results screen.

Rewards and what unlocks next

The first clear gives Large Zonaite (2) and Diamond (2) as materials, a Castle Guard’s Sword and a Zonaite Steel (Spear). Calamo’s quest “Airborne Gibdos” is available by the time the battle is cleared. It asks for 7 Fire Fruit, 5 Mighty Porgy, 5 Voltfruit and 30 Gibdo Trophies, and rewards better flight mobility for the Knight Construct.
