Crisis on Death Mountain sends you up the volcano to free besieged Goron Soldiers, capture the outposts along the way and finish by beating two Fire Lynels at the summit. It is also where Goron chief Agraston joins your roster, and his shield-breaking, fire-based attacks are the tool you need for most of the battle.

Table of Contents
Before you start
The recommended level is 24. Your party is Agraston, Rauru, Mineru and Zelda, and you can switch between them at any time. Nearly everything here is wrapped in flame, which makes ice and water your best damage, because enemies shrouded in flame are especially vulnerable to water and ice attacks. Equip a Frost Emitter from your Zonai devices before you leave camp, because it is your best answer to the Fire Lynels and helps with the Igneo Talus. Agraston’s strong attack also breaks the lava rocks and boulder formations that hide several Korok Seeds and chests, so keep him in your party for the whole battle.

Rescue the Goron Soldiers
Unlock Agraston and break the rock wall
Agraston joins your party as the battle opens, and a short tutorial covers how to control him. His attacks carry a shield-breaker effect and deal fire damage, so test him on the first enemies. The first objective is Rescue the Goron Soldiers (0/2). Head to the south-east corner of the map, where the Goron Soldiers are trapped, and smash the boulders blocking the path to their outpost with his strong attack. A Fire Moblin guards the spot, so strike it with ice or water. Capture the outpost to rescue the first group.

Fire Hinox in the cave
Move to the west side of the map and enter the cave, where a Fire Hinox guards the next marked outpost. Use ice attacks and shield breakers on it, defeat it and take the outpost. This frees the second group of soldiers and completes the Rescue the Goron Soldiers objective, after which the objective changes to Head for the targeted position.

Igneo Talus fight
An Igneo Talus waits just north of the last outpost you captured, and the objective becomes Defeat the Igneo Talus. Stagger it with ice and shield-breaking attacks, which empty its weak-point gauge fastest, then punish it once the gauge is gone.

Reach the summit
Fight on through the outposts and the Blue Moblin that guards the road. A lava flow blocks the short road to the top, so do not try to push straight through. Agraston points out another route, and the objective becomes Head for the summit through the abandoned Goron mine. Follow the mine tunnels, smashing lava rocks with Agraston’s Boulder Breaker, until you reach the exit, where a Fire Boss Bokoblin holds an outpost. Defeat it and capture the outpost to reach the summit.

Fire Lynels strategy
Two Fire Lynels hold the summit, and the objective reads Defeat the Fire Lynel (0/2); defeating them ends the battle. Keep moving so the two Lynels do not corner you, and use the Frost Emitter on whichever one is closest. Ice staggers them, which opens a window to hit their weak points without taking their attacks. Repeat the emitter whenever it recharges and finish both off to clear the battle.

Korok Seeds
Korok Seed 1: Fire Keese gate
On the road in the south part of the map, look for a glowing spot near some Fire Keese in front of a gate. Interact with it.

Korok Seed 2: Brown boulders
North of one of the outposts is a brown boulder formation. Break it with one of Agraston’s strong attacks to reveal the Korok.

Korok Seed 3: Hot springs pinwheel
Find the hot springs across from the road that lava has cut off. A pinwheel stands beside the springs; interact with it.

Korok Seed 4: Horriblin cave
Past the outpost full of Horriblins is a cave whose entrance is plugged with lava rocks. Smash them with Agraston’s strong attack, step inside and interact with the yellow Korok flower. The Hearty Lizard chest is in the same nook.

Korok Seed 5: Fire Boss Bokoblin pinwheel
Just beyond the outpost held by a Fire Boss Bokoblin stands a pinwheel. Interact with it once the outpost is yours.

Treasure chests
The first chest holds a Two-Handed Zonaite Steel weapon and sits alone near a gate on the east side of the map.

A One-Handed Zonaite Steel is hidden behind a rock formation. Reach it along a small path flanked by two pincer-shaped stalagmites.
For a Spear Zonaite Steel, walk downhill from the hot springs, turn left into a clearing and go through the gate.

Three Hearty Lizards are in a nook on the mountainside behind breakable lava rocks. Use Agraston to smash the rocks; this is the same nook as Korok Seed 4.

The last chest, another One-Handed Zonaite Steel, lies in open ground at the end of the lava-blocked road.
Rewards and what unlocks next
Clearing the battle for the first time pays out Fire Fruit (10), Goron Spice (8) and Ruby (3) as its marked rewards, in a haul that also includes Summerwing Butterfly, Raw Prime Meat, Fireproof Lizard and Sizzlefin Trout, plus a bundle of Zonaite Steel. Agraston is now a permanent member of your roster, so you can use him in any later battle and challenge.
