The Battle of Hyrule Castle is an outpost battle around the castle in which you clear sludge- and gloom-covered camps, then defeat two Archfiends, Grimtorok and Grimgohma, to finish. It holds five Korok Seeds and six treasure chests, one of them buried under sludge that you must wash away first.

Before you start

The recommended level is 52. Your party is Rauru, Zelda, Agraston and Qia, and you can switch between them freely. Light attacks work well against gloom-covered enemies, and Qia is the best choice for sludge (the game itself points out that water attacks are effective against sludge-covered enemies): her strong attacks wash it off, which you need for one Korok Seed and one chest. Calamo’s Splash Fruit attack and a Hydrant do the same job. Rauru tells you at the start to split into two groups to avoid being surrounded and meet up at the gates, so make sure each group can look after itself.

Hyrule Castle objectives

Two southern outposts

Start by taking the two outposts south of your starting point. The battle opens with the objective “Defeat the Boss Bokoblin and its allies” (2): a Boss Bokoblin and a Moblin guard them, and the enemies are covered in gloom, which makes them weak to light-based attacks. Splitting your party between the two outposts saves time.

Western outposts

Next capture the west outpost. Grimgohma hurls explosive rocks at it; the rocks detonate when you get close, so keep your distance from them. Then travel to the outpost on the far western side of the map. Its enemies are clad in sludge, so bring Qia.

Central outposts

Take the two central outposts. A Sludge Like guards the western one and an Igneo Stone Talus guards the eastern one. You can set up a camp at a central outpost for extra preparation before the finale.

Southwest outpost

Gather everyone in the central area, then move the whole party to the south-west outpost and defeat the sludge-covered Hinox there. That leaves only the Archfiends.

The objective Defeat Grimtorok and Grimgohma appears after the last outpost falls

Grimtorok and Grimgohma boss fight

Grimtorok and Grimgohma follow the same attack patterns and phases as Grimgera, whom you have just beaten, so reuse what you learned in that fight. The objective “Defeat Grimtorok and Grimgohma” (2) appears once the last outpost falls. Grimtorok comes first; once it falls, Grimgohma summons a Fire Moblin and its allies, and a Fire Aerocuda mini-boss joins the fight in its arena.

You can bring the full party and defeat them one after the other, or split into two groups and switch to the other group each time an Archfiend falls. A camp at the central outpost lets you prepare before either approach.

Battle of Hyrule Castle Korok Seeds

Korok Seed 1: first glowing spot

Early on, a glowing spot sparkles on the sludge-covered road after the first outpost. Interact with it to make the Korok pop out.

Korok Seed 2: yellow flower

Once Grimtorok is down and you move into the lava arena for Grimgohma, find the yellow flower at the edge of the burning wreckage and interact with it.

Korok Seed 3: stone path

Follow the stone path through the ruins and interact with the glowing spot beside it.

Korok Seed 4: sludge-covered stump

A Korok stump stands beside the sludge-covered path toward the Archfiends. Clear the sludge with Qia’s strong attacks, Calamo’s Splash Fruit attack or a Hydrant, then interact with the stump.

Korok Seed 5: pinwheel

Once the south-west outpost has fallen and the Archfiend objective appears, take the path leading south-east. A Korok with a red heart-shaped face waits beside the route at the pinwheel; interact with it.

Battle of Hyrule Castle treasure chests

There are six chests. A Zonaite Steel (One-Handed) chest is just beyond an archway west of the start, and a Zonaite Steel (Spear) sits behind the gate north of the north-east campsite. A Zonaite Steel (Pristine) chest lies at the end of the path west of the north-west campsite, covered in sludge, so wash it with Qia, a Hydrant or Calamo’s Splash Fruit attack. A Zonaite Steel (Bow) chest is at the end of the sludge-filled road at the western outpost’s gate.

Silent Princess x20 are between a leaning tree and a fire south-east of the north-west campsite. The last chest, Zonaite Steel (Two-Handed), is in Grimgohma’s arena among the burning wreckage; open it once Grimtorok has fallen, while the Fire Aerocuda mini-boss is still around.
