Terror of the Sands is the first battle of Chapter 4. You fight across the desert as the newly unlocked Ardi, clear Gibdo-infested outposts with lightning, and finish by defending your main outpost in the north-east. Losing that outpost is how you fail, so move quickly.

Before you start

The recommended level is 29. Ardi is electric, which is exactly what you need: physical attacks do not hurt Gibdos, so lightning is your main damage here. A Cannon, Rocket or Time Bomb is useful for smashing a skull-shaped rock formation that hides a chest, and the Zonai devices page covers each one. Keep your shield-breakers for the Hinox.

Blue Hinox and the first outpost

You begin as Ardi, and a short card explains how to control her. The first objective is Head toward the Mysterious Construct’s location, so fight through the enemies in the sand, using her electric moves, and capture the outposts on the way. A Blue Moblin blocks the way first, then follow the path west to the Blue Hinox. Defeating it opens the gate into the wide open area to the south-west.

Help with the Molduga

Go to the Mysterious Construct’s marker (the objective reads Rescue the Mysterious Construct) and help it and Calamo beat the Molduga. When the fight ends the objective becomes Head for the monster den, and the Mysterious Construct becomes playable, with Calamo fighting at its side.

Gibdo hives in the north-east

Travel to the marked area in the north-east, where Gibdos pour out of hives and the enemy forces begin an assault from them. Ardi destroys a hive in a single hit, so use her to take them down and thin the horde with her lightning attacks. Capture the outpost once the area is clear.

South-east outpost and Moth Gibdos

Move everyone to the outpost in the south-east corner, which Gibdos have overrun. Moth Gibdos appear here. Interrupt one of their attacks and it is knocked into a hive, destroying the hive instantly, which works as well as Ardi’s hive-smashing move. Capture the outpost.

Defend the main outpost

Return to the main outpost in the north-east corner and hold it. The objective reads Defeat the Electric Boss Bokoblin and its allies (0/3): two Electric Moblins and an Electric Boss Bokoblin. Keep your shield-breakers on the Boss Bokoblin and defeat all three to clear the battle.

Korok Seeds

Korok Seed 1: Balloon after the first outpost

Soon after you capture the first outpost, a Korok balloon floats above the sand road beside an outpost wall. Shoot it down with an arrow and the Korok drops out.

Korok Seed 2: Lone crate

Further along the sand road, as you run on toward the next outpost, a lone crate sits by the path. Smash it and the Korok is inside.

Korok Seed 3: Pinwheel between the rocks

Near the first Gibdo-hive outpost, a pinwheel on a stick stands in a gap between rocks beside the path. Interact with it and the Korok appears.

Korok Seed 4: Yellow flower by the rocks

On the road toward that same outpost, a yellow Korok flower grows beside a pile of rocks. Interact with it to make the Korok pop out.

Treasure chests

A One-Handed Zonaite Steel is near an oasis, guarded by Blue Bokoblins.

Another One-Handed Zonaite Steel is inside a skull-shaped formation in the desert. Destroy the formation with a Time Bomb, Rocket or Cannon.

A Spear Zonaite Steel is on the southern border, east of the southern camp outpost.

500 Rupees are behind a cactus in the south-east.

Five Topaz sit in front of the oasis in the middle of the map.

A Spear Zonaite Steel is east of the north-east campsite, in a corner near a large bone-like structure sticking out of the sand.

The last chest, a One-Handed Zonaite Steel, is at the very north-east tip of the map.

Rewards and what unlocks next

Your first clear grants Palm Fruit (10), Electric Safflina (10) and Topaz (3) as its marked rewards, in a haul that also includes Hydromelon, Zapshroom and Voltfruit, plus a Zonaite Steel. Ardi is a playable warrior from the start of the battle, and the Mysterious Construct and Calamo join your team as story allies. The Special Rations quest “A Flying Korok!”, which costs three Korok Seeds, also opens after this battle.
