Nintendo says the wallpaper will come in several formats for different screen types. The remake is scheduled to launch on November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The store listing estimates a 27 GB file size and says the game can be played in TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. It also lists support for HDR and variable refresh rate output on compatible TVs.
A rebuilt version of the Nintendo 64 adventure
Nintendo describes the game as built from the ground up for Switch 2. The remake features overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, orchestral music, and updated movement and camera controls. Nintendo has also highlighted features such as a story progress tracker called Threads of Time, the ability to hum learned melodies for Link to play, and the Hall of Fallen Heroes, where players can revisit defeated monsters.
The listing also points to ZELDA NOTES, a game-specific service within the Nintendo Switch App for compatible smart devices. Its features include a record of daily accomplishments, image-based location challenges, and a virtual ocarina. Nintendo says the service will also include a quiz with more than 2,000 questions.

Players can tap existing The Legend of Zelda series amiibo for in-game extras. Nintendo also plans to release Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo in 2027. Those figures will unlock masks with a retro graphical style.
The digital wallpaper gives early buyers an additional anniversary item to claim, while the game itself brings a substantially updated presentation of Link’s 1998 journey. Nintendo’s store page lists 16 supported languages and an ESRB rating of Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence.
