The Golden Beasts are four tougher versions of common Holodrum enemies. Defeat all four, each in its own season, and return to the Golden Sage in the cave south of the Gnarled Root Dungeon island. He gives you a Seed Ring, which Vasu appraises as the Red Ring. The Red Ring doubles your sword damage.

Start the quest

Find the Golden Sage

Change the season to summer at the tree stump north of Horon Village. Travel west to the island of the Gnarled Root Dungeon, and instead of going into the dungeon, head south into a small cave. The Golden Sage, a gold-cloaked figure, is inside and sends you off to hunt the four beasts.

Each beast

Golden Octorok

Golden Octorok

Set the season to summer and go to the far south-west corner of Spool Swamp. The Golden Octorok is there. Hit it with your sword, because it cannot be knocked into holes.

Golden Moblin

Golden Moblin

Set the season to autumn and find the Golden Moblin in the autumn Holodrum area. It takes many sword strikes, so bring the Boomerang to make the fight easier.

Golden Lynel

Golden Lynel

In winter, go to the lower part of Tarm Ruins. The Golden Lynel waits there. It dashes at you, so keep an eye on its approach. The Boomerang makes this one easier.

Golden Darknut

Golden Darknut

Set the season to spring and sail the pirate ship to the Western Coast. Park it between the two bridge sections so you can reach the stump where the Golden Darknut appears. Keep attacking as it comes at you.

The reward

Return to the Golden Sage

After you defeat all four beasts, return to the Golden Sage in the cave south of the Gnarled Root Dungeon island. He gives you the Seed Ring. Take it to Vasu’s Jewelers in Horon Village for appraisal, and he identifies it as the Red Ring.

Equip the Red Ring

Equip the Red Ring to double your sword damage. It has no drawback for your defense.

Notes

The beasts are met along the Holodrum route, see Tower of Autumn and Eyeglass Lake. For the appraisal of the Red Ring and the other rings, see Samasa Desert and the Pirate’s Bell and Magical Rings.
