Linked Game Secrets

LinkingPasswords typed on the secret screen. Each password pays out once.
Main secretsTen secrets, each with an Ages character who gives a password and a Seasons character who pays out the reward.
Extra passwordsRing Secret, Hero’s Secret and the chain of passwords that unlocks the Room of Rites.
RequiresA linked game with Oracle of Ages. A normal unlinked file cannot finish any of these.
RewardsHeart Container, Seed Satchel to 99, Bomb Bag to 50, Ring Box to 5 rings, Master Sword, Biggoron’s Sword, Mirror Shield, Bombchus, Swimmer’s Ring, and rings.

A linked game lets Oracle of Seasons talk to Oracle of Ages. You get a password from a character on one side, carry it to the other game, bring back a reply, and enter that reply on the secret screen in Seasons. The ten secrets in the table below are the main rewards, and the Ring Secret, the Hero’s Secret and the Room of Rites sit alongside them. Passwords only pay out once, so keep a note of which ones you have used.

How linking works

Getting a password and a reply

Each secret starts with a character who asks you for a favor or tells you a story. Say yes, and the character gives you a short password. You take that password to its partner in the other game and get back a reply. In Seasons, you open the secret list in Farore’s Hall of Secrets, inside the Maku Tree in Horon Village, read her book, and type the reply on the screen. The secret list keeps track of what you have already entered.

Passwords that pay out

When Farore accepts a password, a chest or pedestal appears in her hall. Open it to get the reward, or take the ring or item she names. A few secrets also give a second password, which you take back to Farore for another reward. The Hall of Secrets chapter shows how this plays out in order: The Hall of Secrets and the Noble Sword.

The Temple and Diver rewards each rest on one source, and the walkthrough shows a different ring from the Temple chain, so check the ring list on the Magical Rings page before you count on either. The Clock Shop reward is confirmed by one source only; another puts the Noble-to-Master step with King Zora.

Secret details in the walkthrough

Heart Container from Farore’s secrets

The Heart Container secret starts with a new villager in Horon Village, who gives you a password after the Gnarled Root Dungeon. Carry it to the Ages side, bring back the reply, and Farore pays out a Heart Container once Snake’s Remains is done. See Farore and Princess Zelda for the steps.

Ring Box to level 3

The Ruul secret raises the Ring Box to hold five rings. The mayor’s mother in Lynna City gives the password on the Ages side, and you bring her reply back to Mayor Ruul in Horon Village. See Equipment Upgrades for the box levels and where each one comes from.

Seed Satchel to 99

The Deku secret takes the Satchel to 99 per seed type. You need 50 of each seed type before it works, so gather your seeds first. The Deku Scrub in the Ages forest gives the password, and the Deku Scrub in the cave in the middle of Natzu pays out the upgrade. See Equipment Upgrades for the full Satchel steps.

Bomb Bag to 50

The Pirate secret pays out a Bomb Bag upgrade. Its password comes from the girl on the coast south of the Dark Tower on the Ages side, and the reply goes to the pirate skeleton in the Subrosian hideout. The walkthrough covers the chamber steps in Temple Remains and the Volcano.

Biggoron’s Sword

The Biggoron secret starts with a red Goron in the caverns of Goron Mountain. He asks you to research his ancestors’ secrets, and you must have the Goron Vase from the trade steps first. Carry his password to Farore’s secret keyboard, and the sword is added to your inventory. See the side-quest chapter.

Mirror Shield

The Mirror Shield replaces the Iron Shield you already own. Get the first password from the ghost in the Western Coast cottage, take it to the librarian, and bring the reply back to Farore, who gives you the shield from her chamber. A linked save can also buy one at the Horon Village shop for 80 Rupees once you own the Iron Shield. See Equipment Upgrades for the shield levels.

Bombchus

A young man at the foot of the windmill in the Eastern Suburbs is the pupil of Dr. Troy, a biologist in Labrynna. He asks you to carry a message, and gives you a password. Take it to Dr. Troy in the Ages side and bring back the reply. Enter it in Farore’s hall for a chest with ten Bombchus, which you can use as homing bombs. The walkthrough shows the windmill steps: The Hall of Secrets and the Noble Sword.

The Ring Secret

Bringing Labrynna rings across

Talk to the red snake beside the counter at Vasu Jewelers in Horon Village. Choose the option to say a secret, then enter the fifteen-character code you were given by the red snake in the Ages shop. The snake accepts it and tells you the rings from Labrynna have arrived. Ask Vasu to check your list, and the rings you own in Ages appear in your Seasons ring list. The Ring Secret is separate from the ten main secrets, and it is how some Ages-only rings reach a Seasons file. See Magical Rings.

The Hero’s Secret

After the ending

After the credits, the screen fades to a sea scene with a ship and “The End.” A few seconds later, a code appears on a panel. Write it down exactly as it appears. It is the Hero’s Secret, the key to starting a new game with bonuses.

The Room of Rites

The final fights

In a linked game, the Room of Rites opens after you defeat Onox’s dragon form. Walk through the eye-statue rooms to the altar, where Koume and Kotake wait. Defeat them, then face Twinrova and Ganon, and the ending plays at the Maku Tree. Only a linked game reaches this room. The walkthrough covers the full sequence in The Linked Game Finale.
