| Fortress of Winds | Gives no Element; the Wind Element is out of reach until the Palace of Winds |
The Minish Cap has four Elements: Earth, Fire, Water and Wind. You win the Earth Element from the Big Green Chuchu in Deepwood Shrine, the Fire Element from Gleerok in the Cave of Flames, the Water Element from the Big Octorok in the Temple of Droplets and the Wind Element from the Gyorg Pair in the Palace of Winds. Together they turn the Picori Blade into the Four Sword, the weapon that lets you split into clones and face Vaati.

The Fortress of Winds, the third dungeon, sits between Fire and Water. It has a boss, Mazaal, and a Heart Container, but no Element: the tablet at the end says the Wind Tribe took the Wind Element to the heavens, and you get the Ocarina of Wind instead. Boss tactics for all five fights are on the boss page, and the keys and maps for each dungeon are on the dungeon items page.
Earth Element
The Earth Element is the reward for the first dungeon, Deepwood Shrine. After the Big Key opens the boss door, beat the Big Green Chuchu by sucking its base smaller with the Gust Jar until it falls, then slashing it. When it bursts the Earth Element descends into your hands and a Heart Container drops. Take both, then step onto the green warp pad to leave the shrine.

Fire Element
The Fire Element waits in the lava dungeon inside Mount Crenel, the Cave of Flames. Use the Cane of Pacci to flip Gleerok‘s shell and slash the yellow jewel on its back. After the last hit the lava hardens, the Fire Element drifts down, and a Heart Container appears to the north. With Earth and Fire in hand you carry the broken blade back to Melari, who forges the White Sword.

The Elemental Sanctuary
The Elemental Sanctuary is a glowing doorway at the end of the garden path in the inner courtyard of Hyrule Castle, which Melari says opens only once every hundred years. Inside, go north through the entrance rooms to the central chamber and thrust the White Sword into the pedestal with A. The Earth and Fire Elements flow into the blade. A side room with flashing floor panels then teaches you the clone ability: charge the sword on one panel and walk onto the second panel to split. You need that ability to open the exit. The Infusing the Picori Blade chapter covers the full route.

Water Element
The Water Element is inside the Big Octorok in the Temple of Droplets, the frozen dungeon at Lake Hylia. Bounce its boulders back with the Small Shield, burn the plant on its back with the Flame Lantern and repeat. It spits out the Water Element when it bursts and a Heart Container appears. Return through the green warp tile and you are back in the Elements circle with the Water Element lit.

Wind Element
You can only reach the Wind Element after the Wind Tribe’s trail leads up to the Cloud Tops and the Palace of Winds. Beat the Gyorg Pair, then walk up to the altar in the Wind shrine to raise the Wind Element; a Heart Container appears afterwards. It is the last Element you need.

Making the Four Sword
Before the final dungeon you can spend time on upgrades and fusions. See the chapter on collecting the upgrades before the Four Sword. When you are ready, cross the Castle Garden to the Elemental Sanctuary and put the Earth, Fire, Water and Wind Elements on their four stands around the pedestal. A flash fills the room as the Four Sword is raised, and after a short talk with the king you enter Dark Hyrule Castle (walkthrough). The Four Sword splits you into up to four clones, which you need in the fights against Vaati.
