WhereOutdoor screens across Holodrum, plus some caves. She flies in on her broom.
RewardRupees, bombs, Magic Potions, Recovery Hearts, Gasha Seeds, rings, and a random Piece of Heart.
RequirementNone. Run into her to start the item scramble.
SeasonNot fixed. The walkthrough shows her in autumn, winter and around Horon Village.

Maple the witch’s apprentice appears on your overworld screens after you have defeated about thirty enemies since her last visit. Wear Maple’s Ring and she shows up after fifteen. When she crashes into you, you both drop items and race to collect them. Grab the Piece of Heart first if she has one, then rings and seeds. Maple can give you a Piece of Heart and a ring, but neither is guaranteed.

When Maple appears

The kill count

Maple comes back after you have beaten about thirty enemies since her last meeting. Keep fighting on the screens you walk through and she will fly in on her broom on a screen change. Maple’s Ring halves the count to fifteen, so wear it if you want more of her drops.

Maple’s Ring

Maple’s Ring makes her appear more often. Vasu appraises an unnamed ring for 20 Rupees in Horon Village, and it is one of the rings Maple can drop.

The item scramble

How the collision works

Steer into Maple so that she crashes into you. Both of you lose items, which scatter across the screen. Move quickly and touch every item you can before she collects it. Collecting items first is the whole game here, so keep moving toward the Piece of Heart and the rings.

What you lose

Maple takes only replaceable items from you, such as Rupees and some Mystical Seeds. Your rings are not taken. Her pile is sorted by value: Pieces of Heart come first, then Gasha Seeds, Magic Potions and rings, so aim for those before anything else.

What Maple can drop

Maple’s Piece of Heart

Maple sometimes drops a Piece of Heart when you hit her, and it is a random drop, not a fixed reward. Keep running into her and collect her loot each time. The piece counts toward the twelve needed for the three extra hearts. For where the other pieces come from, see Heart Piece Locations.

Rings from Maple

Maple can drop a ring in the scramble. You cannot tell which ring it is until Vasu appraises it. For the full ring list and how each ring is obtained, see Magical Rings.

Notes

The walkthrough chapters show her during the main route, including Samasa Desert and the Pirate’s Bell, Sunken City and Zora’s Flippers and Side Quests and Collectibles Before Onox’s Castle.
