The Subrosian Dance Hall is a rhythm game where you copy the host’s poses. If you finish as the best dancer of the day, you win a prize. The first win gives you the Boomerang, and the later wins pay Ore Chunks, which you spend at the Subrosian Market. The hall is the quickest way to earn Ore Chunks early in the game.

Finding the Dance Hall

Walk to the cave

Arrive by the portal into the East Plaza. Take the west stairs down to stay high on the mountainside, pass the Subrosian Hot Springs sign and the Subrosians standing in the lava, then go south to the cave of the Dance Hall. The route is described in the Tower of Winter chapter.

How the dance works

Speak to the host and agree to dance

Talk to the host and say yes. He performs a pose, and you copy it by facing left or right to match his direction and pressing the button for the pose he shows.

Keep your rhythm and avoid the other dancers

Do not bump into the other dancers, because that spoils your run. The tempo rises as the dance goes on, so the last poses come fastest. Watch the host’s pose before the next direction appears.

Dance again to win more

On later visits you can ask to join the practice. Copy the leader until he calls you the best dancer of the day, which counts as a win.

The Boomerang is the prize you need for the switch in the Tower of Winter, and the Ore Chunks pay for the Market. Some sites list a Strange Flute as a Dance Hall prize, which is later used to call Dimitri. The chapters record Ore Chunks for these wins, and I could not confirm which win gives the flute, so this page does not list it.

Where the wins fit in the route

The first win comes on your first visit to Subrosia. The second and third wins come on the way to the Temple of Seasons, and the fourth comes on a later visit. Each visit needs a portal, so the dance pays out in steps as you go. See the Spool Swamp chapter for the later visit.
