The Biggoron Sword comes from a chain of trades that starts with the Cucco Lady’s Pocket Egg in Kakariko Village and ends with Biggoron on Death Mountain Trail. Each item is handed to a new person for the next one: egg, Pocket Cucco, Cojiro, Odd Mushroom, Odd Poultice, Poacher’s Saw, Broken Goron Sword, Prescription, Eyeball Frog, Specialty Eye Drops and finally the Biggoron Receipt. Three of the items spoil on a countdown, so go straight to the next person with them. You also need a Giant’s Knife, which Biggoron takes from you when he gives you the sword. The same sequence in route order is in The Biggoron Sword Route.

Before the first trade

Giant's Knife

Giant’s Knife

Warp to Death Mountain Crater with the Bolero of Fire, cross the chain bridge and walk through the cave into Goron City. Go past the mesh gate to Medigoron, who runs Medigoron Masterworks from a nook in the cave. He sells a handcrafted sword for 200 rupees. Say yes and you get a Giant’s Knife. The box warns that you need both hands to swing it and that it is too heavy to use with a shield. Keep it in your pack, because Biggoron takes it at the very end.

The trades

Pocket Egg

Pocket Egg

Walk down Death Mountain Trail to Kakariko Village and speak to the Cucco Lady at her pen. She tells you about a very rare egg, the pocket cucco, and asks you to look after it. Accept and you borrow the Pocket Egg; she says it hatches at dawn. The quest banner “From a Pocket Egg Comes…” appears. Her hint is to find a heavy sleeper so the cucco’s crow can wake him.

Pocket Cucco

The egg hatches only at dawn. Find the man asleep on a bed in a small room in the village and play the Sun’s Song beside him. Each time you play it, night and day swap places. Step outside, play it again until night falls, then play it once more to bring the next dawn, and the egg hatches into a Pocket Cucco. The text says its crow can wake the soundest sleeper, and the bird now sits in your item menu.

Carry the Pocket Cucco back to the sleeper’s room. It crows, and the sleeper turns out to be Talon. He jumps up, asks whether you went to Ingo Ranch and says he will turn over a new leaf. He runs off calling for Malon, and the game saves. Nothing is handed to you here, so go back to the Cucco Lady.

Cojiro

Cojiro

Show the Cucco Lady the Pocket Cucco and she says she has never seen a happier bird. She then offers Cojiro in exchange, a blue cucco that used to belong to her big brother and has not crowed since he left. Say yes, and she asks you to find her brother and reunite them.

Odd Mushroom

Odd Mushroom

Call Epona with Epona’s Song, ride from Hyrule Field to the Lost Woods and go to the clearing with the big tree. The Master Craftsman’s Son sits there. Show him Cojiro and he cries out, then trades the bird for an Odd Mushroom. He says a woman named Granny runs a potion shop in Kakariko Village. A 4:00 countdown starts, because the mushroom spoils quickly.

Odd Poultice

Odd Poultice

Ride back to Kakariko Village, using Epona’s Song again in the field if you need her. Enter Granny’s Potion Shop and show Granny the Odd Mushroom. She wrinkles her nose at the smell, grumbles about her son, asks you to wait a moment and gives you an Odd Poultice.

Poacher's Saw

Poacher’s Saw

Take the poultice back to the Lost Woods and the big tree. Fado stands where the craftsman’s son used to sit. He senses that you carry something crafted from the forest and asks for it. Hand over the Odd Poultice and you receive a Poacher’s Saw, which he says the craftsman’s son left behind.

Broken Goron's Sword

Broken Goron Sword

Ride Epona past Lake Hylia into Gerudo Valley. Use the Hookshot where the prompt says Fire to cross the gap, then smash the dark rock pile with the Megaton Hammer. The Master Craftsman stands behind it. He asks you to help find his four apprentices, who are prisoners in Gerudo Fortress, and the quest banner “Missing in the Desert” appears. Give him the saw and he swaps it for a Broken Goron Sword. He points you to Biggoron at the top of Death Mountain.

Prescription

Prescription

Play the Bolero of Fire to warp to Death Mountain Crater. Take the cave route out of the Crater, using the Hookshot on the chains where the Fire prompt appears and climbing the net, until you reach Death Mountain Trail. Biggoron is rubbing his burning eyes and cannot work. Talk to him and he gives you a Prescription for King Zora, saying Zora Domain makes the best eye drops.

Eyeball Frog

Eyeball Frog

Travel to Zora Domain through Zora River and climb the icy steps to King Zora. He reads the Prescription and gives you an Eyeball Frog, saying the scientist at the Lakeside Laboratory on Lake Hylia can turn it into what you need. A 2:30 countdown starts. Run down the icy steps to the ledge above the waterfall, jump into Zora River with the Zora Tunic on, hold Dive and swim down to Hyrule Field. Call Epona and gallop to Lake Hylia.

Eye Drops

Specialty Eye Drops

Enter the Lakeside Laboratory and talk to the Lake Scientist. He is thrilled to see the Eyeball Frog and wants to eat it. Choose “Make some eye drops!” and he mixes the drops instead. After a short wait you receive some Specialty Eye Drops that contain no preservatives, and a 3:30 countdown starts. Ride across Hyrule Field to Kakariko Village and run up Death Mountain Trail to the top.

Biggoron Receipt

Biggoron Receipt

Show Biggoron the drops. He is back in action and says he can fix the broken sword. He hands you the Biggoron Receipt, which the box announces as the Biggoron Sword. The text adds that it is the receipt you need to pick it up, at least. It is a claim check for a sword still being repaired, and the item menu lists it as the Biggoron Receipt.

Biggoron Sword

Play the Sun’s Song beside Biggoron to pass time, then talk to him again. He says the repair is still in the works, then that it needs about one more day, then that it will not be much longer. Keep playing the Sun’s Song and talking to him until he says his work is done and asks for the receipt. Hand it over. He takes the Giant’s Knife from your back and gives you the Biggoron Sword. The item menu says that while it is equipped you cannot use a shield. He lets you keep the receipt as a keepsake, though it cannot be traded in for anything.
