Hytopia is the fashion-obsessed kingdom where you spend the time between Levels. A small town with a square, a stream and a handful of shops sits in front of Hytopia Castle, and every Level starts from a Triforce Gateway inside the castle. The places that matter are Madame Couture’s, where you order outfits, the Daily Riches chest game, the Street Merchant, the Miiverse Gallery, the castle lobbies and the Coliseum. Several shops are closed at the start, so some of them only appear once you have cleared a few Levels of the Woodlands.

Madame Couture’s
Madame Couture’s is the tailor shop where you turn Materials and Rupees into magic outfits. Madame Couture will not take you seriously until you have been recognised at the castle, so your first visit sends you to Sir Combsly, who recruits you and gives you a Hytopian Silk to bring back for the Hero’s Tunic. After that, choose Custom Order to commission an outfit, Catalog to read what you own and what each outfit needs, and the fitting room to wear it. A Stylish Woman beside the counter comments on every new outfit, and a mirror shows a cat whose colour changes every day. The full outfit list, recipes and prices are on Outfits.

Daily Riches
Daily Riches is a free prize shop that you can play once per real day. The owner shows you the day’s Material, then you pick one of four Treasure Chests. If you choose the right chest you win that Material; every wrong chest gives a Freebie instead. On later days the chests you opened before stay open, so your odds improve, and on the fourth day in a row you are left with one chest and cannot lose. Skipping a day resets the chests. You can pay 50 Rupees to re-roll the prize. Freebies matter: after five of them the owner has Madame Couture offer the Dapper Spinner, an outfit that costs ten Freebies and 300 Rupees. A Freebie sells for 50 Rupees at the Street Merchant. Linebeck’s Uniform will not show you what is in these chests.

Street Merchant
The Street Merchant sets up a stall opposite Madame Couture’s once you have completed three Levels in the Drablands. He sells a few Materials a day, always including Frilly Fabric, which you cannot get anywhere else and which costs 3,000 Rupees (needed for the Cheer Outfit). He also buys Materials from you at one fifth of the price he asks, and he sells Friendly Tokens for 2,000 Rupees each after the curse is lifted. See Materials for what to keep before you sell.

Miiverse Gallery
The Miiverse Gallery opens after your first Level. Its owner, the Photo Bro, lends you his Camera on your first visit. With it you can take one photo per Level in the Drablands, and the last one you took is saved when the Level ends, up to 99 photos in all. In the gallery you can look through your album and delete pictures. Posting to Miiverse, the feature this shop was built around, no longer works because the online service has closed. Inside the gallery there is also a wall of pictures by Mr. Tudor and a bookshelf with Volume 8 of the Drablands Diary.

Tri Force Hero Statue
The statue in the middle of the square shows three heroes forming a Totem with their swords raised. A villager, the Bearded Baron, explains it is a monument to the Tri Force Heroes and tells you to give thanks to it. Pressing A beside it saves your game at any time. The tree to the south-east is covered in cicada shells, and a broken doll in the north-east corner looks like Link; both change as you collect Hero Points from the later update.

South gate
A guard watches the south gate of the town. Talking to him saves your progress and returns you to the title screen, so use him when you want to quit. The town also has a few villagers who gossip about a “black ghost” that is actually the cursed Princess Styla hiding around the streets, and a sign outside Madame Couture’s seeks the Tri Force Heroes.

Hytopia Castle
Throne room
King Tuft summons you here after you clear the Woodlands, congratulates you and urges you to finish every Drablands Challenge. Once he has summoned you, you can visit him whenever you like. Return to him after clearing every challenge of an Area to collect that Area’s exclusive gold Material, after all 128 Completion List entries for a Gold Rupee, and later for the Cursed Tights once the story ends.

Hall of the Doppels
This is the single-player lobby. The Doppel Master wakes two wooden Doppels to fill the other two Links and opens the Triforce Gateway to the Drablands. A Completion List shows the Levels and challenges you have finished, and Madame Couture’s Apprentice shows the Catalog and Material List. The details of playing alone are on Single Player and Doppels.

Multiplayer Lobby
The Multiplayer Lobby is where up to three players join by local wireless or online play. The Match Master pairs you with other heroes and opens the Gateway only when three Links stand ready. It has its own Completion List, a library with Drablands Diary entries and the Apprentice, who shows the Catalog and Material List and, in Download Play, can tailor outfits for the group.

Coliseum
The Coliseum lobby sits in the basement and hosts two- or three-player battles, so it is a multiplayer extra that you can skip. Matches take place in eight arenas, one per Area, and the Link with the least damage and fewest KOs wins. First place earns 20 Rupees and a Material, which can be the arena’s exclusive gold, second place earns 10 Rupees and third place 5. Light Armor burns other Links on contact. Download Play is not supported. You can also get every exclusive gold from King Tuft instead, so the Coliseum is optional.
