The Ocarina of Time Remake has 13 songs. Twelve are fixed melodies you learn from a character, a stone tablet or a message, and the thirteenth is the tune you teach a scarecrow yourself. Every fixed melody is a string of button notes made from L, R, Y, X and A: Zelda’s Lullaby is Y, X, A, Y, X, A, Epona’s Song is X, Y, A, X, Y, A, and the six warp songs carry you to a temple from anywhere you can take out the Ocarina. Below, the songs are listed in the order you meet them.

Table of Contents
How songs work
Take out the Ocarina and the songbook opens with a ring of song icons. Each page shows the staff with the notes you need, and the prompts along the bottom read Check song and Listen to the melody, or Check songbook, Play a note and Cancel while you are about to play. Choose Play a note and press the five note buttons (L, R, Y, X and A) in the order the staff shows. A finished song prints a box that begins “You played” and the song’s name, and the staff stays on screen so you can see the notes once more. Learning a song works the same way: a teacher plays the phrase, the staff appears, and you copy it until the box reads “You learned”.

Songs from the story
Zelda’s Lullaby
Impa teaches Zelda’s Lullaby in the Hyrule Castle courtyard at the end of the Hyrule Castle visit. She plays the phrase, the staff appears, and you repeat Y, X, A, Y, X, A. The box reads “You played Zelda’s Lullaby!” and Impa explains that the song has been handed down in the royal family. The songbook describes it as a mystical song from the royal family with strange powers.

The Lullaby opens anything marked with the Triforce. Stand on a Triforce symbol or tile and play it at the harp headstone in the Graveyard, at Darunia’s door in Goron City, at the waterfall in Zora Domain and at every Great Fairy fountain, where the fairy asks for an offering. Inside dungeons it moves the ghost ship in the Shadow Temple, changes the water level at the Triforce doors of the Water Temple, opens a path in the Bottom of the Well and works several doors and chests in the Spirit Temple and Ganondorf’s Castle.

Sun’s Song
The Sun’s Song waits on a stone tablet at the bottom of the Royal Family’s Tomb in the Graveyard. Open the tomb by playing Zelda’s Lullaby at the harp headstone, cross the dim halls and the green poison room, and read the tablet. The box tells you to keep the Sun’s Song in your heart, and you copy A, R, X, A, R, X on the Ocarina. Golden light surrounds Link and the box reads “You played the Sun’s Song!”

The songbook calls it a secret melody that makes day and night trade places, and it does that wherever you stand, every time you play it. You use it to bring on night for Gold Skulltulas and for the Treasure Box Shop, and to bring back day when a shop is shut, and you also play it to pass time for the hatching egg and the Biggoron Sword repair.

Epona’s Song
Malon teaches Epona’s Song in the paddock at Lon Lon Ranch. She says “Ready? Listen closely now…” and the staff shows X, Y, A, X, Y, A. Play it back, then play it once more with Malon, and the box announces “You learned Epona’s Song!” The songbook describes a peaceful melody that brings Epona galloping to your side.

Once you win Epona at Ingo Ranch, play the song in any open field to call her and press the button shown to mount. The same notes also charm cows. Play Epona’s Song to Li’l Miss Moo in Gerudo Valley, to the cow on Death Mountain and to the one in the Kokiri Forest hut, and each hands over Lon Lon Milk when you carry an empty bottle.

Saria’s Song
Saria teaches Saria’s Song in the quiet glade of the Lost Woods. Try the notes the staff shows, R, A, Y, R, A, Y, and the box reads “You played Saria’s Song!” The songbook says to use it to connect with Saria from afar, and the game explains that playing it lets you speak to her as if she stood beside you.

Several people react to this song. Play it for Darunia in Goron City and he dances away his gloom, which earns you the Goron Bracelet. Play it for the Skull Kid sitting on a stump by the stream for a Heart Piece. As an adult, play it for Mido at his gate in the Lost Woods so he lets you pass towards the Forest Temple.

Song of Time
Zelda leaves the Song of Time as a message in a vision of the Temple of Time, right after you pick up the Ocarina of Time in the misty field outside Hyrule Castle. The notes appear on a staff and you play A, L, R, A, L, R with the Play a note prompt until the box reads “You played the Song of Time!” The songbook calls it a miraculous tune that stirs space and time, and it is the melody that opens the Door of Time in the Temple of Time.

After that opening the song works on any block or door that carries the Time symbol. Blue Time blocks appear or vanish in the Fire Temple, Ice Cavern, Spirit Temple, Gerudo Proving Grounds and Ganondorf’s Castle, and the Time symbol on the Forest Temple’s courtyard door and the crystal door in the Sacred Grove opens to it. The frogs on Zora River also like it.

Song of Storms
The Music Man in the Kakariko Village windmill teaches the Song of Storms to adult Link. He mutters that an ocarina still upsets him, plays a short tune and says it has been stuck in his head ever since. Copy L, R, X, L, R, X from the staff. The game says “You learned the Song of Storms!” and the Music Man erupts that you played the evil song.

The songbook says the song controls the elements of wind and water. Play it for the Music Man as a child and rain falls, the windmill spins and the well in Kakariko Village drains, which opens the Bottom of the Well. At certain spots a purple whirlwind opens a hole you can drop into, as by a wall in theGerudo Fortress. The five frogs on Zora River also reward it with a Heart Piece.

Warp songs
Minuet of the Forest
Sheik plays the Minuet of the Forest on a harp in the Sacred Grove after you beat the Great Moblin. A music sheet appears and you copy L, X, Y, A, Y, A. The box says the melody invokes the power of the forest, and playing it warps you to the Sacred Grove from anywhere you can use the Ocarina. It is the way back to the Forest Temple.

Prelude of Light
Sheik teaches the Prelude of Light inside the Temple of Time. A staff appears, Sheik plays the first phrase on the harp and you repeat it with the note buttons, then Sheik plays again and you answer a second time. Play X, A, X, A, Y, X on the Ocarina, and the box reads that the melody invokes the power of light. The songbook calls it an uplifting tune that takes you to the Temple of Time, which is also where you switch between child and adult. The lesson is part of the Poes and Lake Hylia chapter.

Bolero of Fire
Sheik teaches the Bolero of Fire in Death Mountain Crater after you get the Goron Tunic in Goron City. She plays the opening notes on a harp and you repeat R, L, R, L, A, R, A, R until the box reads “You learned the Bolero of Fire!” The songbook says it travels to Death Mountain Crater, and a prompt asks “Warp to the Death Mountain Crater?” when you play it.

Serenade of Water
Sheik teaches the Serenade of Water inside the Ice Cavern. When the prompt says to play it, copy L, R, A, A, Y, and the game announces “You learned the Serenade of Water!” The songbook calls it a whimsical melody that takes you to Lake Hylia, and a prompt asks whether you want to warp there when you play it.

Nocturne of Shadow
Sheik teaches the Nocturne of Shadow on a bridge in Kakariko Village at night in the Nocturne of Shadow chapter. Play the notes back when the prompt appears: Y, A, A, L, Y, A, R. A glow gathers around the Ocarina and the box reads “You learned the Nocturne of Shadow!” The songbook calls it a mysterious song that travels to the far end of the graveyard, and the prompt reads “Warp to the graveyard?” when you play it.

Requiem of Spirit
Sheik teaches the Requiem of Spirit in the sanctum of the Evil Desert Colossus, after you cross the Mirage Desert in the Mirage Desert and Desert Colossus chapter. Copy L, R, L, A, R, L when the prompt reads “Play the Requiem of Spirit.” The box says the melody invokes the power of spirit, and playing it warps you back to the Evil Desert Colossus, so you do not have to cross the desert again.

Your own song
Scarecrow Song
The Scarecrow Song is the only song you write yourself. As a child, visit the scarecrow Bonooru in the field by Lake Hylia, start Stir the Scarecrow’s Soul! and play a short tune of your own with the Play a note buttons, then confirm it with the button marked OK. He repeats it back and praises it. The songbook later lists it as “Scarecrow Song”, a unique melody you played for a scarecrow.

As an adult, return to Bonooru in the field and play the same tune for him. The game confirms it is the song you taught him, and Bonooru cheers that he wants to join you. From then on, play the Scarecrow Song near a Hookshot or Longshot target spot and a scarecrow appears on a perch you can fire at, as in the Fire Temple. The songbook page for it shows your notes.
