There are six Great Fairy Fountains in Ocarina of Time Remake. Each one is a hall with a golden fountain and a Triforce mark on the floor in front of it. Stand on the mark, play Zelda’s Lullaby, and the fairy who wakes asks for an offering of rupees. If you choose “Make an offering” she rises from the water and gives you a power. Each fountain costs more than the last one you visited, from 25 rupees up to 500, so save your rupees. Every fairy also tells you where to find her sister and says you can return any time you feel weary to be healed.

Great Fairy

Great Fairy of Magic at the Death Mountain summit

Darunia tells you to meet the Great Fairy at the mountain’s summit, which starts the side quest To the Great Fairy. Climb Death Mountain Trail, bomb the cracked boulders on the way up and climb the long net on the rock face. Kaepora Gaebora waits at the top, and a lit stone corridor beyond him leads to the fountain. The route is in Death Mountain Summit and Crater.

Play Zelda’s Lullaby on the Triforce mark. The fairy asks for 25 rupees and the offering choice appears. Pay it and a green light forms on the floor glyph while purple magic gathers around Link.

Din's Fire

Din’s Fire

The box reads “You got Din’s Fire!” and an orb of fire forms above you. Cast it to create an orb of divine fire. It drains the magic meter quickly, and a magic jar or a green potion refills it.

Magic meter

The same visit unleashes your magic power, and the green magic meter appears under your hearts. The fairy says her sister lives near Hyrule Castle.

Great Fairy of Power at Hyrule Castle

In Hyrule Castle Town, bomb the boulder on the grassy slope under the castle cliff and crawl through the hole into a teal hall with a pool and a golden fountain. You need Bombs and at least 50 rupees. The path is in Bombchu Bowling and the Great Fairy of Power.

Play Zelda’s Lullaby. She remarks that you have already been given some power by another Great Fairy and asks for 50 rupees. Pay it and she rises with red hair out of the golden fountain.

Enhanced Spin Attack

The box reads “You got the gift of improved spin!” Hold the sword button to charge an attack and release it to shoot a wave of magic out of your blade. She sends you on to her sister at Zora Fountain.

Great Fairy of Magic at Zora Fountain

Follow Zora Fountain’s mossy path past the tree where a Gold Skulltula hides at night until you reach a dark rock face with a cracked section. Set a Bomb against the crack. A lit stone corridor opens and leads into the golden hall. The route is in Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Belly.

Play Zelda’s Lullaby on the Triforce mark. A sleepy voice answers, and she asks for 100 rupees. Choose to make the offering.

Farore's Wind

Farore’s Wind

She rises from the flower bed and teaches you Farore’s Wind. Cast it to create a warp point within a dungeon, and cast it again to warp back to the most recent point you made. It uses magic. She says to look for her sister in Death Mountain Crater.

Adult fountains

Great Fairy of Wisdom in Death Mountain Crater

After the Fire Temple, cross the narrow stone bridge from the red pedestal in the Crater and Hookshot to the chained block on the far wall. Smash the cracked boulders in the tunnel with the Megaton Hammer, fight the lizard warriors in the dark chamber and keep going until the tunnel opens into a pale blue hall. Break the pots along the golden path and step onto the Triforce crest. The full route is in Double Magic and Death Mountain.

Play Zelda’s Lullaby. The fairy asks for 200 rupees, so arrive with at least that much.

Double Magic

The Great Fairy of Wisdom rises in a crown of roses and wraps Link in pink magic. The box reads “You got the gift of doubled magic!” and your magic meter now holds twice as much. She tells you to find her sister near the Evil Desert Colossus.

Great Fairy of Magic at the Evil Desert Colossus

In the Colossus, walk back through the palm oasis to the cracked red rock wall in the cliff beside the trees. Break it with the Megaton Hammer and follow the sandy corridor beyond to the golden hall. The route is in Mirage Desert and Evil Desert Colossus.

Stand on the Triforce symbol and play Zelda’s Lullaby. She asks for 300 rupees.

Nayru's Love

Nayru’s Love

She grants Nayru’s Love, a protective barrier that shields you from all damage, though the magic does not last forever. She says her sister near Ganondorf’s Castle will grant the ultimate defense.

Great Fairy of Courage near Ganondorf’s Castle

Clear four of the barriers in Ganondorf’s Castle, then go back out onto the green cliffs. A pale light path leads along the rock face to a cave. Follow it past a teal passage until a gold and white archway opens on the last fountain.

Play Zelda’s Lullaby. White mist fills the room and the Great Fairy of Courage notices that you already have the others’ power. She asks for 500 rupees, so check your wallet before you leave the castle.

Halved damage

Purple sparkles flow into Link and the box reads “You got the gift of halved damage!” Your defense is stronger and every hit does half as much. She says you have now met all her sisters.

Zelda’s Lullaby is taught early. If you are not sure you have it, check the Ocarina Songs page before you travel to a fountain.
